Uh, you can change the Interface so that it emulates Windows 7 almost exactly.  And it's a very simple setting.

It's faster, more compatible and more stable than Windows 7.

So basically, you're wrong.

;D Meh... fuck Windows.

Windows 10 is good.  I've got it installed on a couple boxes and it's fast and stable.

If you're concerned about the privacy issues, all of the controversial "spying" settings can easily be switched off.

If you're going to continue to run an MS OS, and you've got a machine from the past 5 years or so, Windows 10 should run perfectly.

I don't trust 'em, as far as the privacy thing goes (even with switching off capabilities). But mainly, I'm thinking I'll probably not be able to run half or more of my favorite old apps. This is the same reason I haven't officially switched over to Ubuntu yet.

Making shit up as he goes along.

oh c'mon you say that like it's a bad thing ... c'mon man, it's like a perpetual-motion content-generation machine.  ;)

This guy is an extreme case of what happens when you're full of too much shit. Unfortunately, his shit-spewing found it's way onto our favorite show. Even with Art's considerable talents saving a show and turning it around when he's stuck with a guest that's this full of shit, he isn't saving this sinking Titanic for me, so night guys!

Goodnight!

Now the guest is going to help Art's intruder problem.  ::)

Can we circle back to how this guy was an ambassador in charge of preventing war in multiple alien worlds? How does someone drop that bomb without any follow up?

QuoteI can guarantee it's not black ops from the government.

Alrighty then.

Someone call and ask why the "Say Ray's" brought dolphins here (SciFi needs to know the truth).

That will change, soon.

Is Art having John Lear on?  Oh, man, I hope so!  He's a bit long in the tooth and last I heard him was not in good health.  Sooner is better than later, sadly. :-\

I can almost guarantee you'll be able to run all of those apps perfectly.  They've worked a lot on the compatibility feature.

We're testing apps at work.  We've got 4,000 clients on our domain.  Some of the customized apps got back to the early 90s and they work like a charm.   :)

There is more to it than just turning everything off in the GUI , all you have to do is check the packets and MS is still spying.
You have to edit the registry as well, some good instructions on the net.
Unfortunately every FORCED update will bring those reg values back.
Its true anytime you are on the net you are the product, but i assure you Linux or BSD is MUCH safer.

By the way, I was kidding around. I don't know much about Windows 10 and just know I don't like it.  ;)

Agreed.  He reminds me of another guy from a couple months back; maybe a "time traveler";  90% trivial BS, 10% on topic BS.  He spews so much pointless trivia I can't really follow his story.

If you like it, more power to you. ;) You're also correct about the settings being able to be switched off. I'm of the paranoid bent, and I just don't trust Microsoft based on their previous business practices. I've also had settings that I've switched off or modified in the registry, switched back on remotely. Of course I monitor my system much more heavily than most do, but it's something to be aware of.

I work in IT so we talk about this crap all day.   ;D

Most people in IT don't care about MS, Apple, etc. other than to learn what they need to know to make a living.

If I really had to put my chips down, the bottom line is, Linux is the best.

Open lines.
Art said open lines, but I guess he's going to try to pull it off with crazy Scott.

And they even took the good Mahjong games and MX Solitaire off it.  Thieving bastards.  Win 11 will require a payment for recharging the f'ing battery.

Live hacking attempts.

Whew. Glad it's not nuclear launches.

Would probably look similar tho. Coming from some of the same places, going to some of the same places.

Nothing is safe.  And it's simply irrelevant whether or not you're running Windows, Apple, Linux, Android, whatever.

It's 2015, folks.  The time's they have a changed.

I already know. We're here to post on Bellgab.

Oculary

On Win 10 btw. I've been running it since it dropped with only a few hiccups. I basically HAD to get it because of DX12. The last time I heard, DX12 ain't coming to 7. So if you're a gamer and you want next-gen games, suck it up and push that upgrade button. Has Art jumped ship to Apple? Is he going senile? HAS THE WHOLE WORLD GONE MAD?!
