George Noory Sucks! - The Definitive Compendium

Started by MV/Liberace!, April 06, 2008, 12:23:02 AM

Can Noory pronounce anything correctly?

No
No

Noory admitted he "tries to convince scientists" there's something (god) to explain the beginning of the universe, etc.  I know this is obvious to most on the forum, but it's good to hear it straight from the horse's mouth.  THIS is one of the prime reasons I hate his hosting method.  A respectable and competent host doesn't try to persuade anyone of his personal beliefs, be they anti-science and pro-religion like Noory's.  Art Bell, while spiritual in his own way, didn't attempt to push his unimportant and irrelevant beliefs on you show after show after show.  WhatTF and WhyTF does Georgie have to convert us to his religious/spiritual beliefs?  Why is this important to the audience or a scientist he's "interviewing?"  Noory is a self-centered egomaniac and that's no coincidence.

Morgus

haha, noory's staff fooled him by playing an old Pat Boone song for the first half hour bumper music.
both noory and pat boone thought it was an emerging artist singer, and both didn't recognize the young pat boone singing... :D

anjac12

What can we do about getting Art Bell back on the air?  George sucks, and I can't listen to him any more.  The show has never been the same since Art left.  The show has more of a political feel to it these days.  Who misses the old days?  Wanna take a ride?  Please, bring back Art Bell.  At least, let's get George off of the air.

Morgus

tonight's c2c show has degenerated into a bible story sermon.
the guest even admitted he is in reality a pastor since the 1980s...

You're going to want to be sure to bring in a CD player to hear Pat cover Judas Priest, Deep Purple, AC/DC, Alice Cooper, Ozzy, Led Zep, Guns N Roses, Van Halen, Metalica, Jimi Hendrix...  For a laff, go to Amazon and listen to samples..

Well, unless he does Burzum I'm just not interested.

Welcome to Christ To Christ AM with George Noory.

Our guests tonight will include:

Fundamentalist nutjob Steve Quayle (for 30 seconds - the only reason he was on was so Noory could 'report' the story about Quayle's wife being arrested in a New York airport for having a gun in her purse).

Professional nice guy Pat Boone, here to pimp his new book, "Questions About God".

Airplane heir and pastor Gary Stearman, who will spend most of his three hours reading scripture to us (something Art didn't allow, and for good reason).

I ask again - whose fundamentalist Christian agenda is this, and why do the powers at Premiere let him or her get away with it ? I'm thinking now it must be Lisa Lyon.

Well, you know, dude is a Worker in the Light, after all.  And as such, it is his obligation and duty to enlighten us, the unwashed masses, to the truth.  I know this because Georgie said it on the radio.

Hold onto your hard-earned cash, General.

Last year, in an in-depth profile of the Snoron and Coast in the February edition of The Atlantic ("The Listener," available online), we learn that he drives a black Lincoln Navigator...

I'm picturing black with tinted windows, dirty, scratched up, some paint scraped off, crooked banged up fenders, giant crack across the windshield, one headlight not working, a missing hubcap, antenna still attached but sort of dangling, the thing sagging heavily to the side Tommy sits on...

I'll have to admit, when I heard Boone's interpretation of Smoke on the Water, it was the first time I actually understood 95% of the lyrics. I'm not saying I would put this album on my personal mp3 player - but it's at least not as bad as William Shatner's "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds." (which I also have)

Ooooooo, do you have William Shatner's new IRON MAN rendition???   ;D

That's the whole thing in a nutshell.  He's an egomaniac.  An insecure one at that.

Frys Girl

Noory does the whole "GOD" thing to scientist/wanna be scientists to make his religious audience feel relevant. I am a God-fear woman myself, but George Noory's approach is condescending and ignorant.

Also, I don't think he has any beliefs. I'd respect George Noory IF he actually had an informed, clear opinion. He won't pin himself down because he lacks courage and knowledge. Screw him.

Bart

I agree!  He only goes on about anything when it's a good chance to "draw another picture" of how sweet, wonderful, caring, God fearing, generous, helpful, and any other superlative adjectives (and he's always full of them!) George is.
I do believe I am done with c2c.  Good stuff on tv these days.  GN is too sick.

Morgus

get ready for more bible thumping tonight on c2c with frequent guest Stan Deyo, a survivalist bible thumper. :o

Easy there, Fab.  That stream of consciousness post had a distinct Steve Quayle vibe to it. :)

oops.  I've just had it in for Pat Boone for a long time.  I was at a dentist's office reading a Christian magazine when I was a kid.  This magazine had an advert w/Boone endorsing a kit to help Christians convert their Jewish friends.  For some reason, this TOTALLY offended me, though I'm not Jewish.

