Did the storm hit your area GS?

On and off. Raining now but not much lightening. High tide is in an hour so if the rain isn't too bad, I should be ok. Lightning might have hit one of the palm trees. It hit somewhere in 100 meters* of here.

*A nod to my Canadian friends.

When it rains too much, just grab your companion, find a bonnie boat and sail out....

The peeve.... You have my soul.. For this Saturday night, as I posted before, Michael of "End of Days Radio" asked me to pick four songs for the break between guests. Hope  the 4 songs I strung together, are as expressive as Vans' beautiful song. "Into the Mystic" a different version.

Take off, eh.

On a serious note, eh, is that not one of the best western movies ever made? I only discovered it about 10 years ago. Mainly because I used to think I hated western, save Tombstone.
It was on tv in the middle of the night. I was heading to bed and that opening scene just drew me in.

gabrielle

the peeve..just love Blondie...thanks.

I like most westerns. Don't know if I have a favorite.

A funny memory. I was interning at a radio station in Ottawa for a week, and the station was taking requests for their top 100 love songs. They went polling around the office and  newsroom and even asked me. I had no idea. The news director told me to pick Roberta Flack's The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, because that was his song. I told them I couldn't pick that one, because I didn't really know it, nor any love song for that manner.
The news director marched me down to the On Air DJ's booth, and he sat me down during a commercial. They plugged some headphones into a record player and I listened to the song while the DJ was doing his thing live on air. Once he played his cd for on air, I took off my headphones and said I knew the Robert Flack song and had "heard it before."
The DJ then put my headphones back on my head and stated: "You heard it, but this time, Listen to it!" It was clear to me this was the DJ's favourite love song too!
Sure enough, if I didn't get misty eyed listening to the song the second time.  They recruited their soldier.

The radio station was Majic 100 in Ottawa, the News Director was the voice of God, Bill Parker.

Now having stated that memory, it wasn't long afterwards I discovered Van Morrison's Into the Mystic. Somewhere on my spectrum of love songs, Into the Mystic is right up there for one of the best love songs ever been written.  It is the perfect beginner relationship song. Two companions go into the mystic and unknown. It's the perfect song to start a family, into the mystic. It's the perfect song for going into the twilight years together, into the mystic. Just Brilliant!

the Peeve...I have spent many an hour/day/week listening the Magic 100.  I know of what you speak.  What a beautiful and meaningful post.  (I mostly listen to sports radio 1200 but ....you know....)

Ok back then in 1994-95 Majic 100 was a contemporary hits station, Energy 1200 was the Top 40 beginnings of high hop, dance. Both stations were run out the same place. I am desperately trying to remember the names of DJ's but failing.
I remember driving the news cruiser and it said Energy AM 1200 on the side.

It seems so odd to be in a Bellgab thread where people are not fighting! I am not sure what to think of it!

In the Art Bell thread, people are fighting over Art Bell for what he is doing or not doing.

In the political threads, people are fighting for the right to galvanize their opinions as the correct and only opinion.

In the Heather Wade thread, people are fighting over the fact Heather is getting better or butchering words on air.

In the RCH thread, the posters are really nice but it's the Radio Hosts that are fighting!

So, if people aren't going to start slapping other people or pulling hair here, I won't know what to do with myself in this thread!

I am really tempted to post the pie fight of Blazing Saddles!
