Since Art retired for midnight in the desert, Is George Noory going to take over as the new host of Midnight in the desert??

Punnett reveals his Tinnitus was a hoax and hosts MITD.

I wonder how some people here bitching would feel if Art had been shot the other night.  They'd say oh he shot himself because he wants to quit or some other lamebrain claptrap.

Stop being selfish and taking this personally and show some concern for Art and his family.    I do think he should reconsider and take some proper security measures.  I don't like the fact that the psycho doing this is getting the satisfaction of success. I really don't have much more to say about this until Monday.

Hmmm, which shots? Which psycho? Which press report? Which police investigation?

Are you illiterate?  Its all over the threads.  Do I have to go find it for you?

Whacky Bob L, you have to understand that a great many of the people on Bellgab are delusional, and think that Art is a god that can do no wrong, and that the sun shines out of his arse. And if he farted in their face they would say, "Thank you sir, may I have another?"

As evidenced by Redacted's rather smarmy lecture last night about how people should feel about all of this, i.e. just be thankful that Art deigned to grace the world with his godlike radio genius for 5 months.,,be incredibly thankful. And don't question anything.

Yeah, last night I got the impression that if Keith's going to shut things down he's going to have to pepper spray Hoagland in order to drag his sorry ass off the air.
I will subscribe two more times to hear that.

Here's the freaking link to Nye County Sheriff's office facebook page.

Indeed so.

Deputies did a thorough check of the area and located no one and also did not locate any evidence of gunshots. Deputies maintained extra patrol in the area over the remainder of the week however nothing was discovered. At this point the investigation is closed unless further information is discovered.

Art said he didn't know if it was .22 or maybe a firecracker.  So you think he faked this and called his wife, then proceeded to lay in the dirt for 20 minutes?  Un-fuckin-believable!!!!   I thought you had more brains than that.

The other possibility is he over reacted. He heard what he thought were gunshots. It's reasonable to hide if he thought he was being targeted. It doesn't mean he was.

He does not know for sure one way or the other. He said it himself but his wife and child are frightened and he cares more about his family than his show and that is how it should be.  Should they just assume it was a firecracker and not worry about that?  Even if it was just that, somebody was sure trying to scare Art.  The problem is continuing, either way.

I remember reading on one of these threads about Art claiming to have received a death threat on a call having been made to his personal, unlisted phone number.  I had never heard this claim before.  Can someone point me to a post where Art personally makes that claim?  If true, was the carrier contacted to identify the number from which the threatening call was made?  Short of the use of a "burn phone" or some hi tech, gee whiz spook gear, is it possible to conceal the number from which a call is made from a carrier served with a court order to identify that number?

I seem to recall Art told about that threatening phone call on the air, not sure if he posted about it though.

Ok, thanks.  Can anyone give the date of the show where Art made the claim?

Still would like someone with real expertise to explain how/if it's possible to mask a phone number from a phone carrier?

Morgus

(Redacted) posted a summary of the incidents earlier tonight in the Art Bell thread.
She mentioned "the threatening phone call he received at his private home number on Nov 18th"

Again, thanks.  Come to think of it, it may well have been Heather's earlier post where I first learned of this claim.  Would like as much detail about this call as has been publically released either in a post (here, Facebook, artbell.com etc) or on-air by Art.  If this is true, I'd like someone with expertise in telephonic forensics to explain why this isn't a key part of the investigation overall, or at least in IDing who made the claimed call.

Yes, some voip providers allow you to put whatever you want as phone number and caller ID. I think an investigator would need to obtain the logs from each telecom provider along the call route and match the correct line items up on the logs to form a trace.
Even with a trace, the perp could have signed up with a prepaid voip provider that doesn't require much in the way of identification. So the voip account could be under a fake name too.

Does the "prepaid voip provider who doesn't require much in the way identification" equate to the use of a burn phone by the alleged phone threat issurer?

Someone fired a gun at Art's house?

Did the police find forensic evidence, er, bullet holes in Art's house?

Art lives like one block from the Chicken Ranch. A dis-satisfied customer was probably shooting at the Chicken Ranch and Art heard the gunshot.  ;)

Really Art? How disappointing.

Yes I didn't even think of that, but you can get away with a burner too.

I bet it'll never be solved.  Those kinds of cases are so varied.  How do we even know that the phone calls have anything to do with the intruders.  Could be totally seperate jackasses.

There are a number of ways that could get out.  He likely uses it to remain in contact with a number of people who could be tricked or influenced to getting it out, or forwarding it.  It could be just as simple as forwarding a personal email "hey Hoagland, I'm out grocery shopping with wifey, give me a call at (243)-343-7805" and then RCH takes that email and forwards it to some other nut like Bill Birnes who doesn't read it all the way, and forwards it to some of his contacts, and then you have it forwarded to some other nut.  I've seen this happen a few times.

Real life isn't CSI bro.

There is likely a lot of stuff that Art isn't telling us, and shouldn't.

Fan of the Chicken Ranch?

I maintain that it is likely that Redacted doesn't know the entirety of the details.  And that is not a reflection on her.

It happened on 18th November but Art didn't mention it on air until after the intruder incident on 23rd November. Art reported it at the beginning of the Seres Agenda show on 25th November. Art said it was phoned to his home number, but didn't say it was unlisted (I assume it must be though).
