While attempting to listen to C2C, my mind began to wander. Big surprise there, eh? Anyway, I was sidetracked by a movie that I get a big kick out of, Best in Show. While watching, it occured to me, if they ever made a movie about C2C AM, and they had to cast someone to play Norry, I have the perfect personality for the part. Fred Willard. He played a commentator during the "dogshow" and his remarks and stoopid questions seemed to mirror someone we all know and are disgusted by.
IM serious, if you've ever seen this flick you'll know what I'm babbling about. Slap a cheesy mustache on his upper lip, spray some black hair goop on his melon, and turn him loose. Viola'! Instant Norry! Let me make it clear. I'm not zinging Willard. I'm suggesting a part he could run with. He has played less than upright characters for most of his career, right up to, and including, a bust for allegedly performing a lewd act in a porno theater. This guy was born to play noory! Ahh...just a thought. Thanks for playing along.

I can see this.  Fred Willard, as he portrayed the character in Best of Show, would be the perfect Noory -- zero attention span, nonsensical, and completely oblivious to all his shortcomings.

GN, who never has an opinion on jack squat, certainly seemed incensed by the whole NSA thing. What's up with dat?

Maybe he's concerned it will leak out what he's up to on those Friday nights/early Saturday mornings when he skips out early and leaves his listeners with old show replays and UFO Phil.   ;D

How many people here really give a flying fuck if the NSA is monitoring their online activity?  I can only imagine how interesting it is for the poor schmucks that may actually have to go through all of the "flagged" material...

"hmmmmmm this Ziznak character seems to be sending coded messages of secret information in his cat pictures... diabolical!"

"He's been talking to one of his operatives about "leveling" (bombing) his characters (civilians)... he's also planning to "blow up the toilet bowl" as well.... what could "toilet bowl" be code for? "

In my day to day... I don't give much thought to it, actually. But when I start to think about it, I do get a bit of WTF. I am not a person that usually brings up the slippery slope argument, but in this case, I do ponder.

I have heard the statement "if you aren't doing anything wrong" several times since the patriot act became law. I have lived long enough to know what isn't wrong today may well be wrong tomorrow.

As a bibliophile who has read more than his fair share of books that could easily arouse the attention of a nosy Fed, the very idea of what I checked out of the library being scrutinized irks me to no end. And holy fuck I'm a paranoiac to begin with.

From what I've read in the past month I'm a potential mass murdering, hostage taking Jewish Chinese Communist Nazi Gay Muslim Racist Liberal Republican LBJ supporter,Lutheran Temple of Set and Anglophilic IRA member interested in reviving Odinism, the Roman Republic and Ottoman Empire who listens to Emerson Lake and Palmer.

Its a Slippery Slope and its not one you want to go down.  If the Feds think its OK to be doing shit like this ( Which it is not ) what are they going to do next?   And after that?

I definitely give a flying fuck.  I don't have anything to hide, but that's not the point.  I don't believe any government, Republican or Democrat, needs to have carte blanche to go after the private information of its citizens.  If someone is suspected of a crime, that's one thing, but to scoop up everything from everyone is unwarranted.

Are we free or should we have overlords monitoring us?

Histronic Fop

At this point, I don't think the government can be trusted with a single fucking thing. Anyway, this administration has already been given its fair share of breaks -- it's time for this merry band to become accountable for their actions.

Absolutely. None.Of.Their.Business. Look I was a federal prosecutor for 25 years, and I would never submit to a "consent search" of my house or vehicle - just because it's my right. "Well, you don't have anything to hide do you? So you won't mind if we search your vehicle then, right?" Doesn't matter that I don't have anything to hide, I don't want to be bullied into having police paw my stuff. Rest assured, if you do refuse them, many will find a way to screw with you, like "finding" something to justify calling a drug dog which will take a couple of hours, or otherwise making you pay for defying their authoritah.

i guess having the government monitor our online activities IS worse than say maybe... google? or is that like the same thing?

Google does not have the power of government to garnish our pay via the IRS, they don't have the power to criminally charge my husband who is active duty Army for reading articles online that are negatively portraying this current administration,  they don't have the power to raid our homes based on vague e-mails we send to each other.

That said, the line between government and private snooping is now very thin.  You have Google and other companies actively working for various political entities, and to think they will remain neutral with our information is very naive.

