Still hanging on to the global warming stupidity.

Okay, so we all know that Art Bell is nonsensical entertainment but I think we all believed that at his base, we thought he was moderately intelligent, but the fact that he really is sold in this global warming scam makes me realize he's not. Art! You haven't done the science! You are simply believing those who are bought and paid for. Wake up! Grow up! Look at the evidence to the contrary and the reasons behind the scam.

Pathetic....

Ha, yeah and he things the World is roughly spherical too.  Where's his science on that?  What a maroon.

MV/Liberace!

I do wish Art's climate change position weren't rooted in the idea that the discussion of man's role is over.

That reminds me I need to buy a postcard so I can send off my membership application to...somewhere on the infinite plane.  The website doesn't specify where to send it, actually.  Bummer.

At least if Bell had jumped on the "climate change" rather than global warming bandwagon like the rest of the globalist  and imbeciles did when they realized that if anything we'd be entering a cooling cycle he might be able to keep his delusion alive when the cooling does begin, but he didn't. It's scary. The globalists who promote the invasion of the United States and Europe by third world invaders tell the TV news to tell the world that the climate is changing because of man's use of fossil fuels and that the only solution is to force the United States and Europe to pay a tax to the UN so that money can be misappropriated and used to end first world sovereignty and morons across the globe buy into it hook, line and sinker. Unfortunately, with enough ignorance out there, we will, all die,of stupidity as if we were all the same.

Doctor Carl, so long as you're going to berate Art as being intellectually handicapped for believing the conclusions of tens of thousands of peer reviewed scientific articles and papers, please let me know where I can find your peer reviewed research that you alluded to in your original post.  I would really like not to have to worry about global warming or climate change, and you claim to have scientifically refuted the evidence to the point where anyone who disagrees with your conclusions should be deemed an idiot.

Please do not include political arguments or references to Al Gore, because those have no place in evaluating the scientific merits of the issue.  Global warming was an issue before Al Gore came along, but in America things only seem to reach mass awareness if they become politically relevant.  Al Gore simply stepped into that ring and brought the issue before the masses.  Not being a climate scientist his opinion and the opinion of any politician really has no value when it comes to the conclusions (or lack thereof) of anthropogenic global warming.

I would also like to understand your credentials since climate is a complex science and many who dispel the conclusion of climate change do not understand it.  If you will be so kind, in which accredited program did you receive your doctorate, and what is your primary area of research?

Thank you for your attempts to elucidate on this topic.

"Tens of thousands of peer reviews"? How do you know? Shall I answer that question for you? Because the bought and paid for news media, the same news media that knows damn well that Obama's SS# was issued to an address in Connecticut at a time when he and no member of his family had ever been there yet won't touch the subject, told you that this is what you are to believe and without doing ANY research of your own, without picking up books to read what actual climatological data are, you not only bought the party line hook, line and sinker but you spout it as if you knew something. I not only read paleo-climatological articles and books but as part of my own doctoral dissertation I studied paleo-climatological evidence which pointed to dramatic and rapid shifts in climate thousands of years ago. How about YOU "professor"? Other than believe whatever the news media tell you to believe, what have you done to question the globalist bullshit, besides nothing?

Try reading a damn book. Try Harold Ambler's "Don't Sell Your Coat: Surprising Truths About Climate Change." Or, if you think you can handle it, which I doubt, Try Kirsten Peters book "The Whole Story of Climate".

Wake up. You're being played like a fiddle by those who know exactly how early on your brain quits.

Here's what's going to happen climate-wise regardless of man's contribution to atmospheric conditions. The Holocene is likely just another Pleistocene altithermal and we are already more than 10,000 years into it. When it ends it will likely end fast, as in possibly in one person's lifetime, and when it does it will get so cold that last time around, New York was under TWO MILES of ice. There will be a DRAMATIC reduction in food production and people will die by the hundreds of millions due to starvation and the riots that will occur as they starve.

Some who actually study climatology rather than get on line and demonstrate their ignorance and stupidity predict that a new Maunder Minimum will happen soon due to changing solar patterns. Maybe your brain can handle an article if not a book or two? Try this. http://www.livescience.com/51597-maunder-minimum-mini-ice-age.html

In any event, this would be much easier to deal with than the end of the current altithermal, which WILL happen.

Altithermals have been nothing but GREAT for mankind. These imbeciles who fear a warming trend worry that cities, like NY, will be under water if ice melts, which it is not doing. (See antarctic ice mass data.) Well why would that be? I'll tell you why. Because totally ignoring what paleo-climatological date could have taught builders of these cities, they built the cities right next to the ocean. HELLOOOOOO!!!! How much research would it have taken to learn how clueless this was? Undoubtedly they were builders who understood as much about climate as you do.

Anyway, I'm sure you will not educate yourself in any way, you learned nothing from this, you will turn on the TV news and it will tell you to panic and not only will you but you will run around like Chicken Little telling others to panic too.

Listen: CLIMATE CHNGES! It has ALWAYS changed dramatically and often swiftly. Mankind is not forever. The idea is not to send money to the UN. The idea is not to try to change the earth's climate. The idea is to squeeze your skull hard enough to get an idea and learn to adapt to what WILL ultimately happen. And you better HOPE that what will happen will either be nothing during your lifetime or a warming trend, which is highly unlikely.

What I (and probably others) don't understand, is how you draw the conclusion that those posting here are stupid? I haven't expressed any view one way or the other to what you assert; but you assume I'm stupid because what? I and others haven't rolled over and stated "Oh yeah Dr Carl, you're right on there buddy, yeah."? Is that it?

