George Noory Sucks! - The Definitive Compendium

Started by MV/Liberace!, April 06, 2008, 12:23:02 AM

Can Noory pronounce anything correctly?

No
No

Will George be able to stop himself from commenting on Art's rumored return?  Will he say things that are sickeningly kind to try to stop Art from competing?

I bet he does, and I bet Art just laughs...

Harmness

Art had me hooked when he had the mand who came back from the dead. The man got hit by lightening and was dead for about a half hour. And that show described in detail what being dead was like. He told the entire story and his transformation into a better person. That was back in 2000. And I kept on listening for more of that kind of show.

I may not agree with John Wells all the time but he does a good job and seems to know the subject.

We liked Ian from the start. The books he was talking about were always interesting. And even the show about the baseball stadium that was old and the sounds of baseball games and cheers by fans was interesting. I am not a baseball fan but I listened to  the show.

If Premier wants to have Art back then I do believe that Noory may be yesterdays news. I hope. It may be that Noory is so bad that they may replace him.

Here's a little example of how Art differs from Jorch.

Several years ago he took a call from a guy who said he was a werewolf. Art sounded amused and asked what characteristics led him to believe that. He rattled off a couple of generic reasons but when he mentioned "constant hunger," that caught my ear...and Art paused with more interest as well. That was a defining moment when I realized Art's curiosity was piqued in the same ways as mine. He connected with a part of me.

Jorch has never done that. In fact, he's the opposite. He fosters a disconnect, an acute intellectual detachment, which is all the more discouraging and frustrating given the venue he presides over. Art can't come back soon enough.

First off: Hello! I'm new here. I have been following this thread for a long time and finally decided it's time to post.

I am a LONG TIME Coast-to-Coast AM listener... well I was. As long as I can remember, I was under the sheets in my room with one radio or another listening to Art Bell. Going back at least in to the early 1990's. I got in to what I later found out was a real thing called "AM DXing" trying to see how many stations I could get Art on and where they were, etc. Art Bell and Coast-to-Coast AM sparked a now decades old love affair with all things radio that I will never shake.

ANYWAY, George is terrible. JUST TERRIBLE. For years I suffered alone after I turned the show off in the mid-2000's before I realized they were so many other people that knew what I knew.

I could go one for pages about Noory's suckage, but I won't. Everything you've said is true: the man is sick in the head and his self delusion has ruined the show. He won't do open lines unless its to kill a half hour, and even then where Art would have gotten over a dozen good quality calls in, George takes two morons and yammers with them the whole time. He took Ghost-to-Ghost & the New Year's Predictions shows and TOTALLY RUINED THEM!!! He has a small group of circle jerkers that he has on CONSTANTLY so they can rub each others....egos. (seriously, Ed Dame hasn't gotten a prediction even close to right ...EVER... why is he on every other week!?!?!

Art Knapp is ok. John and Ian SUCK.

For instance, tonight I had a free night. No wife, no kids, no work tomorrow... Time to stay up and listen to Coast-to-Coast AM, (for the first time in a LONG time), I was actually really excited when I heard A) Open Lines, which are no called 'Naked Lines'??? and B)It wasn't George, it was John Wells!!! Well, the suck in that studio must be contagious because it is all kinds of suckage. In 2 1/2 hours John has talked about NOTHING for most of it and the calls they are getting are just lonely losers who just want to talk to someone.

It's pretty sad when the best part of your radio show is the bumper music... (which cannot be said when George is on air, he has the WORST taste in music)

I honestly think this show is going downhill fast. Art Bell used to blow through *GOOD* calls nonstop all night. John is obviously having to kill time in between calls. I'm tempted to call in just to see how easy it would be to get on.

George Noory kidnapped Coast-to-Coast AM, took it out in the desert, put a bullet in its head at close range and buried it in a shallow grave.

What he has done to this once great show should be criminal.

I think that beside George's sheer incompetence, modest intelligence and struggles with the English language, this is perhaps the single-greatest reason for dissatisfaction with his shows. He has the same guests year after year.

Of course the talk-show format just eats through guests, and good talk-show producers are in a never-ending battle to fill their shows with new and interesting personalities...except when they're on cruise control and just taking it easy, because you've had an audience handed to you on a silver platter, and no real competition.

Seems to me George in particular has relied very heavily on repeat guests. Just look at how many multiple-appearance guests that there have been since George took over in 2003. Of course Art had several "old reliables", but no one is complaining about Art's show having been stale. I did a quick scan of George's guests in the last 24 or so days (the first page in the archives for each month) of the months of October, November and December 2012. These are the names that seemed familiar to me and which I confirmed as having been guests 1) a minimum of 6-8 times 2) since 2003-04 or before. I'm sure I missed many guests who just weren't familiar to me and so I didn't check them to see how long they'd been guests.

