The species started in Africa. Civilization was started in the middle east and a few other places independently later.
Which is always interesting.

Central America particularly. The Aztecs even independently invented currency based on copper to the point that the Spanish had an exchange rate for the local currency during the early years of colonialism. Astounding if you think about it.

that is the strange part , a few cultures came up with the same ideas, even tho there is no proof that they ever mingled far back into history

You know, I think it just comes down to convenience and utility. We invented the same things independently, such as the bow and arrow, because it was a universal labor saving device and thinking people around the world, well, invent. But I certainly don't discount ancient mingling, of course.

One of my gripes about globalism and even the internet etc is that it, contrary to the common-view, might inhibit progress. I am likely wrong but still see a lack of curosity in many of my younger relatives. "Apps" and games on their platforms already done, no way, unless "into it" to tweak or understand how they run or make them. And even ignoring nature and more natural play, sports, and fun. A video game one can become proficient in a sport and can help but not physically or "real." Hell I even saw some stat that kids don't want to drive and sex is going down due to porn and sexting? (Not advocating bad behavior, of course, either way.) But also, my pet theory, is that if someone has come up with some research or idea he might be lead down a road. In the past we had mathematicians, philosophers, religious thinkers, inventors, etc who independently, or at least with more time gaps, develop theories and observations and products on their own. Some of which like in calculus etc developed by different methods. Now those people could be instantly connected and wouldn't have unique theories to be developed. I don't know.

Jaz and Curtis are doing a test podcast and they need a little help.  Can someone who has techy knowledge spare a few minutes and pop in?  Thank you. ;)

while that is true, the one common idea that has always bugged me is dragons, the aztecs, the chinese and euros shared the same idea

It's the advance of technology. They now have brain prosthetics (phones) that present a better ideal than the real world does, especially in regards to sex. This also applies to science and philosophy where ideas are transmitted instantaneously and discussed leading to a much faster consensus and a merging of methods, for better or worse. I have no clue if this is a good thing or not lol.

I think it may be superficial though, when you look into that sort of mythology they can be pretty different when you get into the details.

Why not bring it totally up-to-date ... have the dispute handled by a certified mediator, establish a subsidized low-interest repayment schedule, and give each a participation award for being all around commendable citizens.
I'm surprised they haven't in this era of PC and snowflakes. ::)

Well, you know, if the universe is really a computer simulation then all religions would be valid as they were presumably programmed into the sim by the programmer-God. That's the one thought experiment I can't get past lol.

I heard on some show that the European vs. Chinese mythology of dragons are quite different though.  Still what I find weird is that for some reason dragons seem like such believable creatures, like they're part of our collective consciousness.  I mean I don't feel that way about minotaurs or hippogriffs.
