Can Noory pronounce anything correctly?

It's an absolute catastrophe.  It's reminds me of the utter frustrations I had awhile back with the guest expert in early gothic/horror/mystery literature.  Another complete waste of a promising guest.

I don't remember that episode.  That would be a subject that I could totally get into.  Dave Schraeder had a good show about Edgar Allan Poe on Tuesday.

It's amazeen that out of 8 hrs. of show prep, the deepest insight George had tonite about the guest's book was: "I really like the subtitle."

The guest was Leslie Klinger, a knowledgeable enthusiast of Lovecraft, Poe, Doyle, Stoker, Dickens, etc.  George's big contribution was how much he loved the movie "Oliver".

Once I heard George ask "If you could have the answer to any question what would it be?" Followed by "It could be anything..." I turned it off. The guy asks nothing of substance, and is truly intellectually lazy.

His intellectual curiousity is actually wispier than Aerogel.

That`s a new one for George to go with "I really like the picture on front", " I like how the book cover is rubbery", " Where was that picture of you on the back taken?"  and perhaps the most telling, "This is one BIG book!".  What a lazy buffoon.

That's precisely the reason why Noory's Linda Moulton Howe interviews are his best shows.

These "interviews" have become such a joke, it would be better for everyone if Noory changes the format of Coast so that the guests present an uninterrupted two-three hour lecture, followed by listener calls in the last hour.

LMH is a class act and really on top of her game.  I'd like to hear HER interview Mlodinow.   Will check the replay of last night's so-called "interview" with Mlodinow, but from the comments I see here, Mlodinow must've really had to work hard to not laugh at Noory.   He must've thought Noory's educational level was somewhere about grade 3.

Shtick to the patent-medicine infomercial stuff and wacky land conspiracies Dave -- you're way out of your league with the real stuff.

George insists on trying to educate scientists. I paraphrase: Isn't Stephen coming round to believing, as I do, that it is an Intelligent Design? He has used the same nonsense with Michio: "I told Michio it's an Intelligent Design!"  If self-awareness makes us human then GN must be a slothful slug.

Whenever dave has a thought it is a "eureka" moment.

And don`t you like the way Noory jumps in to finish a guest`s statement like "Of course,I always knew that!".

Besides the obvious mispronunciations, oddly split shows, and inane and same-old, boring 3x5 card questions the other big difference I've notice between C2C in Art's days and under Norry's aegis is the simply lack of interest. Almost every show Norry says "let's wrap this thing up" and seems in a hurry to get the show over. He also cuts to a break anytime something interesting or poignant comes up and then once back in show the subject is changed.  :o Whereas Art seemed interested and would often run out of time with a guest; leaving the guest and himself (and the listener) wanting more.

The tape loop of Dave's basic disbelief in the Big Bang (minus an "intelligent" designer, i.e., God) and the evident reality of anthropogenic climate change just keeps running and running.  He really wants to be "right," but his complete lack of understanding of how science works prevents him from growing beyond his belief system.

Fortunately for him, Mlodinow has a good sense of humor and understands that being on Coast translates into book sales.   Otherwise why would he spend 3 hours with a guy like Dave?  I listened to an hour and a half of the replay of last night's program and it's obvious Dave just doesn't have the capacity or the desire to think beyond what he already knows and is comfortable with.

This lack of mental agility really shows up in an interview like this one (and pretty much all of his interviews) when he constantly misses and/or avoids obvious followup opportunities.

Give Art Bell the same guy to interview and everyone would be stimulated and would learn something.  With Dave, it's just a waste of time unless you listen for the comic relief.

I honestly stopped listening to C2C years ago, except when George Knapp is on.  Now that you all have created a new sport, "DaveIsm Spotting", I might tune in now and again!

Ha yeah this happened several times last nite e.g. when guest mentioned how important Max Planck was to the revolutionary leap of quantum theory.  Noory said something like "Yes, he sure was!"  It's like, um, dude thanks for giving your official confirmation of something you have no clue about.

I quit listening a while back, but occasionally a guest will come along that you want to hear... or you just want to tune in to see how much of an ass George can make of himself when he knows little of the subjects. Last night didn't disappoint, and the split format only makes things worse. Whoever came up with that idea should be fired alng with Noory for sucking.

Just once I wish a guest would then respond by asking George what other opinions he had about the person's work

Every so often a guest calls him out, a bit, or, more usually, sounds frustrated by the lack of attention (frequently you will hear a guest respond to a question "as I just said" or "as I just explained..." They often then experience "phone problems" and we get dear old Lionel or Joshua P Warren.

He also has an annoying habit of trying to insinuate himself into other people's narratives and experiences. I can't recall a precise example, but if he were interviewing, say, Edmund Hilary about his ascent of Everest, and Hilary were to say, 'And so we finally reached the summit. It was a breathtaking moment, but it was very windy and, of course, very very cold', Noory would interject 'It was freezing!' as though he were there with him.

He's so on automatic when he throws phrases of this type out. This must be when he's watching the clock.

Last night's show was an abomination. Trajectory of Science is the title for that show on the Coast website, it should be called George Noory Attempts to Learn All About Science but Fails Miserably.

As you probably heard, he says he would ask Stephen Hawking about what it's like to be disabled. What the fuck does he think its like? He also drew attention to Hawking's advancing age and declining health condition, then he says he would ask him if stem cells would help him. After practically or prematurely sending him off to the graveyard, what is it exactly that could help him Jorch?!

This show was not just another GN doozy but possibly the biggest GN doozy of them all!

It's clear the listenership has gone down steadily and more rapidly...that is also true for most of terrestrial radio...so the ads have also gone down in cost for advertisers...therefore, they stick around giving the illusion not much has changed!...oh, but it has changed!...Dave is like the Big Mac at McDonalds...McYD''s is going down tast...they still have the Big Mac, but change is coming NYE! I think Art is at the head of that wind of change!

I'm not saying that George sucks or is presently engaged in crapping his pants, but he does and he is.

YUP! What is killing McYDs is the competition from GOOD TASTING FOOD, In-N-Out, Freddies, 5 Guys, etc...they are spreading and people, even kids begin to taste quality! Now, Art will give his brand of Tasty Talk! No more corporate, watered down swill!