But off the top of my head I recalled Richard C. Hoagland, LMH, Ed Dames, Stanton Friedman, Lionel Fanthorpe, Roger Leir and Michio Kaku. But in the three partial months I checked I also saw:

Stephen Greer
Joshua P. Warren
Glynis McCants
Dannion Brinkley
Whitley Strieber
Nick Redfern
Stan Deyo
Stephen Bassett
Nick Begich
Steve Quayle
Rosemary Ellen Guiley
Brendan Cook/Barbara McBeath
Seth Shostack
James Van Praagh
Katherine Albrecht
Daniel Durda
Rupert Sheldrake
Paola Harris
Joyce Riley
Paul Guercio
Jerome Corsi
Charles Shults III
Gerald Celente
Laura Weinstein
Dr. Bruce Goldberg
Graham Hancock
Mike Heiser
R. Gary Patterson
Howard Bloom.

There were a bunch I'm sure I overlooked.

I looked - just scanned really - at what amounted to less than 2% of the time George has had the chair as his own. I came up with over 35 names of guests George has had on at least 6 times, and in some cases like Hoagland's more than 50 times, since first appearing in at least 2003-04, if not earlier. What would the total number of such multiple re-run guests be if we did a real search?

You nailed it: the same guests, time after time, year after year.
Nicely done. Your list seems correct and I had a 'ding' go off in my head as I read each name. My own little test to see how many of those names Ive heard recently. While Im not a everyday listener, I do tune in from time to time. All too often that little 'ding' fires off. Ill wait long enough to see if it is a rerun and then I move on. Samo samo...
As far as getting new guests, and whether there are any more out there, Im sure there are many sci-fi authors more than happy to pimp their wares on C2C. Many a good interview came from Art and a writer who was willing speculate on where we are headed and whats coming next. I dont think noory has the chops to conduct such an interview. Other possibilities would be those we see on the various cable channels. How many have you counted that we've never heard on Coast? Figure in other areas of interest where the people involved would be great guests, and yet we hear the producers begging for guests right there oin the show. From noorys lips to us. Pretty sad when you have to go to the very folks who you are supposed to be entertaining, and have them do the job the so called producers are should to be doing. Dim witted host + lazy producers = sub-par program.  >:(

Hah! If Art comes back I bet George would kiss ass and try to look like he wants Art to return.  Just so he looks like a nice guy. George can finally retire like he promised us all those years ago  :P

When ever someone interesting calls in I prepare myself for disappointment,  because I know Jorch will never ask what we're all thinking & are itching to know. He seems to want to get rid of good callers. It's sooooooooo frustrating.  I know I shouldn't let it get to me but damn he makes me so angry sometimes.

You're probably thinking about Dannion Brinkley. His shows with Art were classics and he did become a better person, spending most of his time today working with veteran's hospice. When he's on with Noory, it's mostly mutual kissy-face, though.

It is like a law of physics: if George somehow lucks out and a guest or caller happens, just happens to strike on something interesting, something which make us sit up and listen, so that we all know the what the next question should be, what it must be....unfailingly that is when George will kill the interview dead with an inane or massively irrelevant comment or question, or drop the call. It's not that he just doesn't pull interesting stuff out, he actually kills every chance for fascination which might possibly exist. Uncanny.

This is George's largest crime.  It is often diagnosed as 'slow-witted' or 'not fast on his feet' or just plain dumb, but George is cat quick when it comes to ensuring anything interesting or thought provoking is strangled immediately..

We can be thankful for 2 things :

Jorch doesn't have a webcam ( as far as I know anyway ).

And he hasn't " improved " the " naked line " with him being naked in front of the computer on a web cam.

The cartoon on the other forum where Jorch and Tommy go to the zoo reminded me of this :

ELEPHANT SPRAYS SHIT ON MAN AT THE ZOO

And then there's this story :

Elephant Dung Coffee, the World's Most Expensive (Photos)

Miki Giles, from Hong Kong, tastes the Black Ivory Coffee at breakfast as Meena, a 6-year-old elephant stands nearby, at the Anantara Golden Triangle resort December 10, 2012 in Golden Triangle, northern Thailand.

More than 20 elephants in Northern Thailand’s Golden Triangle region produce the world’s most expensive coffee beans.