Don't forget!  'Ol George is "sharing" his phone number for those intimate, personal "one-on-one" calls!

"Coast Insiders, don't miss our Live Chat with George Noory, tonight at 8p PT/11p ET, where he'll share a phone number for private 1-on-1 calls later in the month. Not yet a Coast Insider?-- click here to sign up for around 15¢ a day."

It's probably 1-800-GET-IT-ON.   ;)

No, 1-800-GET-OF-GN.  They are trying to find George a lady or a tramp, depending on the caller.

New rumor, Linda Moulton Howe and Rolleye James are going to be hosting Coast effective July 1, 2013.  George is retiring.  He will now go back to Detroit and live in his mother's basement where he will listen to his Sinatra collection, take his index finger and flip his bottom lip in time to the music.
His mother is going to be his caretaker.

What, is this like Nickleback? I like George, people think he is boring probably due to there is no scandal in his life. He is without Drama, is honest and does care about more than himself. Listen during Christmas Eve and other holidays.

He has good skills in communication, meaning he is a good listener.

Let's see, half a page praising George - over 800 here and 6000 that were deleted at GLP discussing and documenting his suckage.  That ratio seems about right.

I have to disagree.  It's a fundamental issue that really gets at the foundations of what a countries America are supposed to stands for.  Personal freedoms have been steadily eroded since 9-11 and it's not good.  It used to be that you had a reasonable expectation of being able to conduct your affairs in anonymity.

Has Joorch got his mother on pretending to have written a book about the economy? Did he finally run out of guests?

I just tuned in but it kind of sounds like it.

NoMoreNoory

It's hilarious! And also possibly the worst hour of radio I've ever heard. Joorch keeps trying to tell stories and Barbara keeps talking all over him. He's getting very exasperated with her.....;)

When George has to carry the guest it is indeed bad radio.

Well, folks, that's it. Pull down the blinds and dim the lights. Flip the sign on the door of USA Inc. from Open to Closed. Joorch The Almighty Snooron declares that the 'Great American Dream' is over. Pompous, ignorant twat.
But never mind. The Dream may be over, but who cares when you can still spout drivel about the Nephilim for the next three hours?
Goodnight all

Snorry calling Snowden a hero made me about want to throw up. I'm not crazy about the NSA monitoring everything. But I found it ridiculous that Snowden acts like some huge privacy rights guy, then runs off to Hong Kong, an "autonomous region" China, the worst country in the world for privacy rights.

I usually turn C2C off when they talk about economics, as it's always negative and depressing. Not to mention only occasionally having anything to do with reality.

Alright, this guest is a typical wacked creationist 'scholar'

His arguments:

"the [mainstream] concept of a super advanced race from somewhere in the universe seeing life is circular reasoning"

yes it is.  It's also not mainstream reasoning so please don't use it to support your beliefs.

"In the present age, a hummingbird can't give birth to a humpback whale."

give me a break.

What kind of person goes by the name "L.A." anyway?

George gave me a laugh in the first hour of tonight's show when he thought the guest was saying that he had drama in his home when in fact she was talking about in a general sense.  "Oh there's no drama in my house." was his reply with an awkward chuckle.

What a moron.

I think that we might disagree on this topic in a few ways.  However, your argument describes a hero.  He is willing to put his own comfort and his future on the line to expose something he thinks is important for people to know.  If he ran off to live in a secure castle with servants and given millions for his actions it would be quite the oposite.  As it stands, a fellow who is 30 years old will suffer uncertainty and persecution from the US government the rest of his life for his actions that did not benefit him directly (that I can see.)

I would not necessarily call him a hero and have some reservations about what he did and exposed (rumour has it that there is more on the way.)  I also know full well that the US government monitors everything they can get their hands on.  I figure that if I ever buy a new television with the built in camera and microphone that it will finally complete the most far-fetched prophesy in 1984 and the us government will have direct visual and audio into my living room.  (they are developing apps to allow you to monitor your house while you are away through the television.  You have to assume that the server will be in the US and that then NSA would want that info.)

As it stands, I know one local not for profit (yes, charity) that will not deal with any provider that is not Canadian based because they do not want even a database of volunteers to land in the lap of the US government. It has to make you wonder where we are heading.  A hero or not, it is good that people are becoming aware of the actions that their government is taking.
