Three courts on Friday struck down parts of controversial voter ID requirements put in place by Republicans, with one of those courts citing “clear discriminatory intent” by lawmakers in North Carolina to shrink the franchise for politically powerful US minorities.

Which leads to claims like this... I have no way to prove whether or not this poll is valid.

The point is that the process has a systemic flaw. There are no checks and balances to make sure that only citizens register to vote.

This is a case where the overreach of the federal government conflicts with the states rights.

The states are tasked with maintaining their electorate. The federal government makes the states (except two) use the federal form. Any action by a state to address the systemic flaws in the process are battled in federal court by the DoJ.

I am not in favor of a national id. I do believe that individual states should be aboe to pass laws requiring proof of citizenship to be able to register to vote.
