Karen said she saw some stalker somewhere (very unspecific) .(and if she did she could have given a description to police but of course that never happened)  and then changed the subject fast .she wouldn't say it was a made up story because she loved Art Bell...that's my take anyway..Tootsie w.. jmo

When I heard her she said that right after her “attacker” left the station, someone showed up at Art’s and was banging on his door and when she described him to Art they agreed it was the same person.

She improved for awhile. Then she plateaud. And around last September she began regressing to where I couldn’t even listen. I finally cancelled my subscription in December because it had become unlistenable. Obviously I wasn’t the only one that felt that way.

Go back to December 2015 through March of 2016. I was one of her biggest cheerleaders. I wanted her to succeed. Once the show expanded to 5 hours it was too much for her. It became cumbersome and that is when she told people they could call in more than once. When they cut it back to four hours she started hitting her stride again. But something happened last fall. She lost it on the air several times.

Once she started tweeting on the day of Art’s funeral instead of attending I lost all respect for her.

I really liked the original Heather on the first few months of the show. It is ironic that it was Art's mentoring after she moved to Pahrump (that I didn't know about at the time) coincides with the plateau and the barrage of the ignorant and off-the-wall comments nearly nightly that slowly drew me away. That is also about the time she started imitating Art's speech patterns. The UFO document (and its defense as genuine rather than a curiosity to be investigated) was the final straw. The document originally was published in the CIA FOIA electronic reading room and acknowledged as an internal joke. She was trolled, but so was half the UFO community.

I'd still listen in from time to time, but mostly for lack of anything else to listen to, or if the guest was interesting. I never hated her as a person, I've only just wanted a show where both the topics and production of the show had honesty and a certain level of genuineness.

Now there has been a long string of errors that baffle me and make for long hanging fruit and easy troll bait. I know she is smarter than what stories have played out on the surface and plans (ie Area 51), so what is it that we are missing in what really happened? I don't think we know the half of it, and probably never will. All of those routes to know the truth there are dry. I chalk most of it up to irrational things people do in survival mode and occasional panic. My guess is this has been her modus operandi for life.

At this point, I wouldn't trust LNM with any of my information and CC#, but will listen in from time to time in the rare chance that the real story gets told or an interesting guest is on.

Glad we have Dave around.

This was independent of the escapades that had been discussed here and I got the impression it was before any of the alleged gunfire incidents.  I got the impression that Art knew who it was.

Glad you are keeping us all on track TW.

Funny that, because the local police didn't find any evidence of a stalker then or since. And it's difficult to 'hassle' for making a false claim unless witnesses come forward... but clearly he was comfortable enough with a potential stalker to go outside at night to pose for a photo with his daughter.

I still say the whole stalker incident had something to do with Airyn seeing Art leaving the cuckshed that night and making it known that she's had just about enough of his "coaching" Heater! All the mystery surrounding it was Art's effort to protect Airyn.

I would really like to know if anyone here has ever corresponded with Airyn? I can't belive she's okay with all the drama Hater Wad has been causing. I wonder if anyone has even been able to express condolences to Airyn and her children.

Black-eyed children knock on your doors. I learned that listening to HLW. The stalker must have been a black-eyed child. Or a child who was punched in the face and had a black eye?

It wasn't verified, it all came from Art one way or the other.

No, it came out of Karen's mouth. I heard it.

QuoteYou have a very low standard for evidence. He didn't file a false police report either, he very carefully chose not to do something that would have legal consequences.

Wow...make my case for me why doncha?

Correct, Art apparently did not file a false police report, he seems to have filed a factual one.

QuoteIt's not personal because nobody knows anything about her. She deliberately acts like this woman of mystery and it annoys people.

Bullshit lie!

People know plenty about her private and public life since super sleuth Sean and others began outing her.

QuoteAnd it's Mr Vashtar to you, you cretinous gadfly.

Pipe down Shreddi, you posturing pillock of pusillanimous puss.

Oh get over yourself. Pull your neck in and have a cookie..here, have two.
Yes, sir. "Deputies responded and upon checking the area, Bell was found lying on the ground of his property with no injuries. He told responding deputies that he was not sure if the noise he heard was a firework or gunshot, according to the sheriff’s report.

