George Noory Sucks! - The Definitive Compendium

Can Noory pronounce anything correctly?

No

Morgus

Noory just did it again - he dumped his main guest early with only 2 hours tonight in order to have the final hour be open lines...

I'm really excited for the open lines tonight. And for the special hotline. I wonder what mysterious topic it will be. George is the best!

You know the, uh, the asteroids, you know once they went flying after this thing blew up, I want to ask you what you think might have happened astrologically**.  Um, those things scattered everywhere then.  You know all the pocket marks*** we see on plat**** Earth and the moon and Mars and probably Venus, do you think they all came from that planet that blew up?"

George 'I just get physics' Noory

Morgus

Noory is telling another new story of his childhood, twice already tonight.
He claimed he got a telescope when he was 12 years old and joined "the telescope club"

..."Is there any dangerous wildlife in that area, like Polar Bears?"...

That Polar Bear thing was freaky.  Although George does it all the time (asking a question that has just been answered), tonight it was so immediate and blatant.  Robert Zubrin's Mars project sounds cool:  one year on an uninhabited island that maintains a temperature of -50 degrees, and you get to wear space suits.  James Mullaney spent the first half of his interview saying, "I'm not really sure...I'm not versed in that area..I don't know..." because "show prep" George doesn't bother, or care, to know what a guest has come to talk about.  Eventually George caught on and they talked about the universe, where George said things like, "its wonderful, isn't it?...I think the asteroid belt was a planet, what caused it to explode?...why did that planet explode?...it's fascinating, isn't it?...what caused that planet to explode?...amazing, isn't it?...about that planet..."

cool

Doomed

Dammit! I sit here in total disbelief at the complete dooficity noory exhibits each and every night. And if there happens to be a guest worth listening to, noory manages, each and every time, to bung it up with his stoopid remarks or equally dumb questions.
I wish a guest who is well known, has enough credibility, and the chops to call george on many of his idiot moves, would come on the show. In advance I would send that guest a message in advance of the program, pleading that they listen to one of the programs, or, at best, pay close attention to what noory says, and then call him out on it. The guest would have to be big enough that noory wouldnt dare kick him, or her, to the curb. But it will never happen. The current group of guests noory has gathered are dependant on him to pedal their books and what not. Just one guest...a beefy personality...with the chops to do it. Thats all we need.

Doomed

Sorry about that outburst, but like Valdez, I became irratated when noory burned up airtime by asking the same question more than once. For me anyway, its hard to concentrate on what the guest is trying to say when jorch is fartin' around looking for something to say. Mustve dropped his notes. Zubrins interview wouldve been a "Classic" if handled by a competant host. All those follow up questions that never were. What a shame.

Noory (paraphrased): When I was a little boy, about 12, I was in the telescope club. My teacher said that the asteroid belt was an area where an object just never kind of collated itself together. I said "NO! It's a planet that exploded."

Well, now we know for sure. Astronomical information on C2C-AM is at the level of a 12 year old kid in Detroit.

I'm starting to think that after the guest has had enough of inane, redundant questions that they are dumping Noory.

I have finally understood what George is supposed to do with C2C: turn it into a hookup show for transgenders and atheists. Hey, transgenders have an especially difficult time with dating, And, judging from Bill the atheist astronomer it must be very tough for atheists to find someone who isn't made physically ill by the merest contact with him. And for those who hit the jackpot and are transgender atheists (there have to be some) the show could be a real help.

So why not? After all, C2C as created by Art Bell is clearly dead, and never to return. Listening to the callers, the show's audience has been reduced to just those who exist at the very margins of society. We might consider including the morbidly obese in the new C2C format, if there is any evidence they form a significant part of the audience. I don't think so, though. Research shows that even the painfully damaged morbidly obese have too much self-respect to be caught dead listening to Noory's C2C. (They moved to Whitley Strieber's show years ago.)

So let George run a "Dating Game" for post-surgical trannies. George apparently feels at home with this crowd. And we can all move over to Jim Harold's Campfire podcasts. It's more like Art's C2C by a mile anyway.

What the fuck do transgender people have to do with Noory ruining the show? You're a fucking hateful asshole, I hope you get stabbed.

A cool set-up... the middle of nowhere... somebody with a brain and an interest in science and the unknown... sound familiar?  Maybe they can also start broadcasting a quality nighttime radio show and save us all from "The Attack of The Nooron."

Hahahaha... thank you, Admiral Noory!  ;)

...aaaaand we're off and running!

So, "What the fuck do transgender people have to do with Noory ruining the show?" Not a damn thing, you trolling jackass. That's not what I said, and no reasonable person would infer it.

I didn't find Sardoni's post discriminatory other than to say Coast should reinvent itself as a gathering place for people who may have extra challenges in trying to fit in.   I read it carefully because although I used that description in my post to help identify the caller, I really wasn't sure it was appropriate for me to do so.  It was probably poor judgement on my part.

What he doesn't understand is that Coast was ALWAYS a gathering place for people with extra challenges fitting in. Instead he focused on two groups of people he doesn't seem to like. As the  song says, the freaks come out at night.

I am upset he didn't mention the homeless. Although, I can see how one may be offended by what he wrote. Sensibilities are what they are. If one is upset, it is reasonable to question the provocation. But the hope you may get stabbed may have been just a bit (just a bit mind you) over the top.

I listened to a bit of the show last night, drifting in and out of consciousness (from sleep, not nefarious substances!).  First time in long, long months I've even tried.  I actually enjoyed the guest, but found Noory's quesions mostly pretty dreadful.  Still, something about listening to a passionate person talk about space travel, interplanetary exploration was quite fun.

It's pointless to say, "Oh, how great the show would have been if only Art...."  I wish he'd come back, but I can't think of a lot of broadcasters his age who make a strong go of it.  Walter Cronkite and Daniel Schorr remained active in a smallish way into their late 80's, early 90's.  But there's a big difference between a once-a-week five minute review of major political news stories and a late-night, five-night-a-week program.  Those who DO still attempt such broadcasting do so with limited success.  I think, for instance, that Michael Savage (is he still on?) just turned into a lazy crank after he hit 70.  (Yeah, I didn't think much of him ever, but still....)

that may have happened with some previous guests already, but they have 'disappeared' mysteriously when Noory dumps them early with no explanation...

Portals, portholes, pot holes.... maybe Noory should just invoke the "What difference does it make!!!" defense.  ;)

Well, let's just throw "pot stickers" in there and see what kind of a difference it makes.

One time not so many nights ago I think I heard George actually think to himself 'screw it, nobody is listening anyway.'  Not out loud of course, but he was reading a news story and fumbled badly trying to say "silver polar bear dollar."  He followed that with "silver bear dollar" a few seconds later as if he just couldn't be bothered.

This is my first post.  I've been reading posts here for about six months and have been not only thoroughly entertained but subjected to the stark reality that Noory sucks bigtime at this gig and ruined C2Cam. I listen to Art Bell repeats over and over again and would much rather do that than listen to the drivel that comes out of Noory's mouth. I cringe when he mispronounces words and uses mixed metaphors but mostly, he is paying NO attention to what the hell is even being said.  He's about as entertaining as a heart attack and worse than listening to my mother-in-law.  Count me in as one of the "haters."  I cancelled everything because the entertainment value I get from this bush league program is three rungs below my annual colonoscopy.

More likely when he first heard about "the asteroid belt", he tried to buy one in gold; size 40; to go with his leisure suit wardrobe.