So, wind your neck in, take a deep breath and count to ten. Exactly what is it you know about others posting here, and what they know or don't know? Is it unreasonable to ask what your qualifications are to justify the intemperate statements you have. You do seem very sure, so it's fair that G for P might ask what it is in your CV that makes you the resident expert to draw you researched and multi experimental conclusions?

DrCarl

ANYONE who can not see that this global warming agenda is a scam aimed at bringing this country down is an imbecile. And I am posting to the entire thread. If what I post doesn't apply to you, simply move on.

Those of you above should have someone explain this to you.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/jamestaylor/2014/05/16/record-polar-ice-extent-debunks-antarctic-global-warming-scare/

The sea ice in the Antarctic ocean is seasonal.  It has expanded in it's greatest seasonal extent, but that is in spite of the surrounding water becoming warmer.  Nevertheless, there is a net loss of ice in the Antarctic due to land ice melt.

The increased extent of the winter sea ice in the Antarctic Ocean, despite underlying warming sea temperatures, is likely due to a combination of desalination from the land ice melt and changing wind patterns, with cooling winds coming off Antarctica and from the upper atmosphere.  There are many variables so it is not completely understood.

In short, Antarctic seas are warming and there is a net loss of ice in the Antarctic region.

I haven't read your earlier response yet as Yorkshire's post suggests I need to brace myself for it and I can't spare the time right now.  Will read later.

true but I also think he has never heard Art talk about climate change. Art often says it doesn't matter whether its caused by man or a natural process. I've heard Art say this basically every time he mentions climate change and Carl's whole argument is that Art is unintelligent because he buys the 'global warming scandal' which is that its all caused by men.
Then Carl himself said climate changes naturally so not sure what his whole argument is, and apparently we aren't smart enough for him to try and explain it ::)

You put your title as 'Dr' in your avatar.  It seems rather pretentious and suggests you are trying to give yourself an air of authority, even though your expertise may be entirely unrelated to the subject at hand.  In fact, your conduct seems entirely unbecoming of an educated professional.  You further chastised Art as being unintelligent because he disagrees with your position and 'has not done the science.'  This implies you have done the science, which means to me you have peer reviewed papers.  If you have not submitted your research for others to critique then it would not really be science.

I have no problem with people posting opinions anonymously.  Obviously I try to stay anonymous.  But, I am not claiming to be a climate scientist.  You were the one to imply you are a doctor who has done the science.  That too would be fine but then you went off calling anyone stupid who doesn't agree with you.  If that is your game, I would have liked to have seen some support for your statements since they at odds with the scientific consensus.  It is not as if art is claiming the world is flat, something which we have centuries of hard evidence to refute.  Simply giving us your credentials to back up your claim as having done the science would not reveal who you are.

Dr you are the one that is crazy. Don't you know we need to create some more financial bubbles for bankers to feed on via carbon credit and future trading schemes? And more taxes, ideally globally, because taxes always solve problems? And how in the world are all those starving graduate students and climatologists going to eat without government cheese to prove the warming? And those bureaucrats in places like the UN, WTO, etc? Come on, they need more power and something to do. The global warming climate change climate disruption will keep them busy and, really, all those caterers, resorts, lodges, and private jets need to be used and what better way that for politicians to fly out and discuss the warming and "carbon footprints" of those pesky little people, farmers, and productive businesses over some nice wine and dinners?

I'm not American.  I don't get my news from Obama.  I knew about global warming before I had ever heard of Obama or Al Gore; before the government was even willing to address it.  After transferring from a physics program, I focused my engineering education over 25 years ago into avenues that would help reduce CO2 emissions using alternative methods of propulsion.  You sound like Timothy Ball.  He also specialized in paleo-climate.  However, he is not a scientist and to the best of my knowledge hasn't published scientific papers on climate.  he was a professor of geography who clearly does not understand the physics and chemistry of climate.  A court claim made against him but never pursued shows that virtually all his claims are false, some easily verifiably so.  You can find the .pdf here.

In your paleo-climate studies, have you ever seen such a rapid global change in temperature?  How do you explain the correlated curve between temperature and the 30% increase in atmospheric CO2 since the beginning of the industrial revolution?  How do you negate man's contribution to that CO2 when we have released as much carbon in two hundred years that the Earth took hundreds of millions to sequester?  How do you account for the fact that the biosphere is retaining roughly one joule of energy ever second for every square meter of the Earth's surface, on average, a figure that would result in an extra 3 GJ of energy per square meter in one hundred years?  If the Earth is retaining more heat than it is rejecting on such a grand scale, how secure are you that natural cycles can counteract that when, to the best of my knowledge, no natural cycle has shown such rapid change?  How do you account for the consistently rising temperatures in the ocean, which has many times the heat storage capacity of the atmosphere and is much less temperamental?

QuoteIn any event, this would be much easier to deal with than the end of the current altithermal, which WILL happen.

Flooding is an issue for low lying areas but there are many other consequences that are definitely not good for mankind.  More energy (heat is a form of energy) in the system to the tune of one Joule per second per meter means more energy to produce violent storms.  Local changes to weather as a result of climate change means loss of cropland through drought and flooding which we need to support our ballooned population of 7.3 billion, which only exists thanks to the agricultural methods we may now not be able to support.  Increased northern temperatures means migration of insects, parasites and diseases without giving the ecosystem time to adapt.  In British Columbia, we have lost countless valleys worth of marketable timber due to the pine beetle, an invasive species that our cold winters would have killed off in the past.   Our drinking water contains parasites it never had before.  Loss of food and resources mean increased economic and political pressures, resulting in war and bloodshed.  We are seeing a de-speciesization, cutting down the gene pool and again making plants, animals, and crops even more susceptible to disease.  If this happened by a natural cycle, there would be time for us and the Earth to adapt.   I think you need to put a little more thought into this.
