Inevitable, and a little disappointing.  One of the right's biggest weaknesses is their willingness to make these sacrifices for a small point of honor, like lying to the veep, when a Clintonesque bit of linguistic gymnastics would smooth that over.  I really thought Trump's scandal-proofing would protect him and they'd just breeze on like so many other times.

_Dubb,  I was thinking similarly.  What would Clinton have done?  Either one of them?  Since both Clintons are lying whores.

Roll over with a desultory fart and go back to sleeping comfortably.  No late-night ethical crises for them.  But Pence's sense of integrity was abused.  Moral superiority is a barbaric goddess, her altar drenched in gore.

Flynn should not have resigned.
Lying to, missleading, VP Pence about the calls or their content, and then Pence having to repeat those lies on the Sunday Morning shows was the most imediate problem (offence) -- and reason enough in itself to be fired or resign (I'm seeing said by numerous commentators.)

I nominate both of those for upper right hand corner status!

Now that Flynn has resigned, Hillary Clinton automatically becomes president. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

I'm not a blind Trump supporter. I hope he tightens his shit up. The media is going to come at him harder now.
Meh.  Just more fake news from fake news outlets... Hey- look!  A  squirrel!

Now you are going to lower your standards to "what would Clinton have done?"  You are going to suggest that a man who served with honour his entire career (no, I'm not being sarcastic) should do what a Clinton would to save face?

He acted like a man and made the right choice.

As if no one saw that coming. He's just the first, there will be others. I especially don't understand why on earth these retired guys would want to leave their cushy leisure lives to work for a high-maintenance narcissist. Now he can go right back to making lucrative deals with Russia as a private citizen. Maybe his boss will follow suit.

Rob Reiner (the comedian and political observer apparently) tweeted;

I can admit it; Trump haters scored points with Flynn's resignation. However, Trump is a proven counter puncher. We'll see.

My guess is Flynn resigned to save face for the administration. Sacrifice. He is a solider after all. I'd like to see evidence that he was being "blackmailed" by Russian contacts. Or "inadvertently withheld information" from the VP. Whatever that means?

I'm not a blind Trump supporter. I hope he tightens his shit up. The media is going to come at him harder now.

First off, as National Security Advisor to the incoming administration, it doesn't seem to me like he did anything wrong.  Putin is a war criminal, but he also happens to be the Russian leader and we should be working together on issues of mutual interest - which means getting off to a good start if possible.

But compare and contrast the actions taken by corrupt Democrat administrations supported by the corrupt Media, vs the actions taken by everyone else when there is a hint of scandal.

Holder and the gun running to Mexican cartels comes to mind, or Loretta Lynches' ''meeting'' with Bill Clinton on the tarmac, but there are any number of other incidents one could point to in the Carter and Obama regimes alone.

Like you take our word about America?  Hmmm.  Let me think on that.

And for the record, I've been to Europe numerous times.  but I don't claim to be expert on Eurupe that you and Pud claim to be on America.

Well, to be fair we Americans have 200 other countries out there and can't pay attention to the minutia of all of them, while all of them are obsessed with us.

Neville Chamberlain couldn't have said it better.

"My good friends, for the second time in our history, a British Prime Minister has returned from Germany bringing peace with honor. I believe it is peace for our time... Go home and get a nice quiet sleep, roll over with a desultory fart and go back to sleeping comfortably."

You're right. Some war criminals are worse than others. It's just a matter of body count.

Well, Trump could go the route of Obama - projecting weakness throughout the world and leaving every door open to our enemies, including Putin.

Leaving a void for ISIS to fill in Iraq and Syria, then inviting the Russians in.  Agreeing to a reckless illegal treaty with Iran, where the West gets nothing and the world is considerably less safe, while Iran gets a couple planeloads of cash, the green light to ramp up their nuclear weapons and ICBM programs, and sanctions lifted with Russia free to sell them an anti-aircraft system among other weapons.  Allowing his Secretary of State to keep an illegal unsecure email server in her barn where our classified information could be hacked.

Of course he made up for all that with a couple sanctimonious speeches, and closing one of Putin's safe houses.

We have some important issues in common with the Russians, and we need to be able to work with them.  Nuclear proliferation.  Chemical weapons.  Terrorism.  Countering China.  Destroying ISIS.  And any number of others.

Sometimes showing a little friendliness and respect gets better results than weakness, blather, and incompetence.

Rinse and repeat, jeez, don't you go on?

If Flynn is lying about what he's up to behind people's backs then,  yeah, he's got to go. If you can't see that then you have no credibility whatsover, lost inside your talk radio bubble.

Really?  Or does it just look like weakness when they take what you give them and then ignore you.

I'm sure you have dozens of examples to back up this claim.

...Such a payment might violate the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution, which prohibits former military officers from receiving money from a foreign government without consent from Congress. The defense officials said there was no record that Mr. Flynn, a retired three-star Army general, filed the required paperwork for the trip.

I guess paper work is for little people?

Follow the money...