I figured that this was one way to make sure people LOST all of their Jewish friends, LOL.

Actually, the arrangements are pretty good - IF you appreciate big-band/jazz music - I played in a "big-band" for a number of years, including Maynard Fergusonesque bands (played with Maynard's band a few times).

I have a lot of music/albums - not because I necessarily like it/them, but just because I can - someone is bound to request it sometime :)

So for those who are intrigued, here is a high-quality (320Kb/s) rip of Pat Boone's album:

http://www.rapidshare.com/files/3448251789/Pat.Boone-In.A.Metal.Mood.No.More.Mr.Nice.Guy-1997.rar

Now this is the one reason I respect Pat Boone.  I don't think that Boone released this album just to sell out.  I'll bet you that he got all kinds of crap from his "base" for releasing it.  I'm guessing that Pat did this as a labor of love.  Seriously, I think that Boone really dug metal.  He took a real chance here.

You think that conservative Christians can't love metal?  Ever hear of Stryper????

The contrast between Art Bell and Jorch couldn't be clearer in this example.  With Art, you always know where he stands.  He tells you what he thinks -- and if you don't like it, too bad.   It's funny too, because when someone would challenge him, sometimes he'd get a little testy, but so what?

The "Nightline" interview with George underscores this.  The interviewer asks him about UFOs and other paranormal activity and he just won't give a straight answer about what he actually believes.   When asked about the "elites" he claims are taking over the world, he says "we won't name names."

And he won't deal with -- well, he can't deal with unscreened calls, either.

Art's interviewing skills set him far above George as well.  Look, literally a hundred people showed up one Saturday sometime ago near Ellensburg, WA, some driving from as far as California -- to try to find "Mel's Hole," cheerfully "guided" by Red Elk (he sat there holding court, grinning like the cat that ate the canary).   The point being as absurd as "Mel's" story was, it was like "War of the Worlds" in that a lot of people fell for it, because Art played it just right...

I lost that 'Worker in the Light' feeling as soon as I heard Georgie was using his 'Worker in the Dark' negative energies on the guy who was with the woman he wanted to....talk to (using index cards, no doubt).  Remember the dude who called up a couple of weeks ago, referencing Noory's evil ways and attributing it instead to Art Bell?  I think Punnett was hosting that night. Thankfully, he did make a 'Georgie did it!' correction shortly afterwards.  But how many Nooryites didn't hear it and now think ill of Bell when it was their prophet who was "truly" evil. :o

Frys Girl

I even give Art credit for taking a view on global warming, regardless of whether the Prem Rat audience agrees. Noory doesn't even take a stand "we MIGHT be in an ice age. Some think we're cooling. I don't know about this!" I hate the ambiguity and refusal to take a stand.

It brings to mind the old adage "if you stand for nothing you'll fall for anything."

Sheery Tenpenny is on Coast to Coast AM now? UM.......... George Noory is seriously turning his show into The Power Hour. Between the Christian leanings and the health food show, George Noory is copying The Power Hour format. Joyce Riley where the fack are you? You weren't afraid to go up against the military, so George Noory and Premiere Radio are small potatoes, right?

Howard Bloom and the glory of the "wall street protesters."  He said he hopes the police will "help" them.  Help them what?  Round up the fat cats?  And then what?  Where is this going?  I'm watching msnbc right now (Morning Joe is cool, CNN doesn't know what to do with itself, and that Carol Costello is an idiot, and although I'm a right wing loon, I've had it with Fox and Friends) and some guy has charts showing how America's decline can be directly blamed on the greedy rich.  I don't appreciate being manipulated into hating someone who has more stuff than me.  Sometime between grade school, the army, 9/11, and now, I grew up, and I am keenly aware that if I'm presently stuck at couple of crappy jobs, it is probably related to me deciding on "finding myself" instead of finishing college.  Later today Apple will hold some sort of press event where they will unveil their next gizmo thing.  Should we round up those fat cats now, or should we let them go ahead and change the world, and then round them up?
Anyway, George also had on Stan Dayo (and his wife Holly) because it's been almost a week since he was on last, and so much has transpired in the world of "impending doom" than he just had to come back and updated us on how the Chinese and the Russans and the Iranians are gonna attack us, and earthquakes and sunspots are gonna to split the country in half, and George thinks "pontificate" and "procrastinate" are interchangeable, and what is it with George, whenever someone has just rattled off a list of facts, saying "that's a great story"?  It wasn't a story, George.  It wasn't a story.

