Just got an alert about a low pressure area that is being monitored by the NHC north of the Yucatan. It will be watched as is slowly moves North Northeast for further development, any of witch shouldn't occur till early next week.

Stay tuned (happy first day of meteorological Summer and the first day of Hurricane season. Oh joy)

Hey, I'm actually the sun! But the news tells me to expect more rain tonight and the next few days. Crazy weather but we will be complaining about drought in a few months I suspect.

ps: did you know Grizzly Adams was a real person? His real story is more interesting than that great tv show (I wish it would be remastered and sold on DVD.) He was a real mountainman but then parlayed that into a career, of sorts, in the entertainment industry. The bear on the State flag of California was based on a huge Griz that Adams had caught. He also worked providing Barnum with wild animals he would catch.

Checking out my SCUBA gear as we speak. I keep seeing pairs of animals walking/wading down the pipeline behind my house. I hope that the low you were speaking about down by the Yucatan behaves. There is no place for rain from a tropical system to go.

Actually, my place is fine. Most of the heavy stuff has remained to the north of me, but I am sure I will get my share sometime today.

Checking out my SCUBA gear as we speak. I keep seeing pairs of animals walking/wading down the pipeline behind my house. I hope that the low you were speaking about down by the Yucatan behaves. There is no place for rain from a tropical system to go.

On another positive note I haven't had to water my garden or turn on my lawn yet this spring/summer (yard now a jungle or pond since unable to mow) and got a lot of peppers and tomatoes that seem to be thriving in all the rain. Not at low ground and above creek so no flooding. Every idiot broke out tubes, kayaks, and canoes when the sun broke out the other day. Fun times but one lady dead, several water rescues, etc. People don't remember how powerful water is.
ps: I guess we aren't alone. Apparently France and Germany getting hit with crazy rains and floods.

There are a few thunderstorms offshore but we shall see when the sun comes up. Flash flood and areal flood watch still in effect for the whole coast until tomorrow night.

Looks like the NHC upped the chance of development of that low to 50% We'll be watching!

OMG. Thanks IB. They all look great. I'm bookmarking this page. I have a very prolific guava tree in my backyard. September is basically spent freezing guava nectar in sandwich baggies.  Then pop a baggie in a big jar of sun tea or makes very tasty guavaritas

Lucky! I love guava paste (Goya brand guava paste in the ethnic food section of supermarkets) with a slice of mozzarella cheese. I have a Dominican co-worker who has a plantain tree in  his home here in NY. It's an indoor plant that has not given fruit yet. He does not know if it will, but he says that his family has mango and plantain trees in DR. Anything that I plant in the summer here in the Northeast is dead by late September or early October if I am lucky. The plants that I bring inside seem to die as well.  Have you tried to make guava jam? As a kid we went peach picking one time and  my mother made peach jam and canned it in Bell jars. I was sick of peach anything by the following year.

I've collected a few guava recipes but I love my guava teas and by the time I give some frozen baggies to a few friends and neighbors, there's not much left.

I'm kind of infamous as a plant killer but the guava tree was here way before me and luckily very hardy in this climate. With the extra rain from El Nino this year it's already loaded with buds and even one blossom already. I will be busy in the kitchen this year
