I'm not sure if this would solve it but some DI boxes have a ground lift switch on it. Maybe if you run your incoming signal through one you get rid of it.

Yeah I tried to troubleshoot it with him before the show.

No idea what it is. He could be using a USB headset.

No worries (Amy), I doubt people can hear it on a tablet etc. I have major speakers on my PC. I LOVE me some great sound!!!

If he's talking to you through a smartphone that he's physically holding that could be it too.
