30 years ago we where doing COBAL, im mostly doing Python and C++ now.
I know a kid who is probably around 16 or 17 that i will hire in a heartbeat, but i think he may be getting a free ride to MIT when he gets out of HS.

My company uses a beast of a cobol application.   Whenever it needs some work, a dude in his 60s has to do it Lol.

Wow you youngsters!  i saw it at the theater when if first came out.

I actually remember the trailer for it, which I had caught on a VHS tape (probably of some SCTV episode).  It was so cool I kept playing it over and over!

But that's why we wanted to hear McAfee and Hoagland together 🙊🙉🙈

Definitely a missed opportunity.  Robin's just too serious for me.  I feel like I'm listening to those dreary public service ads about various intractable social issues.  I want Hoagie's enthusiastic stream-of-consciousness.

You mean you didn't hear, "wait, wait, wait..." or "but, but ,but" enough?  ???

I like to hear those maybe a couple, three times.  :D

New Horizons has been kicking my ass the last few months with work.  350 hours of work and two months later (I can charge 22.5% of my time to New Horizons), I just submitted my research paper on Pluto, Charon, Nix, and Hydra craters today.  Contrast that with the time spent by RCH and his self-anointed "experts" on their "research."

What's the comparison?  Oh, that's right, doing things to actual, real scientific rigor and making sure everything is accounted for and looking at the past research and writing it up takes time.  It's much easier to look at a picture, make s--t up, and proclaim the real scientists are hiding everything on a late-night radio program.  ::)

Good to see ya astro.  You haven't missed much recently except that the golden ratio is the secret to all cosmic mysteries.  Better re-check your data for it.   ;)

I'll get right on that.

Meantime, who's the new producer?  And does he or she feel the need to play host in every episode?  And what are these ones where the fake Doctor Falkov is hosting?

Welcome back.

The new producer is a mysterious "Miss M' Haven't heard from her at all. Dr. Falkov has been guest-hosting some nights when Hoaxy can't make it to the mic. Speculation abounds about "Miss M" but some seem to think she's that sundress-clad singer Hoaxy was hitting on awhile back.

Hmmmm.... are we sure it's not Falkov?  Based on the X-mas open lines and the fighting between her and MMMM-kay, it seemed like she might take over.  Though I guess Richard does think Amanda is the Best.

He had robin on as a guest two weeks back and was still talking to miss m, miss m also accidentally spoke on the air last week,  we Haven't confirmed that is Amanda best but we know it isn't robin tho.

Got it.  UnLESS ... What if they clones Robin 2-3 decades ago and are grooming the clone to be Richard's hot young thang and will transfer Robin's mind to her soon, but in the meantime they're using her to run the back-end?  IF YOU CAN'T PROVE ME WRONG, THAT PROVES I'M RIGHT!!

Oh, joy.  Gives them more time to make things up.  I would expect that they will bring up recent papers because we're all working against a deadline of March ≈15 to submit papers for a special issue of a journal.  After submission, many of us are putting the drafts up on arXiv.org ... meaning they are free for anyone to look at, including crazies.

Oh yea in the last panel they mentioned going after " hoaxers" , we all assumed you and expat would blow a gasket at that.

Good to see you back!  Maybe it's this one:

I haven't listened to it, but it's the most recent Muppet show.

astroguy

I'm surprised it's been over a month since he convened his panel of muppets.
