Great moments in George Noory's life:
"This is one of my favorite memories. Here I am being born, emerging into the bright light of the delivery room..."

George Noory you son of a bitch. Art Bell would have continuos unscreened open lines if our embassies were being burned to the ground and our ambassadors were being sodomized and murdered when he did this show. Breaking news means shit happening while you are on the air you bastard. I thought you were some kind of NEWSMAN???

An old favorite:

Does that shroud of urine clip still exist or has it been pulled? I couldn't find it on youtube despite searching

George's true calling.  (George, moonlighting Saturday nights)

Carmelo - Maestro pizzaiolo di Soverato - 1p
whats that george getting tommys dinner ready?

NoMoreNoory

Joyful start to tonight's show. Noory introduces his guest, Oz hypnotherapist.
Noory: Although you're in Australia, Giovanni (!), let me try out a bit of my expertise in accents. I'm hearing a bit of Scottish in there, too. Am I right?
Giovanni: Nooooooo!.

Maybe restrict the 'expertise' claims to the Out Of Body Experiences and the remote viewing, eh George?

I have only been tuned in for 5 minutes. It is open lines on this Friday night, and George is spewing such nonsense, irrelevant platitudes, childish comments about the middle East, and is completely ignoring and dismissing his callers, that it blows my mind. And then this, out of nowhere:

GN: I'd be happy with another, oh, ten quality years or so of Coast to Coast.

NOOOOO!!!  :-[

Noory is cutting out early again for his Friday night show tonight.
He is going to an old replay from part of an interview with somebody about shadow people for the last half hour, so he can skip out early.
Alert his PremRat bosses, he didn't give a full 4hour live show...

A woman called during open lines last night to say that her mother had instantly developed Alzheimer’s-like symptoms after the death of an adult daughter (the caller's sister). Simple George told her to give the mother turmeric. Christ, this asshole sucks.

I hope they do the same thing to Noory's big sponsor 'Carnivora' - those annoying commercials he does for that run nearly every night even on nights he isn't hosting...  :P

Those are the worst commercials, with both Noory and the Carnivora dude reading from a hokey script.  It sounds like a badly written Saturday Night Live parody.  It almost makes you want to go OD on turmeric.  ;)

What I find funny and sad about those commercials is it illustrates George's exact interview formula. Sure they're a little less staged in real time but the format is exactly the same: George asks a question, George gets an answer, George asks a question, George gets an answer on and on. Zero follow up and zero conversation. It's like he's reading a script or as we suspect reading of 3x5 cards.

Noory demonstrates his "expertise," once again.  Someone should call in and ask about him demonstrating his expertise in mine-sweeping.

George Noory lies constantly! This is a man who still brought on fraudulent Sean David Morton. Some fake bug spray isn't going to stop him.

morton is making appearances on the show again?

SDM hasn't been on c2c for years, but I did see he appeared on some of the new episodes of 'Ancient Aliens' on the History2 channel recently, so he has resurfaced it seems.

I am so happy that somebody else caught that.  I was so impressed that Dr. G. managed to diagnose and prescribe a treatment in 30 short seconds.  It seems that Obamacare would pose no problem or controversy if only they were to hire a few competent and efficient physicians like good ol George.

Am I the only one who some evenings feels a little sorry for George?  I do not care for him nor his style, but some days I feel a little pity.  Listening in tonight I realize that he was obviously tuned into Knapp yesterday and is making an honest attempt to ask the same questions and go in the same direction as Knapp (I keep hearing questions about surveillance, national security and a few references to intelligence.)  It is kind of sad to listen to him struggle after decades in broadcasting and he must realize that something in his style is lacking when he listens to Knapp and makes an attempt to imitate him...

stevesh

I do feel sorry for Noory, the way I would feel sorry for anyone who just doesn't 'get' what he does for a living. I think a lot of the George Noory Sucks sentiment stems from the fact that almost anyone else who was that incompetent wouldn't still have the job.

I think Noory set a record last night for meaningless comments on the guest's observations, like 'huge', 'not at all', and 'so right'.

I haven't listened in a long time but I'd say if he's just recently started trying to do better, it's probably too little too late.  From what you posted, it just sounds like he is still refusing to put in any show prep at all other than add a few new cue cards to be read randomly.

He knows he sucks and doesn't care.  He'd rather be lazy and be known as a failure than put in effort as long as he has enough people tuning in and the paychecks keep coming.  Maybe the ratings are so bad he realized whoever has been protecting him and keeping him on can't do it much longer.

onan

I am sorry I can't punch him in the face. Yeah I am a hater.

RedMichael

I have been lurking here for a bit but registered after listening to last nights show. He was literally trying to make points to his guests that the guest made minutes earlier. He wasn't really even rewording them either.

How does this happen? Does he ignore them? Is he trying to sound smart? I get the sense that he is really insecure in regards to his guests and is always trying to prove himself. I know he is horrible at preparing for interviews but it would be better to just acknowledge he knows nothing about what is being talked about then what he is doing. I couldn't fault a guy for that and the questions would be more relevant.

Is he close to retiring?

ziznak

I wish... I haven't heard last night's show yet but I was listening to an older show about the gospel of judas.  Very interesting guest and pretty good show overall BUT George was being George.  At one point he wasted every body's time by making sure that it was specified that the story of Adam and Eve was clearly set within the BC time frame.

Another old show I listened to concerned ancient Egypt... apparently to George the only and greatest Era for Egypt involved Anthony and Cleopatra.  Oh and she used an "ASP" (which George pointed out was a snake) to kill herself.

sNoory seems to be like a lot of people I met while in broadcasting - they sought, and took on, jobs for which they had no talent. And if the person was a favorite of the GM, he, or more often, she stayed in the job.  I produced for a number of anchors and had to write every word that came out of their mouths.  I dared them to think, and they knew they would face my considerable wrath if they changed a word.  Why would I do this?
Because I had to make a good resume tape in order to get a job at a better station.

sNoory seems like someone who would have made a good news director at the right station.  Instead, he's showing his lack of talent on-air.  And, yes, his asking the guests a question that they answered only minutes before is one great sign that sNoory sucks.

You're right.  And he did exactly the same thing the Monday night after Knapp's first "mysterious disappearances" show.  He fumbled through a similar topic, and of course, made a shit show out of it.

Last night, during the first hour, the movie "It's a Wonderful Life" came up when banks were being discussed.  Of course, Noory couldn't resist another opportunity to make a fool of himself.  He announced he used to do a good impersonation of Jimmy Stewart and launched into a predictably lousy take of Jimmy.  The good news is that it was so bad and inappropriate, I think even Noory recognized it.  George, I don't think you EVER did a good impersonation of anybody, unless it was one of the stars from "Dumb and Dumber."

Sorry to break the thread a tad, but I need to ask UFO Fill if he could give us a primer on the ways "the talent" is paid in broadcasting jobs. The question arose in the thread titled "The Night Hog and the response to resignation" http://coastgab.com/index.php/topic,3375.msg79999.html#msg79999

Thanks. We now return to your regularly scheduled posting.

Noory sucks.

You are reading my mind.....absolutely.....Noory knows who the PRO is......and he attempting to emulate Knapp's interviewing skills.  Sadly, he is not up to the job.  Some of Knapp's skills are because of HARD WORK and preparing thoroughly for each guest, some are because he was born inquisitive and intelligent, and finally, Knapp learned how to interview with skill and insight because he SHUT UP AND LISTENED throughout the years and didn't ask questions from cue cards.
