I don't know, I think Dave's just trying to keep it light. I don't feel that he's treating the subject or guest with any disrespect. This type of discussion can become a complete downer if treated too seriously. Personally, it's more pleasant and entertaining for me if it doesn't get real heavy.

Art would have cast an urgent and dark feeling. The reason being that it may be real.

Whatever one's personal beliefs, this guy (Roger Gallagher) is a serious academic with more experience in this field than anyone I've heard since Malachi Martin.  I feel bad saying this, but it's the first time Good Dave has sounded out of his depth in an interview.  It's making me wish Art Bell had been able to interview Gallagher.  The man has a story to tell and he needs some help telling it.  I cringed when Dave came back from break doing his evil voice and cracking jokes.  Oh, and a psychiatrist would never call a patient a "whackadoodle" as Dave just did.

Nobody's perfect! And there can be only one Art.

Literally it means "Eastern Empire" but you are correct. In common usage it means East March or East Mark.

From the Romans, I think? Because the other stuff would be much later.
ps: they have fun things there. Dancing horses and everyone saying "good God" when hiking. And old people, like Norway, will beat you up mountain trails.

You convinced me that I should listen to this show tomorrow, so I will, when I have time.

Yeah, probably right. We are the judges and such.

My guess is that it will be released around Halloween.

I don't think that this calls for an "urgent and dark feeling."  I seem to recall the guest saying that it is real- but it is rare.  I kind of prefer just letting the doctor tell his story- if it is dark and urgent, a man who spent a good portion of his life looking into it should not need prodding or direction to cast it in that light.

Nah, just do what Art did. Let him speak and go with it. But the production part, go dark and urgent. That's how Art did it with Martin.

I get that, really I do.  But, personally I preferrred the way Art interviewed someone like Malachi Martin. It didn't matter that Art certainly disagreed with a lot of Martin's beliefs.  Still, he didn't let that get in the way of helping Martin tell his own story.  Clearly Dave is doing a much better job of this than someone like, say, Noory would do.

Dr. MD MD

The caller is trying to ask if they don't exist in the physical realm then how could we ever become aware of them?!

Doomed

Of course evil is real. Guys like Hitler and such, weren't even aware what they were doing was evil. It was disguised as a mission, and therefor allowed them to do the evil they did, and remain innocent, and righteous in their own head. Possession or influence?

WOTR

The guest is great.  While answering the question, the caller goes to interrupt him and his response is "let me finish," and he continues.  He is obviously used to debate and "sparring" with others.  I'm really, very impressed.  I would attend a lecture or a class given by this guest.

Of course you meant to disconnect, Dave, and I approve.  ;D

I think It came from the very early period of the Holy Roman Empire as somebody else has stated. I did some research into various German place names while I was stationed in Augsburg.  Österreich, I do believe was one first German examples of wortensalat.

Third hour is even better. This is one of those shows I don't want to end.

Exactly. I could easily sit for an hour and a half and then listen to questions... generally in academia you get one question and that's it...then the speaker will give a long form answer.
