President Donald J. Trump

It's an interesting juxtaposition.  On the one hand, we have anonymous intelligence sources leaking contacts between Trump's campaign and Russians and, without a single detail of collusion, we are supposed to conclude Trump is compromised and responsible.  On the other, we have anonymous intelligence sources leaking details of a FISA warrant supposedly procured by the Obama administration against a political opponent.  People can't figure out whether to cite the warrant as evidence of guilt â€" that's highly problematic, for obvious reasons â€" or dismiss it altogether, but if, as it seems, the warrant produced nothing, it looks really bad.

The stakes are high in both cases but, even if all of it is true, Trump can always disavow knowledge and sacrifice minor players in what was a disorganized, haphazard campaign, while Obama has to bear executive responsibility whether he ordered it or not.

I thought at first it was Trump going off half-cocked again but, upon reflection, it looks like a fair play â€" and I wanted an excuse to trot out my new em dashes.  Can't get enough of these beauties â€" â€" â€" | whoops

Everything else was meaningless blather, as usual but then you have the audacity to end with even MORE faggotry? Have you no shame, sir? Next thing I know you'll be writing "poems" again.  ::)

If you read the "meaningless blather" you would find that he believes that Obama may take the fall â€" and that Trump may walk away unscathed.  It was not only fair â€" but it appeared balanced.

I doubt many will read it, here's a lawyer's view of the trouble Obama and his minions MAY by in with Obamagate.

Thank you for posting this, Juan. The administration and the Republicans better set aside any disagreements and get serious about this. I've never seen a president leave office and behave this way- it has a sinister feel to it like something out of a political novel.

They've come a long way since they went after Newt Gingrich.

Juan- this was a nice break from the usual Lord of the Flies style posting where they hunt "The Beast" daily.  ;)

Umm...yeah...I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you there. As usual, he sits on a fence and couches himself in an analysis that essentially says nothing except: Obama probably good; Trump probably bad...but who really knows?! DURK!  ;D

He will be a lot happier being in prison around his peoples.

Yes, he can then go full Muslim there.

So all this talk about Obama and prison raises an interesting question: would the secret service still protect him there?

I think that the Rep. Congress can "adjust" that privilege. Maybe he'll be in solitary in Super Max..

Now I feel rich â€" having gained the ability to express myself fully.

Certainly somebody will feel it necessary to type the phrase "praise K_Dubb" for this great gift to Bellgabbers.  Perhaps even just put a "â€"" as a top right quote?

I thought that this article might be of interest to people on both sides of the issues. Most of us have had to change course at different times in our lives and honest introspection is a benefit to us all. Or not- up to you.

American Thinker: Top Ten Reasons I Am No Longer A Leftist

Quote
Our friends at americanthinker.com have a fantastic column by Dr. Danusha V. Goska. She was a life-long leftist and recently wrote that she has abandoned that philosophy. Here, she gives her top ten reasons. It’s long, but I highly recommend it.

http://downtrend.com/robertgehl/american-thinker-top-ten-reasons-i-am-no-longer-a-leftist

Hi Pye. Took me a while to have the time to read this article and give it thoughtful consideration. Because the article is rather long and mv would spank I will address each of the 10 points. Then we can address each point by point if you want.

AMERICAN THINKER: TOP TEN REASONS I AM NO LONGER A LEFTIST
JULY 20, 2014| BY ROBERT GEHL
I have lots of politically progressive and moderate friends and quite a few conservative ones. Even a libertarian. Bless her heart. I have never heard any of them use the term "leftist". And certainly none of my progressive friends and acquaintances have described themselves that way. So I'm already a little skeptical. But moving on ...

...Reading this anecdote, I felt that I was confronting the signature essence of my social life among leftists. We rushed to cast everyone in one of three roles: victim, victimizer, or champion of the oppressed.Reading this anecdote, I felt that I was confronting the signature essence of my social life among leftists. We rushed to cast everyone in one of three roles: victim, victimizer, or champion of the oppressed. ...
Certainly a broad generalization of "my people". The way I view this "Huffiness" is perhaps many show a great concern for people less fortunate than us. Who may need extra support or a helping hand. Kind of a love they neighbor idea. We would like all people to have the same opportunities afforded to the more privileged among us. Is this "Huffy"?

9) Selective Outrage
Op-ed pieces, Jon Stewart’s “Daily Show,” Twitter, Facebook, and Amazon posts erupted in a feeding frenzy ... the Republican Party for their “war on women.” ... protest against Western, heterosexual men. It’s an “I hate” phenomenon, rather than an “I love” phenomenon.
Seems this is the all feminists are bull dykes meme. My people are pro equal pay for equal work, pro-choice and protection under the law from discrimination based on gender and anti violence against women. Personally there are a lot of men I like. And some I don't

8.) It’s the thought that counts
Leftists Love Humanity but Hate People.” ... Hillary started a rape crisis hotline but defended a rapist when she was an attorney - and chuckled
The law provides everyone deserves a vigorous defense. Chuckling optional

7) Leftists hate my people.
And rightists don't hate anybody.

You get the gist of this article. All the generalized right wing bias against anyone who doesn't think like them with the same tired excuses for right wing prejudices.  Sorry, Pye. I did read the whole article looking for some worthwhile facts, evidence, truth but nothing. I don't feel the need to give anymore serious consideration. Am I being "Huffy?"

Hippies need to keep their asses out of the road! I am going to build a stinger hoop and turn my winch bumper into an assault bumper to channel hippies under my tires and off of my hood if i ever have to run them over. Then i will turn my stereo up to drown out their screams as my BFG's are breaking bones and crushing skulls as i roll over them.

On a hunch, I tried concatenating several â€"â€" and was disappointed there was still a teeny space.  But, consulting an old edition of This Side of Paradise at hand, that seems to have been the practice â€" we are in business!

Though I note â€" hesitantly â€" that they often appear in thorny nests in the more-erotic bits, so it's important not to overuse them, lest one be â€"â€" misunderstood.

Edit:  That edition does not surround them with spacesâ€"â€"I shall adjust my practice. However, it also spaces ellipses . . .

Address each point? Why? People either fully or partially agree or disagree with Dr. Goska's article. I don't feel that any of us need permission to do so.

You are certain that only conservatives use the term, "leftist"? I know some classic liberals who use way stronger terms than that when referring to the 'progressives'.

Why are you skeptical? Do you doubt her credentials and her personal history and experiences?

Sounds like you do a great deal of charitable work- I'd like to hear more.

Maybe your objection to the word "huffy" is more a matter of context. I understood what she was describing because I have had similar experiences with people from both sides. Equally inappropriate behaviour and attitude and funny;D

The article wasn't about ''facts, evidence, or truth''.  It was about one person's thoughts and personal experiences.  It certainly rang true with me, and I've lived in Berkeley (same as her) a couple different times, and have lived in nearby communities the rest of my adult life.

''Right-wingers'' as a group just are not full of the hate, bile, and self righteous anywhere near as much as these people are.

She meant the Leftist elitist snobs - who are the opinion makers of the group - look down with scorn on the working class people they pretend to represent.  Bernie Sanders said the same thing.

Guess I misunderstood your intention. You had previously mentioned giving up having a serious discussion in this thread. Then made a comment about no one from the other side of the political fence would bother to read it. So I replied thinking you considered the article more than a puff piece and it might be enlightening. A chance for discourse. Obviously I was wrong

Yes I do a lot of charitable work but I believe it is better to do those things quietly without bringing attention to my "good deeds"
