I don't think I have ever seen that flag before, that the US Public Health Service has the Caduceus (or rod of Asclepius) crossed over a Fouled Anchor on a field d'Or as a study of heraldry;  I guess the staff over the fouled anchor is a good sign, but Nautical Shore about the presence of the Fouled Anchor in the first place; it seems like a bad thing...

Blue uniforms, now I have had trouble with the Red/Blue para-dig'em shift in politics.  This network television shift in colors occurred,  I think, in the (50s/60s/70s?) due to a certain broadcast networks choice to represent the Dems as "blue" and Reps as "red", in opposition to what the networks were doing in the past.  Allegedly for the innocent purpose of providing a contrast so that they would be "unique" or something.  Apparently, it wasn't a really "big deal" until the advent of color television, and even then did not become a unified broadcast "standard" until color televisions were ubiquitous.

I always found this strange growing up in the eighties, the "Red Scare" at the time was the USSR nuking the US, hence SDI &c.  Why then was the party that was most pacifistic in regards to the USSR given the "blue" association, and the party most war-hawkish towards the USSR given the "red" association? 

I think it really jumped to my attention in college when a Democrat activist-type that I frequently had lunch with showed me a color-coded map by voting district of the last Presidential election (1992) by county that showed a vast sea of rural-Red with small dots of urban/coastal-Blue.  He wanted my opinion of it, I said he had gotten the colors backwards, the Democrats were the Commies by any stretch of the imagination, not the Republicans.  I don't think that was the response he was looking for, and we had quite a lively conversation as I proceeded to devastate him on the chess-board (we played chess at lunch)...

This has always bothered me, and I think it is some sort of "Long March Commie Plot" this reversal of the natural order of political color schemes.  Blue has always been my favorite color too, (matches my beautiful eyes) and to have the Communists appropriate that color for their mind-slavery has always disturbed me...

To go back further in thyme on this red/blue thing;  Revolutionary era US=blue uniforms - Them(Britian)=red uniforms.
