Yep -- that's what we got. It is administered by the U.S. Census Bureau so my wife and I just assumed we had somehow "lucked" into the long form since it had all the warnings that we MUST fill the thing out and mail it in to the Census Bureau. Apparently we STILL have to fill out the normal form in addition to this mammoth book because we just got that one in the mail.

You're right -- here's the site: http://www.census.gov/acs/www/SBasics/acs_2010.htm. Response is required by law.

Well that's lame. I don't really know the history of the American Community Survey -- never heard of it before -- but it's almost as if they just *renamed* the long form and are still sending it out. That is... not... really cool. :)

Also, I couldn't find one media outlet that has reported what you and I just figured out in like... 4 minutes of work. Usually this is where I respond "I wish I was surprised," but damn -- I *am* surprised. That's really, really, really EXTRA sad.

So I did an extra 45 seconds of research on this American Community Survey, and ccording to Wikipedia, anyway, it's new. This is the first year it's been officially implemented:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Community_Survey

Looks like there's some issues with this page, and I haven't read the talkbacks yet, or checked sources, but at least according to this, it literally is what I guessed above -- they gave the US Census long form a new name.

They just renamed it.

?!?

My bad -- there is one important distinction. Wheras the old Census long form was mailed out once a decade to select famlies, the American Community Survey is mailed out to 250k families *monthly*.

Wow, that is... Not what I expected. I came on here thinking Jones and Norry and Bachman and Beck and all those other tea party neo-con asshats were overreacting without having the full story, but now...

Shit, I kinda get what they're saying.

/edit for grammar

An online petition has been created to replace snoory as the c2c host. Here is the link if you want to check it out.

And, yes, I have signed it.

Yep, must be getting ready for that presidential run.

First hour with Mish Shedlock talking about ObamaCare.  It seemed he and George were against it, but neither of them really knew what all was really in the bill beyond the fact that its expensive as hell.  George invited callers to tell their medical horror stories, which has recently been a left wing tactic used to browbeat the public into accepting the legislation.  All I know is anything that Nancy Pelosi endorses has got to be pure poison for this grand republic.
Later we got a whole bunch of rank speculation from Professor Carmen Boulter and her mysteries of ancient Egypt.  Teleportation?  Really?  And then everyone just kind of forgot how to do it?  I'm getting so tired of this crap.
It seems George has taken a show about the mysteries of life, where Art would question and wonder and attempt to get to the heart of things, and turned it into a three ring circus.  Hear the legends of ancient astronauts!  Fear the destruction as foreseen by the Mayans!  Meet the man with two heads!
Some guy called in wondering "how do you know if you're talking to a shape shifter?" Well, lets see.  If you're talking to someone, and they turn into a ham sandwhich, then he's probably a shape shifter.  Go back to bed you %&*! moron.

BWAHAHAHAH!!!!

Among the mysteries of the universe are what exactly was George thinking when he asked this question to Dr. Laurie Ann Levin:  "...Being a psychologist, have you dabbled in the subconscious and conscious crossing over into the conscious and subconscious?"

Been trying to think of a clever response but smoke is starting to come out of my ears.  Think I fried some circuits. :(   OMG-the subconscious and conscious
crossing over into the conscious and   subconscious.
???       Bonehead. :P

I'm sorry -- I actually had to pick myself up off the floor after laughing so hysterically at that one that I couldn't move my legs! I still have tears coming out of my eyes. I think it's because, even though I didn't hear the show, I could hear George's serious but excited tone as he asked that question.

i think he felt he was laying a real heavy one on her.

     Memo to George:
Art does not fill in for you.  You fill in, albeit poorly, for Art.

Tonight George said that he had just seen the movie, 2012.  He said it was scary, but he assured us that it was in no way representative of what would acutally occurr, so there was no need to worry.
Thank you, George, for treating me like an idiot.