A straight answer would open the door for further questioning.  Noory's nightmare.

Valdez, you are an outright gift to this forum.  This was beautiful.

Ha ha.  I'm awakened by Dayo rattling off a list of facts and George saying, "That's a good point," just as he goes to commercial break.  And I'm thinking, "Damn it, George, when are you going to learn the difference between a fact and a point (claim) about something?"

He doesn't know the difference, the moron.  He just opens his mouth and whatever spills out, spills out.

Great line.

Ol' Stan and Holly also agreed with Noory that when (not if, I guess) the gynormous tsunami hits the east coast, the best way to use your 8 hours notice would be to walk the 30 miles west to safety, since anybody can cover 5-6 miles an hour for 5 or 6 hours 'without breaking a sweat'. Those folks are in serious shape.

Yes, exactly.  As long as people buy into the victim role that GN's C2C (and quite often the media in general) sells, the less likely that things will improve.  So easy to sit back and point fingers than to suck it up and take some kind of action.

LMAO @ Carol Costello. That poor woman used to do local reporting here. Her voice was kind of deep from what I remember..... ugh tv news.

like my friends who are pissed because their rock bands didn't get signed.  but while they were partying their asses off i was at home teaching myself computer programming and web design/development.  and they hate that i have money and a nice car.  the problem with taking the long shot is that when it doesn't pay off ( and it frequently doesn't - hence the term long shot ) you've got absolutely nothing
"finding yourself" is for people with trust funds.  everyone else is just asking for trouble

Rico999

I don't know how he does it, but he does it (again) dept.:

Toward the end of hour #2, speaking with Stan and Holly Deyo, George makes the following statement:
"...Ice caps are beginning to melt, more and more and more, some of them, unh, two or three hundred, uh, years old., they're gone....what's happening there, Stan?"

I don't know where to start with that gem, but it sure as hell is vintage Noory.

Rico999

Note regarding the Wall St protesters and the others like it in many other cities:  The way I see it is the protest isn't about people harassing people who happen to be ultra-wealthy just for the hell of it -- or because of jealousy.  That's a straw man argument that comes straight out of the Koch Bros. playbook.   Same deal with the "bootstrap" argument.   Rather, the dominant theme of this protest, insurrection, call it what you will, is to make the clear statement that when wealth becomes highly concentrated,  there is a direct correlation of greater authoritarian control and less democracy.  This isn't my opinion -- it's factual and the examples are many.  You won't hear that from FNC, CNN or MSNBC or any other corporate media source, however.  Unfortunately, because of legislation and favorable decisions from courts,  wealth, power, media, etc  have, over the last 30 years or so, become concentrated in a very tiny minority -- the latest figures I see are that the wealthiest 1% own 42% of the wealth in this country, by far the highest concentration in the history of this country.  This extreme concentration of wealth is one of the reasons for the erosion of the middle class, and the cause of the working class to become the working poor -- with much-reduced opportunity for upward mobility.

Because this wealth and power is so highly concentrated and worse, consolidated to an unprecedented degree (both major parties are a two-headed monster, owned by their corporate masters), the outlook for true democracy here in the US is pretty grim.

So yeah, as an individual who values his freedom -- you know, the kind of freedom where it's not difficult to register to vote, where elections are honest, where there's a lot of truly independent media to choose from,  where we have oh hell, 5 or 6 major political parties, representing the entire spectrum of political thought in this country, with a wide variety of candidates who don't talk the same old shit year in and year out, to where a corporation isn't regarded as a "person," where trying to unionize a workplace isn't extremely difficult -- stuff like all that for starters -- then I'd say the people raising hell on Wall St. have a legitimate beef.   Right now, the playing field is so tilted that it's ridiculous.

WOTR

The last few pages have made me really happy that I have not been able to catch coast for the last few days.  I also won't be able to catch it for the next three.

I will be attending a three day waste and recycling conference.  I will report back if they have found any way to deal with the constant stream of waste that Noory produces each night.  However, I regret that this conference does not touch on toxic waste and as such fear that I may find no real solutions (certainly what he produces is unsuitable for recycling...)

The Fred Bell and Glenn Kimball tribute shows went so well George is going ot make it a regular feature the last hour on Fridays.

Depending on the celeb that dies, George will have Tommy play a random hour from a movie or TV show they were in, speeches, random tracks from their CDs, whatever they can find.  He's considering similar Monday and Thursday tributes for birthdays and anniversaries..