The elephants are being fed coffee cherries produced on nearby plantations, and then mahouts (elephant drivers) and their wives pluck the beans from the dung.
The beans are then sun-dried and roasted.

The coffee, called Black Ivory, is said to have an earthy and smooth flavor, but costs $50 for a cup and $500 per pound. It was first unveiled last month at several luxury hotels in Thailand, Maldives, and United Arab Emirates. The total supply for 2012 is 50 kg (110 pounds) with hopes for that to increase in 2013, depending on manpower.

To make a single kilogram of roasted coffee (2.2. pounds), approximately 10,000 beans are picked. Some are lost in the process because elephants chew them.
Research by Dr. Massimo in the Department of Food Science the University of Guelph in Canada, shows that elephants’ digestive enzymes break down the coffee protein, which is one of the main things that makes coffee bitter.

“In contrast to carnivores, herbivores such as elephants use much more fermentation for digestion. Fermentation is desirable in coffee as it helps to impart the fruit from the coffee pulp into the bean,” according to the company’s website.
The result is a particularly smooth cup of coffee.

There are other types of coffee that are produced in a similar manner.
In Indonesia, farmers produce kopi luwak, or simply civet coffee, by feeding civets the beans and using them after they are excreted. It is also one of the most expensive varieties in the world, costing upwards of $700 per kilogram, or $320 per pound.

Research by Dr. Massimo in 2002 deemed the kopi luwak coffee safe.

Gives a whole new meaning to Chock Full O' Nuts, doesn't it ?

I know he was on vacation the past few days, but has Snorge commented anywhere (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) on Art's recent Facebook or CoastGab "stay tuned" posts?

How about the part-time C2C hosts? Have any of them mentioned anything about Art's posts?

Thanks in advance for any info!  (Trying to catch up after a short C2C-type hiatus of my own.)

Nope, no comments and i don't expect any on the air either.
They don't acknowledge they read any non c2c websites or facebook sites, only the offical coast-to-coast-am facebook page.
You could try posting a quote of what Art Bell posted over there, but they would probably quickly remove it.
Would be fun to see that happen though...

I suspect that if they actually check their e-mail someone will ask about it, but they wont bring it up on air.  Unless a caller tries to ask. LOL They'll probably get dropped from the line.  "HELLO? HELLO? HELLO CALLER? where did he go?"

I think that George was very reluctant to take this "vacation" of his. And I wonder if these few days are John B. Wells' tryout for doing the whole show. Noory's ten-year anniversary marked what he once called his entire contract, maybe Premier or Clear Channel has the chance now to get rid of him without fear of lawsuit.

Just random thoughts.

Noory always has taken a week off vacation around the New Year all the past years, so thats not out of the ordinary.
However it is interesting that Art Bell made his 'announcement' during the week Noory was on vacation...

When you think about it......10 years worth of talk radio guests, 7 nights a week, 365 days a year. Eventually you run out of guests and topics, yet John B Wells held my attention for the last three nights. I was actually fascinated by the topics and interviews conducted by JB. Whats the difference? A host that has a passion for what he does, is the difference. Sadly, we haven't had one since Art left. Noory is on borrowed time and he knows it. Perhaps premrat was expecting his contract to blow up on Dec 21 2012 and didn't really worry about it, until now!

While I think Wells sometimes drones on and drags a bit, you've hit it exactly: a host who actually listens to what the guest is saying and becomes involved in a real give-and-take conversation without relying on cliche questions and one-size-fits-all comments, e.g. "No doubt about it," "Well, that's true, too" and "Good point."

i thinks he sucks on vacation too.  How would you like to be on a tour of Washington's monument with him and on the top staircase.  Imagine him pulling last nights tumeric dish from his teeth.  EWWWW!  What if he was on the Empire state building and his fake hair fell off?  the streets are corranded off because they think the building is crumbling and are being invaded by black widow spiders.

and finally what if he were abducted, but was beamed back down for rejection as a human speciman?  alien to alien,  "That man sucks!!"  Forgive me. ucks.

mombird3

I am Mombird's husband, another fan of Art Bell.  We both hope that Art's return lately will be a sign of something good on the horizon.  I remember many of the great Art Bell programs.  I do not enjoy Norry's imitations of the shows.  They seem to be only "same old, same old."  I like Wells very much.  We very badly need something of quality at that late hour.
On the old Hogland with Art, it was as if Art and Richard were having a mutually decent conversation, with opinions on both sides.  Now, Richard needs to "dumb it down," with Norry, unfortunately.
I hope that Art returns.  Keep doing what you do so well, Art.

Even Snorry's dog is trying to disassociate himself from Snorry.