OK, does anyone remember a few years ago when the Gilded Turd was obsessed with a dream he had about 3 giant tornadoes roaring through downtown LA and destroying everything in sight? (it may have been St Louis actually)  I mean he fustigated that deceased equine for like two months...tried to tie it in to "Day After Tomorrow" (so he could, moon-like, basked in reflected glory again) and God knows what all else.  I VERY SPECIFICALLY recall him stating that his own psychic ability allowed him to perceive this dream as a 2012 harbinger with his spastic colon talking to him again--"feel it in my gut".  So someone needs to false-flag themselves into "om-phen lines" and bust his balls:
"What is REALLY gonna happen psychic boy?   Is the world gonna end or not?  If not, WHY have you been panic-mongering and if so, why are you now retracting?"

I mean, seriously, his 2012 obsession and now his waffling about it are really starting to take me past the point of ridicule with him to the point of wanting him to choke on his own vomit (or that of Tom-Tom, whichever...)
**M**

Is George's Ego so big that no other host is allowed to take unscreened calls (except Art)?  OR is Ian and Knapp too afraid to take unscreened calls?

As a side note, I can't remember: did George take unscreened calls when he first took over? (never really liked him, thus never listened to him closely; I saw through him much faster than most)  Also, has Ian ever taken unscreened calls (I never gave him a shot untill about 2 years ago, and he hasn't taken them in that time).

Also, say what you want, but George Noory might be the biggest scum bag of all time.  I honestly think ANYONE could host the show better than he.  His knowledge base is soooo weak.  What is the highest level of education he has achieved?

Zaqir

It must be april fools because Graham is on, and i have nothing against him, i make the april fools joke because it was a good show DESPITE GEORGE! Graham can talk and talk and talk, the show only hits a snag when George who clearly has not listened to a word Graham said doesn't follow up and switches topics at random.

Oh the best part was George being George.

"Graham I don't want to ruin the ending of your book but the main character dies"

HOLY CRAP what an idiot.

valdez

Graham Hancock was ok.  But Lindsey Williams came on strong and never let up.  He says he is in contact with the real rulers of the world and has been given permission to speak.
    And sell DVDs.

I suspect a call-in 'protocol' has been established around Snoory and everyone else needs to conform.  Knapp and Punnett probably need to be political or else see their gigs on C2C disappear if Snoory had a sense of being threatened. A real shame.

I wouldn't attack Snoory personally, but it is clear he is not cut out for the job, and C2C is a deteriorating asset under his care.  It is quite comical how practically every post on this forum ends up as a Noory spankfest given people's level of frustration.

Graham Hancock was excellent.  About the DVD's, remember, he did not copyright them and therefore you can still spread his word around.  However, if you want to spread the word, you must make that initial investment.

I see the market for another DVD.  "How to shill your DVD's and not be called on it."  Now if I can get my plug in.  I am working on this high intensity sure to sell marketing tool.  Stay tuned for details.  (j/k)

Pseudonaut

I missed the first half of the G Hancock interview, but the part that I heard was almost nothing but a shameless advertisement for his new novel. Between that, and the infantile questions coming out of Noory's mouth, it was too much, and I had to shut it off before too long.

There was one point where he said something like: "It is my belief system's... uh ... belief... that, you know, when people die... Y'know, we play a lot of Frank Sinatra bumper music on this show, and its just a really depressing thought to think that when someone dies, that's it for them! And, you know, I just refuse to believe that."

Graham is fascinating!  Yes, IN SPITE OF GEORGE, Graham's program last night kept me awake and engaged.

I noticed a couple of times (probably more) that Graham was "taken aback" by the ridiculous comments or questions  that GN asked him.  HOW EMBARRASSING!

Hi to every one on the tread.. I'll like to say that I admire the work you are doing, cause I too long for the day when that cheesy bastard Snoory is off the air.

Kind regards

I love the long pause after a guest realizes that he/she is talking to a complete idiot... priceless.
