What year for music would you time-travel back to?

I say 1975.  The Stones, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who, Steely Dan, Yes ... all were friggin' great right then.  I'd go back and see a different show every nite for the whole year.  (But I might choose '74 since Dylan had his comeback tour that year.)

That's a hard choice, but I'm thinking 1970 for the Allman Brothers Fillmore East shows, the Isle of Wight Festival, and The Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour.

I would go back to the 70's which seems to have had the best bands and music. Would have been cool to experience disco first hand at Studio 54.

I went to some amazing small venue places in Chicago between about 1969 and 1972. I was pretty young then though and didn't really appreciate what I was hearing.

CTA and Styx - saw them multiple times.

Id go several 100 years back for spectacles like Handel's Water music on the Thames, or other such things. See Bach play organ in some church, Mozart to some king, first run operas at La Scala etc

If I could I'd stay on the whole trip again up until about 1982 and then I'd get off the ride. Oh well, the movie Love & Mercy was the next best thing

It's too bad the generally accepted rules of time travel don't allow killing him, but a person might be able to get away with getting him a beer and hacking a loogie into it, or accidentally on purpose kicking him in the nuts in the tangled confusion of a drug fueled orgy without changing the future too much.

I saw them in Montreal right after that album came out. Aerosmith was the opening act. I was amazed that Boston sounded as good as they did live. That album had a reputation for a lot of studio mixing.

They rocked.

A reasonable choice Av.  I just noticed that Steely Dan's Royal Scam album came out that year.  I mean, it had "The Fez" on it - can't argue with that.

It was a lot of studio wizardry. Fortunately, the wizard was also the lead guitarist and he figured out spells for transmuting that studio magic into a live setting.
