Can Noory pronounce anything correctly?

Ha!  I love the organization, or lack of, on the website.  Under "George," it's.

GEORGE NOORY
GEORGE'S STUDIO CAM
GEORGE NOORY'S TV SHOW
GEORGE NOORY'S EVENTS
GEORGE KNAPP

So poor Knapp is buried under the "George" section just because his first name happens to be George?

Meanwhile, ass-hat's standard mugshot is still on the site.  Thanks, PremRat.

It may be meaningful to someone who's not a pointed partisan turd who lambastes people for speaking negatively about the electoral college, claiming they only did it because they lost the election. Chew on that, patriot fraud.

You sound angry.

I'm hardly partisan - I detest the Republican Establishment in DC.  I don't really see myself as overly 'patriotic'.

The things I'm interested in getting right boil down to three items.  1.  Foreign policy - this has been a disaster from the time the Soviet Union fell until now.  Clinton's was horrible, W's was a disaster, and Obama somehow managed to be even worse.  2. Domestic economic policy - taxes, the budget, the national debt, the unfunded liability - anyone who doesn't think what both parties have done isn't downright treason either doesn't understand our situation or doesn't know the meaning of the word.

3.  The Constitution - separation of powers, who decides.  Read the Declaration, the Constitution, however much of the Federalist Papers you have time for.  I no longer have any patience for anyone who wants to do away with a portion of it so their pet ideas can be implemented or their choice can get elected, certainly those who don't understand or care why whatever it is they don't like today was put in place in the first place.

Do people really want the country governed by someone who spent 95% of their time campaigning in the northeast corridor and the major population centers in the rest of the country?  Is that going to produce a consensus government that's the best we can get for all Americans?

I'm no Trump fan, but I'm optimistic.  As great as Reagan was, he couldn't set everything right in our federal government after LBJ, Nixon, and Carter, and if Trump turns out to be closer to Reagan than to Gov Schwartzenegger, he still won't be able to fix all of it either.  Look around you, things have gone very wrong in our country in many areas, and Hilary Clinton did not have either the world view, the competence, or the desire to address any of it.

Right now I'm not interested in what dumb things he's said and done.  The media is garbage in this country - all the dumb idiotic obnoxious things any Republican says are amplified and become weeks long headlines subject for ridicule or scare tactics, all the dumb idiotic obnoxious things any Democrat says are buried and downplayed.  Is that how you want things covered?  Is that how we're going to get the information we need to choose the best representation?  Is that how we're going to make the best policy choices?

Oh yes, I'm a pointed partisan turd and a patriotic fraud.  The truth is if you disagree with me on any of this, you're wrong.  How about get out of the way while the rest of us try to fix some of this mess.

136 or 142

the internet has turned into a fat piece of shit. it's almost unavoidable. i can rarely get html5 videos to play and many sites give me a hard time just to do something simple like select a portion of text to copy and paste for a reference. cell padding, spacing, everything is all fucked up on all sites now, and no matter what i use to view internet, the average website looks like fucking shit and there is a ton of unused space, where as other parts will be stretched like silly putty, or cropped out margins... it's like a fucking disease from a stephen king book. like the stand.

and wordpress server code sucks 1996 cock in hell. what a step in the wrong direction that fad was. jesus chriist, whole pages that scroll for days and take all nav buttons and shit with it each pass. i can appreciate in a rare case it might be utilized best for live happening events or calendar countdowns, but for a general front end for a business or company selling products, inappropriate x 1 million.

frames still work fine, even on a touch screen or portable. it's almost forgotten with though. i find that even the local and international media sites all have a shitty clusterfuck of a site which all resemble one another. and many are loaded with tabloid and phony/celebrity clickbait pics/captions in the ad columns. i hate where it has all gone this past decade. everything is ruined. i fucking hate cellphones too. all they do is NAG NAG NAG. all the time.

W3C can go fuck itself... and so can the common bandwagon-jumping netflix-loving cubicle working bearded ghoulie with no brain.

PS: no offense to anyone who uses netflix, likes cell phonery, or creates wordpress pages.

Great post, I feel exactly the same.  So tired of page bloat and broken plug-ins and horrible floating icons and slow-loading pointless slideshows etc.  God I miss the days when the net was mostly pure html and emails were plain text.  Fast, cross-platform, easy to read.  Now all these sites are filled with broken formatting and blinking widgets and slow menus.  I'm even mad at Firefox which reached it's perfect state like 5 years ago and since then has been in steady decline with endless unecessary re-engineering and interface redesigns.  Same with Google, and Yahoo, and Ebay and friggin every financial institution I've ever logged into.  The last holdout seems to be the beautifully archaic but blazingly-fast and easy-to-read Craigslist.

