When I heard her she said that right after her “attacker” left the station, someone showed up at Art’s and was banging on his door and when she described him to Art they agreed it was the same person.

Confirmed. Same dude.

Actually stalkers do bang on peoples' doors, and a lot more.

Being obsessed with celebrities creates some very odd and self-destructive behaviors....

I don't know if this was ever posted here.

Art's place looks much bigger in this video compared to photos that have been shown.

^^ THIS

Good Dave...just be YOU and keep doing what you are doing.

It seems that some of the "vaguely lovable's" here are caught in a time warp of what Art Bell brought to the airwaves when he was on top of his game/genre in the early '90's when his topic was "fringe" and no one else was doing what he did.

There was tremendous magic in that. Art essentially married radio to early technology/internet and changed the landscape of both interactive radio. That said, that was then and we are here now.

Art IMHO never held the same caliber of radio and somehow as far as I can remember it started somewhere around 1998 with his interview with David Icke. Fast forwarding, he seemed to become more impatient with many things, including his show...perhaps his personal issues and then at some point around 911 decided to call many of his loyal listeners "wing nuts". Even one of his anchor "take a ride" guests/friends John Lear took great exception to that.

Then came the "quittings", the teases...the "my bad back" when he wouldn't do a show, however he was on ham radio all night.

SO, without me writing a novel here, no one will ever be Art Bell as he was in his prime. IMHO that lasted from about 1994 - 1998/9 give or take. It was all down hill from there in varied aspects.

Folks seem to want to remember just the good stuff...and not all the not so good.

Be yourself...make this show what you want it to be and forget about those who seem to want you to be the next Art Bell.

Art left a great and sometimes not so great legacy in this genre, however today there are more than a plethora of programs, radio, TV that are covering these topics. The playing field is not the same as it was in the early good days of Art Bell.

Lastly, loving your show to date.

Keep it on relative to where and how you want to take it....what the future you see....and just be YOU.

Thank you for bringing some magic and electricity back to the airwaves at night and to those who catch up during the day :)

Well-said! Mega-Roswells!  ;D  We can still use that, can't we? ??? ;D

Anybody remember Fritz from Las Angelas?  He was a frequent caller in teh early 90s. What happened to him?

Dave: Yes, keep being you. You're doing great. The people that think you are 'plain' have issues.

By the way, where can I get one of those "Mrs. Winnie" bumper stickers?  :)

Interesting to read what people want or expect from a show or it's host.

If you only knew how may emails and comments I get about,
" Just get to the guest, nobody tunes in to hear the host blather on or try to paint a mental picture for an audience. Let the guest shine and if they are strong they will get us to where we want to go. Just just up and guide, don't insert yourself."

For the record, it is 11pm to 2am when I broadcast, from my home studio, all alone, with one single bulb illuminating my night. So it is Midnight for me....and although I do not live in the desert our show originated and it's cornerstone station is there.

As far as the way I host, I try to show respect for the topics and guests. Solid guests are often retisent to do shows like ours for fear of being ridiculed, treated tongue in cheek like most main stream media.

To let ones Hair Down, one must have hair. Lol

But in all seriousness, when we cut loose on Darkness Radio we get compared to college radio and told to act more polished, professional.  Again, a case of half the people want it one way, half a totally different way.

It's funny as I read how much people disliked Heather or her hosting then get told that they prefer the way she hosted and her "trainwreck" approach.

The good thing is, we coexist. If you like train wreck radio you have a place to go for it, if you want some one to treat the topics with respect, prepared and able to move a 3 hour conversation without the need to cry, seek pity or blather on about cats and treat listeners with respect even when we disagree, then you have a show for that too.

I will continue to read constructive criticism and make adjustments where I can.

Thanks to all of you for your collective patience and general sense of support.

Truthfully I wish people would move past the title of the show and appreciate the program on the whole, escapism from every day topics covered every where else. It shouldn't matter if it's Midnight in the Desert or Midday at the Beach. Most people listen during the day anyway to replay.

This is the show title...it is what it is...I guess I can try to sound more insane and gravelly voiced, bit it seems all that will lead to is complaints for sounding like Art and Heather.

I wonder if this is how Schizophrenia starts? Lol

DS

thanks..i think this will be a name for my show i am never gonna do

I still say the whole stalker incident had something to do with Airyn seeing Art leaving the cuckshed that night and making it known that she's had just about enough of his "coaching" Heater! All the mystery surrounding it was Art's effort to protect Airyn.

I would really like to know if anyone here has ever corresponded with Airyn? I can't belive she's okay with all the drama Hater Wad has been causing. I wonder if anyone has even been able to express condolences to Airyn and her children.

Sound facts. HW has previously admitted to talking dirty over the phone to strangers. While it's only speculation the jury cannot rule out the possibility of consensual activity in the cuckshed.

Certainly as likely as a stalker.  Maybe more so.

I remember Fritz from Phoenix.  Yes I wonder what happened to him too.  His voice sounded pretty old then so it’s possible that he might not be with us anymore.

I wasn't sure if this was posted in the past. Thanks.

I posted it on Art's thread, too.

Art certainly had a groundskeeper/caretaker when he was in the philippines.

I'm sure he enjoyed the seclusion and privacy. The sky at night must have been beautiful.

I've heard that a lot of sex workers are lesbians on their own time. Sick of men, former abuse victims, men are pigs, etc. So here's another possible weird theory, Art was the one being cucked because there was a lesbian relationship going on. Hence the joke about the cuckshed, while he was Hamming it away all night the women were having their own fun?  He also was getting to be in pretty poor health and wifey and Heather younger and all alone in the desert? And Heather is a witch which is another lesbian possibility (don't they claim that about witches in the old days, riding brooms, all female "covens," etc?)

Rhucus

So I've been gone for about a week and come back to hundreds of new posts... can some kind soul distill the latest developments for me? I see Heater has finally changed the name...

...also, any word on Art's cause of death?

Cheers!

It wasn't verified, it all came from Art one way or the other. You have a very low standard for evidence. He didn't file a false police report either, he very carefully chose not to do something that would have legal consequences.

It's not personal because nobody knows anything about her. She deliberately acts like this woman of mystery and it annoys people.

And it's Mr Vashtar to you, you cretinous gadfly.

Ooh! He considers you a gadfly. I'd take that as a complement. Socrates was a gadfly. ;)

...And they forgot the Dark Matter fiasco too. ...

It's funny, the whole DM fiasco, as you aptly call it, caused a huge rift in the collective consciousness of BG (reference: the swirling maelstrom known as the Art Quits DM thread).  But when he came back with the MITD push everyone just willfully forgot all that and were like OMG Art's back!!!  (Except for a few notable skeptics who preached caution, correctly so in retrospect.)

Just put some insane guest on.

Also Winnie needs to make an appearance.

I think Dave could give his thoughts on the topic and give some background in why the guest was chosen for the night before he rushes to put the guest on. In short pump up the audience for the night. The fact Dave is willing to take and respond to criticism is refreshing. Neither George or Heather were willing to make changes.

It’s also nice he isn’t hiding numbers. It’s good to know shows expanding.

That damned SiriusXM streaming.  Funny how it never bothered this guy.

Looks like this thread will finally be Dave's since Heather has her new show name now.
