Yep saw the big blue morning moon on drive back from Ottawa and this morning.. there is crummy picture of it taken while driving.. a page or so back

If any of you haven't seen it yet ..get up early while still dark ..it's a sight to behold ..

It is beautiful.  And, I can't help seeing it.  It shines directly through my bedroom window, on it's journey across the night time sky.

There's a beautiful blood-orange full moon just cresting over the tree-line. Take a look before it loses it's color

Nice Starr.. I have to walk out to road to see it raising ..but in the morning it's  hanging above the lake .. magnified by atmosphere.. I'll try to take a decent picture this morning ..but they seldom turn out. I have no skills ..

Not to derail the thread or be crude but it a weird, and apparently, verified and documented phenomena but only for some people. It has been personally verified. Sorry.

Apparently my sense of sight is worse than my sense of smell? My moon looks nice but normal color (though very humid and we've had so much rain though now not much cloud cover but no "blue" etc.)

You know the drill.  The second full moon in a single month is called a blue moon.  I'm not sure why, but I don't think it has anything to do with it's color.  Feel free to correct me where I'm wrong.

LMAO...  Want to give your co-workers or friends a special treat ? Eat nothing but asparagus for breakfast and drink lots of water. It'll almost make your eyes burn. (That's actually kind of cruel - it really stinks the joint up.)

Yah, but the comments about blood-orange color, etc. Same old moon, at least here. Didn't scope it or anything though. Did see one of the supposed end-of-world, or some such, "blood moons" a while back. That was sort of cool but a bit hazy out and so not a great sighting. Night night. No world's end on moon phases, so sleep tight. Or do they, put that .45 under your pillow in case they rise!

I could be where you're located. I'm further west right now so I might be picking up the smoke in the atmosphere from the fires and that's what gave it the beautiful red-orange color. It's still slightly tinged and not a bright white. This effect is most noticeable at moon-rise and moon-set because the light from the moon is travelling through more layers of atmosphere before it gets to you. That's also why the moon looks bigger at those times.

BTW - I'm a 15%er. I can really smell when someone has eaten asparagus.

I am also. But other stuff also even coffee etc and can detect gas leaks...no, not human, quickly but like when burners are let on or the line has a leak! Funny incident. Go into a sister's house and before opening the door said. Hold it to some of her kids I picked up cause she had some not known about meeting. Went in and a burner was on but not lit. Older kid was in his room on a computer, like they do, and I was "wtf you don't smell that." Reply: "I thought it was just something mom was cooking!" All good, aired out etc but still kid don't know (and our gas service advertises it even! Got a "nose" for that, I guess.)

I prefer gas over electric for the instant heat control. You do have to be more careful w/ it though. I've been waiting for the prices on the inductance stovetops to come down so I can give one a try. Instant heat control there too.

I still have an older model and it is rare but can, I think something with the cover or if approaching a very, very low setting can has gas w/o flame. I know it can be adjusted, and I mean to do it but, for now I just pay attention. I almost think--not really-- like some old redneck lawyer politician I knew would proclaim "all my guns are loaded" So, presumably, be treated with care and attention.

That's weird on a new stove. On an older one, sometimes the burners oxidize and partially plug causing the flame to extinguish on the lower settings. Probably a high quality casting from China. :

HA! Yeah, replace a part in my older one, basically like a glowplug in an older diesel engine system from what I can reckon, for the oven. Online search and saved replacing! Works like a charm.
