I think what happened is Dick got sick of Rossy constantly improving the show because goddamnit he's been in the business 70 years and used to get drunk with Walter Cronkite, he's not going to let some punk kid tell him how to run his show. Now we're back to the epic clusterfuck this show was in it's first few weeks.

I think many people in the "biz" are divas, coaster...., including Art Bell.....nothing that unusual IMHO, however they make great radio.

Some of us actually thought OSOM was better the last couple of weeks than MITD...go figure.....

Which is a hoot coming from someone who never went to college and is a life partner with some fake doctor without any sort of MD. Hoaxland has a disdain for people with actual educations and just claims we were all brainwashed or whatever BS.

It makes you wonder if some, only some, of the various stalkers etc over time to various stars, and especially those in the conspiracy circles or Hollywood crowd had some valid points- at the beginning of their campaign: unaccredited script, copied song, casting-couch without role, work not paid-for, conspiracy theory actually invented by them, etc. But unable to handle it legally, and likely already a bit crazy or drug-addled, so......you get the stalkers etc.

I was long a detractor of Hoagland along the same lines as expat and astroguy.  I don't like it when someone defrauds the public and takes advantage of a listener base of millions of people to destroy what we've built in terms of critical thinking, education, and scientific advancement.  I really think that trend is having damaging effects on America's ability to innovate and compete economically, takes away from the ability to evaluate and act on real issues or make rational social and voting decisions, and generally just seems like a selfish thing to do. 

But with Ross's help, I saw Hoagland shift towards what seemed like a legit path along his original career choice of self-proclaimed science writer/reporter (rather than self-proclaimed scientist).  He actually did a very good job of critically evaluating a lot of the guests.  I never spent five dollars partly because I wasn't ready to support someone who had made their life off huckstering, but I was leaning in that direction.  I held out hope watching this Hoagie evolution. 

As soon as Ross said he was moving on, though, I guess we could all see the writing on the wall.  Ross gave us good, young, fresh guests who could challenge Hoagland as well as he could challenge them.  Now Hoagland is back in his comfort zone and will undoubtedly only converse with people in his own age bracket and huckster circles. 

I know I never showed my appreciation of what Ross did, by taking Hoagland out of his comfort zone and carefully controlling show quality.  In fact I may have come off as dismissing his hard work at times (that was never directed at Ross).  Anyway, Ross, I wanted to add to the other to let you know your efforts brought us all together, and your conduct at the end, especially when compared to Leo Asscraft's, has been nothing but exemplary.  Difficult situations serve to bring out the best of the best, and also the worst of the worst.  I think anyone here would back you in anything you hope to accomplish.
