George Noory Sucks! - The Definitive Compendium

Started by MV/Liberace!, April 06, 2008, 12:23:02 AM

Can Noory pronounce anything correctly?

No
No
''... Once upon a time, Larry King ruled the U.S. late night radio airwaves, welcoming a wide assortment of guests and putting his personality stamp on each late hour. That honor now belongs to Noory, bracketed by the opening sounds of Giorgio Moroder’s “Chase” and the closing music of Cusco’s “Inca Dance.” ''

Just, wow.

'''... Today, Premiere Networks is gifting fans of the program with the best possible news. Noory is on board for at least several more years to come...''

They spelled grifting wrong

My husband was listening to C2C with me and caught one of George's verbal flubs. It was during one of the Super Beet promos- where he intended to say, "Super Beet juice" but it came out sounding more like "douche", he immediately corrected himself by saying 'juice". He was probably going to say "Super Beet Drink" - he got the 'D' out but then added the 'joosh'. Looks like Premier's faith in him isn't misplaced- he just powered through that like the professional he is.  ;) Did anyone else hear this? I'd go back and listen but I don't want to spend the 15 cents.

Who knows- maybe a new product is on the way. Tommy will have to make room for it on his card table.

Those are the little verbal landmines that wake you when you are dozing off to the show.

If that is not a slapdown for Art, I am not sure what else it could be.

That, and George's ego comparing himself to Larry King.  Why not Johnny Carson?

Why does everyone here hate George Noory?

Oh, yes.  I remember when Crazy Kevin first blessed us with Future Jorch.  Still freaky as hell.  I just can't believe it also included Mini Tommee.  :o

LOL, only Future Jorch & Mini-Tommee could surpass Kev's own self-portraits.

Kevin hasn't posted in quite some time. I'm hoping he is getting the help or meds he needs. I think he honestly was crazy with his hybrid beliefs and costumes/rants. Though it could be he morphed into some kind of animal that has no digits with which to type, I guess.
Maybe he is somewhere in the audience with all the cat-ladies on fixed incomes?

Why does everyone here hate George Noory?

I can only speak for myself but it's the pretense, obligated praise and pandering by guests, shallow hucksteresque quality, and implied 'mission', that I find irksome.  All this overblown fluff to fill four hours- sort of like the cotton candy of radio. I don't hate the man. The birthday show was just silly like it was the year before and the year before that and...

Other than that- he's fine.  :)

Same thought here.  Heh, "Art, who?"  Mr. Bell are you reading this?  Too bad you can't sue for lack of respect.

Don't hate the man. More like disgust with what he has turned c2c into.

Maybe you should listen to a show and then start reading here:

Ha!  Yes, other than being the least talented, most shameless huckster on the radio, he's just dandy.

I don't hate the guy, although some here really seem to.  Alot of us are just still bummed about the direction Mr. Noory took the show, that Art pioneered.  Some of the guest hosts, for me particularly Knapp & Syrett, are closer to the style and substance of the old c2c.  But George himself is like a self-contained universe of issues that just keeps begging for jibes and jests.

Hmmmm.  Just registered today on BG.  If you'd asked "Why does everyone hate my little Jorgie," I'd say "Hi, Ma Noory." So instead I'll say "Welcome back, PremRat shill!"

Plus he's absolutely awful.

I'm guessing a simple change of name to ''The George Noory Show'' and a lot of the on-line commentary goes away.  If it was good enough for Larry King, then George ought to have his name on his show too.

I'd be happy with "The Jorch Noory Sucks Show!".

I don't think people hate him but there's just so much to mock about him. I think there's a large contingent of Coast listeners, me anyway, who are late night talk radio fans and there's not much choice these days in the wee hours of the morning. Jorch is just so mediocre, his guests several rungs below that it does frustrate me. The whole tacky paranormal industry is worthy of parody and scorn, it looks and sounds like a traveling carnival's sideshow tucked away off the midway, the intoxicating smell of vomit and cotton candy wafting through the airwaves.

That's how I think of most everybody in the Coast family,  they're carnies, some are freaks. Jorch himself isn't strange or interesting, he's just lucky to have inherited a show from Art Bell - Art did all the work, gave Coast its mystique, Jorch will always just be the caretaker.  There's no competition at that hour of the night, Coast makes money for Premier, it's impossible to screw up which is why Jorch keeps his job. He's a letdown to people like those who post here but we're a small part of the audience.