100%. Craiglist and Drudge are the only decently organized sites (and the latter will unfortunately bring you to some "tablet-friendly" web site that is poorly designed and contain more video and pictures than text.) When did it happen that people don't want to read or get any real details about news or current events? Now everything, even newspaper's websites, seems to be some 2 minute video with no details, footnotes, etc or poorly organized so you can't find the content.)

In smaller population states, or in states/local governments that have more inclusive laws about addressing the city council, debates, etc you get some beautiful moments and colorful characters.

It didn't work for your team, so you want it replaced.  Period.  The End.  If you want to call that ''thinking'', well, you're free to post any dumb thing you want.
I've been doing so all along.  By the by, there is no cap to the max number of electors in each state that I can find.  All I see is that Ca. has the most, at 55.

It's 1 for each House member and 1 for each of the state's two Senators:

Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress...

[The Electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves; they shall name in their ballots the person voted for as President, and in distinct ballots the person voted for as Vice-President, and they shall make distinct lists of all persons voted for as President, and of all persons voted for as Vice-President, and of the number of votes for each, which lists they shall sign and certify, and transmit sealed to the seat of the government of the United States, directed to the President of the Senate; The President of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the certificates and the votes shall then be counted;--The person having the greatest number of votes for President, shall be the President...]

- US Constitution, Article II, Section I [as amended by Amendment XII, added for clarity (1804)]

Yes.  And isn't it great that the Constitution was created to be a living document, to change with the times?  It should be changed.  One person, one vote.

The way it is now, a state can be 49% for one candidate and 51% for another, and in most states ALL the votes go to the 51% person.  That's almost half the state's votes not counting.  One person, one vote.  Fair.

And, for your info, I've thought this way since years back when I was a registered Republican.  I am not reacting to the current outcome.

Quote from: Segundus on November 20, 2016, 06:04:52 AM

Was it?  So any court or president should interpret any of it any way they want, as long as come up with some sophism, and claim it's changing to 'meet the times'?  Do you see any possible problems with that?

The parts that are to be applied as times change were written broadly, the parts that should have an Amendment to change were written narrowly.

I probably should have pointed this out earlier, the Framers of the Constitution as a group had the interests and future of their new country at heart a bit more than modern day politicians and judges do, and were certainly wiser.  There were 55 of them, and they debated every clause and word over a long hot Philadelphia summer in a stuffy meeting room.

I'll take the wisdom of Madison and Franklin over that of the Bushes, Clintons, Obamas and members of the Supreme Court every time.

If you want to change one of the cornerstones of the document, make your case and get an Amendment passed, but those who wish to replace the Electoral College will probably need a better reason for doing so than what we've seen so far.

Due to the many frustrated, disheleved, and head-banging Coast Insider complaints with the functioning of the new website, the pull-down under George has been modified in he following manner:

Sucks:  (There are tie-ins with this site and other that have places and referencing to George Sucks)
Television show (Canceled)
Redundant (There are references back to the other hosts' sites)
Events (It lists his retirement celebrations)
Nap (You are sent to a page of the website where you hear the sound of snores or some type of calming nature sounds to induce a mellow mood for sleep)

Change can be good after all.

I'm not crazy about the new C2C website design. Having text and pictures scrolling against a translucent picture is very distracting and when I scroll it makes me feel like I am on a fast elevator. Why cant they just use a flat color background?
I cant wait until the semi-translucent GUI fad dies.

JesusJuice

I liked the site design two versions ago. I absolutely hated it when they changed to the last one (the previous one). I got used to it. I don't even remember what the previous, previous version looked like anymore.

All sites are going to be optimized for mobile. Big ass images, sparse text, options and menu items hidden away so you can't find your way around the site anymore.

They could have sent home all the web developers a decade ago and the state of the net would be an improvement. For that matter most of the software developers as well. I think they are mostly around to dinker with things and break things and "improve" them later to justify their existence. The real improvements have mostly been in hardware. I had no problem with FF 17 or Skype 2.0 or XP. It begs the question if bloatware is driving the hardware industry as well which permits more bloatware development and the cycle continues with the law of diminishing returns taking hold.