Deputies did an extensive check of the area and didn’t locate anyone and also did not discover any evidence of gunshots."

Dave, serious question:

Did you pay licensing fees for the use of the caricatures used in your avatar? Since they are for commercial purposes, the Theme Park Caricature Artists Association (TPCAA) requires special licensing and annual permits to use their artists' work.

Actually stalkers do bang on peoples' doors, and a lot more.

Being obsessed with celebrities creates some very odd and self-destructive behaviors....

Shithead

I don't know if this was ever posted here.

Art's place looks much bigger in this video compared to photos that have been shown.

Quote from: DaveSchraderInteresting to read what people want or expect from a show or it's host.

If you only knew how may emails and comments I get about,
" Just get to the guest, nobody tunes in to hear the host blather on or try to paint a mental picture for an audience. Let the guest shine and if they are strong they will get us to where we want to go. Just just up and guide, don't insert yourself."

For the record, it is 11pm to 2am when I broadcast, from my home studio, all alone, with one single bulb illuminating my night. So it is Midnight for me....and although I do not live in the desert our show originated and it's cornerstone station is there.

As far as the way I host, I try to show respect for the topics and guests. Solid guests are often retisent to do shows like ours for fear of being ridiculed, treated tongue in cheek like most main stream media.

To let ones Hair Down, one must have hair. Lol

But in all seriousness, when we cut loose on Darkness Radio we get compared to college radio and told to act more polished, professional.  Again, a case of half the people want it one way, half a totally different way.

It's funny as I read how much people disliked Heather or her hosting then get told that they prefer the way she hosted and her "trainwreck" approach.

The good thing is, we coexist. If you like train wreck radio you have a place to go for it, if you want some one to treat the topics with respect, prepared and able to move a 3 hour conversation without the need to cry, seek pity or blather on about cats and treat listeners with respect even when we disagree, then you have a show for that too.

I will continue to read constructive criticism and make adjustments where I can.

Thanks to all of you for your collective patience and general sense of support.

Truthfully I wish people would move past the title of the show and appreciate the program on the whole, escapism from every day topics covered every where else. It shouldn't matter if it's Midnight in the Desert or Midday at the Beach. Most people listen during the day anyway to replay.

This is the show title...it is what it is...I guess I can try to sound more insane and gravelly voiced, bit it seems all that will lead to is complaints for sounding like Art and Heather.

I wonder if this is how Schizophrenia starts? Lol

No disrespect but none of that's important. Like the diet coke chick said, Just do you, whatever that is. ;)

^^ THIS

Good Dave...just be YOU and keep doing what you are doing.

It seems that some of the "vaguely lovable's" here are caught in a time warp of what Art Bell brought to the airwaves when he was on top of his game/genre in the early '90's when his topic was "fringe" and no one else was doing what he did.

There was tremendous magic in that. Art essentially married radio to early technology/internet and changed the landscape of both interactive radio. That said, that was then and we are here now.

Art IMHO never held the same caliber of radio and somehow as far as I can remember it started somewhere around 1998 with his interview with David Icke. Fast forwarding, he seemed to become more impatient with many things, including his show...perhaps his personal issues and then at some point around 911 decided to call many of his loyal listeners "wing nuts". Even one of his anchor "take a ride" guests/friends John Lear took great exception to that.

Then came the "quittenings", the teases...the "my bad back" when he wouldn't do a show, however he was on ham radio all night.

SO, without me writing a novel here, no one will ever be Art Bell as he was in his prime. IMHO that lasted from about 1994 - 1998/9 give or take. It was all down hill from there in varied aspects.

Folks seem to want to remember just the good stuff...and not all the not so good.

Be yourself...make this show what you want it to be and forget about those who seem to want you to be the next Art Bell.

Art left a great and sometimes not so great legacy in this genre, however today there are more than a plethora of programs, radio, TV that are covering these topics. The playing field is not the same as it was in the early good days of Art Bell.

Lastly, loving your show to date.

Keep it on relative to where and how you want to take it....what the future you see....and just be YOU.

Thank you for bringing some magic and electricity back to the airwaves at night and to those who catch up during the day :)