Well yeah, there's that lol.  Next time someone asks us why we're 'haters' we should just say "Go to a random page of this thread, and repeat until you have your answer."

Still I have to admit, for some reason he doesn't bug me as much as years ago.  I think I'm finally learning the fine art of not caring.  It's one of the higher levels of Noor-lightenment.

Fairly early on I just listened for the unintentional humor.  And hoped he would get better.  Like most people, I had to get up in the morning, so I didn't really listen to him or Art for more than the first hour or so, unless they had a really good guest or topic.

One night he actually had a guest on I was interested in, probably alternative history, and I noticed he asked the same lame-ass questions that he had asked the other time he had the same guest on, and then noticed they were the same questions he always asked.  He asked a question the guest had just spend 15 minutes on, including the answer to George's question.  He asked the same question again a little later.  Then he cut the guest off just as he was finishing up something I really wanted to hear the end of, went to a commercial, and never got back to having him finish the story.  I realized The Snorge was never going to improve.

I had Ancient Aliens on one night, one of the first episodes, and while I was in the kitchen I heard that voice.  Horrified and outraged I Googled ''George Noory Sucks''...

I hope this helps our new poster from PremRat

Was listening (and calling into) MITD, so I escaped hearing  The Putin-porn tonight. How bad was it?

I would say is kind of what you expect, the guest being a Russian apologist or underplay things Russia does. Jorch like always lives down to his low expectations. Pretty much in agreement, every questions is a agreeing leading question, nothing challenging, no filling in the blanks when the guest is spinning. He does this annoying thing when he gives a statement in a form of a questions. For example

GN: I think there is nothing wrong in talking to other countries, we should do that! Don't you think? (somehow that's a question)
Guest: *repeats exactly what Noory just stated*
(The guest and Noory both leave out the very important detail that these guys didn't disclose that they talk to them and in some cases when asked, lied about it. You can have whatever opinion  you want, but as a host at least give the full picture of the topic)

I listened to just a bit but every questions was the  same formula, leading questions to get the guest to agree with him and then somehow act like he (Noory)is unbiased and of course leaving out basic details. Another example was Jorch saying "We should be focusing on threats like N.Korea & middle east (again not really a question) Guest says "This is all build by Democrats and the media" (which again, ignores basic known fact that that multiple govt agencies have been looking into Russia involvement not just hear but abroad)

I actually didn't mind so much the guest have a pro Russian view, but wow can the host do some homework and actually challenge a tiny bit, or at least give the full picture of what is being investigated. Somebody on twitter brought a funny point, Noory seems all in with the dangers of N.Korea, but thinks the Russia stuff is all an exaggeration, yet it pretty much comes from the same intel groups. Why would he buy so much on one side but not the other?

I don't hate Norry. I find it hard to hate people, especially if I never known them or they never did anything personally to me or someone I know. But I don't like him. But, like you, he has grown on me by one aspect: the comedy, inadvertent. His bumbling, mispronunciations, his constant retellings of personal stories (that are lame and almost like he has no new experiences,) and- my personal favorite- when he gets serious, real guests with real subjects and they are taken aback by a Norry question or comment. Such as after they just explained, in detail, some point and Norry comes back with a general 3x4 card question on that point- just explained and answered. And there is a silence, an eeerm, or, better, "as I just said George." THEN they get to the callers and the real scientist or expert is confronted with a cat-lady with some question about Revelations or some redneck about the NWO and CERN. And again, guest, fumbling and many times shocked and you can almost hear them shaking their head and despair for the caller and/or public. Thinking: "is this what the country is really like?" "Have I been in academia or sheltered lifestyle too long?" "How did my agent get me on with this dolt and this audience?" and so on.

What I don't like is how he insults his callers, bilks with his medical advice and products, and exploits the most vulnerable in our country: often shut-ins, elderly, poor or fixed income, or just plain crazy.

ps: he also cannot make a guest or subject that, if you suspend some belief, should be spooky, creepy, or at least interesting be that way. Art, even Clyde, can get a guest and callers with good stories and even if you don't believe can still be sort of scary or creepy. Norry can have the best guest or subject, or caller, and wreck the mood, ruin the story, try to take attention away to himself, and generally screw it up. He strikes out on a pitch that was an intentional walk even.

If he does this and it's captured on video on B-yawn Bleef, it would be priceless.

I blame the guest for thinking a long-time national host is going to be at a certain level of ability, and doesn't at least listen to a little of the show before agreeing to be on.

Yep.  All of THIS.

Add to it Noory's habit of being smug and patronizing.
