Amy On The Radio

( Amy )

I'm still alive, but recovering.

Had a trip to the neurologist's today. She wanted me to take the rest of the night off--- doctor's orders.
Still quite groggy at the moment from the migraine cocktail she gave me.

This rarely happens but when it does, it's pretty awful. It affects my eyesight, my hearing and my speech centers.
By yesterday evening I couldn't form coherent words verbally.

It was kind of like this lady.

Turns out she had a migraine too.

I'm at the end of this migraine. I can speak, see and hear okay, but trying to take it easy so I don't rebound.

Coincidentally, Jamie had something come up this evening as well and would have only made it for the third hour.

Tomorrow will definitely be LIVE.

Deep Talk will broadcast Haunted Skeptic episode #1- Sightings tonight.

See you all tomorrow.

Holy shit, Amy. Please don't rush back to the mic to please the listeners. Take as much time as you need without feeling guilty.

I remember the "complex migraine" lady. It gave me a new appreciation for the affliction, and I think that might have been what happened to Ian Punnett that one time.

Jesus, scary stuff. I had a similar crazy migrane one time very close to that as well. Co-workers knew something was up, couldn't really talk. Couldn't read for a few moments either and was unsettling. Thought it was a stroke but doctor ruled it out. Get well soon!

Let's start a migraine thread. I could tell you stories that would make your head spin and your eyes bulge out of their sockets...kinda like a migraine does

73s

Also, I just happen to be reading "The Art of Talk" at the moment...Art says that he would have panic attacks during almost every show. I wonder if the stress got to you as well?

I remember seeing that live when it happened, every one assumed she was having an on air stroke.

This has happened to a lot of people while on the air. It's a conspiratorial topic with lots of videos. It's creepy.

I can't remember what poster it was but he said his friend called into MitD and said "you suck", then the next day a female called his work and asked who was working at that time. Then something happened where he messed something up with the computers and he got fired. I know that's really vague but I suppose someone could do a search in this forum. Regardless if any of it is true its a pretty shitty way of trying to be a radio star.

Also, having a few sick days does not make Amy a bad radio host. It doesn't work like that.

I'm pretty sure I read it. I want to say it was Whoozit that posted it but I am probably mistaken.

I had a one last Thursday/Friday. It started Thursday night and lasted all Friday. I wonder if there's some sort of environmental factor or something in common? It would be interesting to know if there's any sort of group phenomenon with migraine sufferers, i.e., Do sufferers tend to get them at the same or similar times? I'll have to look into it. It's a truly horrible experience. I tend to get them 3 or 4 times a year and every time it's a whole day shot and then a day or two of recovery after. When I was coming out of it this time last Saturday I felt like I'd been on a week long bender or something. Anyway, hang tough, Amy. I hope you're feeling better. I'm actually kinda surprised that you're a real person. When you did the news on MITD I would listen very intently and I had convinced myself that you were just a sophisticated text to speech software. There's just something about the cadence of your speech that sounds uncannily like that. Now that I know you're real I'll tune in to check out your next show. Be well.

If you look very closely, you'll see the cadaver bone used to fuse the plate. (j/k)

Nah. I do wish I knew more about the donor though.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with me. My neurologist tends to agree that she seems to see more walk-in patients during massive weather changes. Mine hit the day we were having tornadoes again to our south. I was sitting in the studio writing when all of a sudden it started to come on. I could feel the pressure in my ears and head. My neck began to scream. Almost minute later, we had a short hail storm. After it passed, it left humid weather. This is the first cooler day since the storms and I'm feeling much better (but still in that sort of post-migraine trauma state...feels like recovering from a massive head injury).

For me they're always worse during this time of year when severe weather is happening. Either that or transitioning from summerlike-Fall to freezing temps.

As for text-to-speech, doesn't Howard Hughes sound more text-to-speechy? I mean, I've long thought he was really Peter Serafinowicz (the Brit that does all of the voiceovers, impressions, and convincing disguises). If you don't know Peter Serafinowicz, look him up. I've probably asked people a dozen times if he's a real person or just another of Peter's characters. If he really is a real person and NOT Peter Serafinowicz, color me surprised.

Glad to hear you're feeling better Amy.

My former research advisor in college used to get migraines every summer like clockwork. He isn't sure why.  He takes some type of prescription meds to help with it (can't recall what now).

THIS EVENING... I'm interviewing Richard David Smith III (RDS3) about his insane family road trip from hell, travelling coast to coast.

It involves Vegas, crime scenes, dodging bullets, near death experiences, and certain high strangeness. At one point, he was even in a coma.
