Allan Weiner charges $20-50/hr to air a program on WBCQ

Big money Hoagland ran out of dimes

People are dumb enough to pay for airtime on a shortwave station?  ???

I wouldn't be surprised if good 'ol Rossy had to cross his legs a lot. ;)

Does anyone happen to know how Rossy is getting on these days?

After suffering so badly at the hands of the egregious Hoagland, I would like to think Rossy is currently sitting aboard a 90-foot yacht moored off the coast of Barbados sipping one of those alcoholic beverages with the little umbrella in it and laughing his arse off at Hoagland's pathetic, nickel-and-dime attempts to hustle people.

It's actually KIYQ in Las Vegas.

Is he actually paying to be on though? The only way that arrangement ever makes sense is if advertisers cover the cost.

You will note that here in N.American most of the SW broadcasts these days are doomsday style preachers, Spanish preachers, or some other kind of preacher. And number stations. So for the audience listening to shortwave--usually means in a remote location, like some holed-up off-the-grid prepper, some remote Mormon extended family living in some mountain compound, some religious sect where most modern tech is verboten, or a shack of illegals living packed like sardines near an apply orchard weary from picking- a good target audience for preachers and end-of-days stuff.

When he made his return he announced his "affiliation" with that station.  There used to be a banner on the site and a tab to see his bio.  That is not there anymore however.

Or subscribers, I guess. Though I could see some egotistical person simply paying to hear his voice or get "his views" to the public if he had the money. The rates at the station seem pretty cheap but you can do the same (with a much larger audience than SW) on the internet or youtube.

The 3rd Party, post-dated, out of state check that RCH gave the station must have bounced.

Interesting; thank you for posting that.  I wonder if the Saturday-Sunday timeslot moves Mr. Big toward the $20 end of the scale?  ???

I can't listen to Bassett.  His monologues are boring.  "disclosure....disclosure.....disclosure...etc, etc"  Quayle is always entertaining.

Only with Hillary, damn it! Get that through your head!  >:(

Exactly. It's cheap because there's barely an audience. In this instance, Hoagie is the one actually providing the value and they're charging him?

It might make sense to buy your way on to major market stations, but again, only if advertisers are covering the cost or if you're using them as a promotional vehicle feeding into your other products, like Dave Ramsey does.

Makes zero sense to pay for shortwave or LPFM.

I would think even RCH can afford two nights a week, with subscribers, book sales, etc- especially when the book sales from his soon-to-be-printed opus happen.

According to Hoagland, his book was supposed to come out at or around last Christmas.  Anyone else remember this now-classic Hoagland lie?

QuoteBecause it is Christmas and we are close to the book release, we excitedly planned a same-day show too quickly for the good station KIYQ, Las Vegas, to accommodate. So if you received a notice about a live show tonight - hang in there - it's on the way - just not tonight.

Not for another six months, either.  ::)

He might actually get more mileage of the book by dangling it month after month as a "soon-to-be-released" (but-not-quite-yet) "benefit" for club 19 and one-half subscribers that never actually materialises (e.g. the "special events" promised between 23 May and 3 June that never happened).

In any case, I share your eagerness for the book to be printed, and soon, although your own reasons for anxiously looking forward to it are likely to differ sharply from mine (which have to do with running low on lavatory paper).

Hoagie should just stream live on YouTube IMO.  It's free and easy.

YouTube is beneath Hoagie.  He desires only the finest streaming services...at somebody else's cost.  ;)

Back in July of 2015, when the name Art Bell evoked delight and excitement (rather than the entirely different set of emotions it is likely to evoke in 2017), someone thought highly enough of WBCQ to pay for Art Bell's then-new programme to be carried on it.

I was never clear on who paid for it (and why; I know Bob Crane paid for WTTW so he could sell SW radios off the back of it), but it lasted about a month before it disappeared.

Anyway, to answer your question: yes, people are dumb enough to pay for airtime on a shortwave station.  :)

Just out of curiosity, are you able to receive China Radio International (CRI) in North America?

At a time when traditional shortwave broadcasters like the BBC and VOA are sharply curtailing shortwave broadcasts (or eliminating them altogether), the Chinese are actively expanding their shortwave coverage.  This causes me to wonder whether the Chinese are taking a huge gamble...or merely taking a long-term view of things the way the Chinese are noted for doing.  Any views on that?

Outed.  How embarrassing.  :-[

oh so these stations aren't even accessible on a regular AM/FM radio?

i think the owner of the Maine station was on with Noory or one of the Coast hosts like 5 years ago and it was a fairly interesting tale of him running pirate radio stations in the 60s/70s from the sea.

I must admit that Hoagland's relationship with KIYQ has me baffled.  Their website says their programming is centred around "historical Las Vegas."  What do Hoagland's pseudoscientific ramblings have to do with Las Vegas, historical or otherwise?  ???

However, I will hazard a guess at why he had to go to WBCQ before he could do any live broadcasts.  KIYQ seems to be one of those "radio station in a closet"-type deals that does not have an on-site engineer to manage live broadcasts.  If I understand the situation correctly (?), they are merely rebroadcasting the stream that WBCQ pipes to them and WBCQ deals with any problems that arise with Hoagland.

Or something.  Perhaps KIYQ does have the ability to conduct live broadcasts after all and was simply too smart to want to deal with a man for whom a USB port is something new and exciting?  :-\

Bell's catapult into woo-woo stardom began with a regular series of "eyewitness reports..." breathlessly transmitted from a phone booth in the desert outside of Las Vegas by one Sean David Morton.

Thus, obviously, there's an Orange Orange there. Why wouldn't there be?

Ha. Yeah, I don't like how the English-speaking world is cutting SW broadcasts. I'm not sure if I've gotten the CRI but I have heard some Chinese speaking, so maybe? Besides the preachers most stuff are in Spanish, Chinese, and sometimes I get some French. And number stations.
Re: the Chinese. They think long-term and also SW is pretty cheap and is great for spy-agency communications and out reach to rural or poor populations. Or in cases of some kind of disaster where other communications are down. However, they should be broadcasting in French, English, and various African dialects to help facilitate their take over in Africa etc.

I was thinking about Saucy Rossy just last week.  Hope he's well.

I think one or two of the stations are accessible on regular radio, if you are within a few miles from the broadcast tower...

Has anybody posted or willing to post a recording of Gary Leggiere, with Captain Hoagland, from last week?

Ha!  Typically I'd say "unbelievable", however this is Hoagie and he really can't be trusted.  It's not surprising.  He's done this type of thing many times before.  I wonder if there really is any communication between he and his flunkies that produce the show.  It seems they are quick to announce things only to cancel at the last minute.

*sigh*  Oh well.  I was actually up for the program tonight.
HMMMMmmmmmmm - That's an interesting thought. Perhaps there is is a mole, a possible 'Agent Provocateur', just like the micro camera's in Fxxxxx's cables. ???

Vacuum tube SW will propagate after an EMP or nuclear detonation. Almost all new vacuum tubes are being manufactured in China now. Might be a connection there for a Chinese contingency fall-back plan.  Then again, I could just be Doom-N-Gloom  trolling.  ;)

Cool. Cyclops alien face (2 angles). Strange mouth with the snaggleteeth, kinda like the weird fish-face Star Trek emissaries who must eat directly after being revived from suspended animation. It'd be nice to have a panned-out image to see what kind of paraphernalia might be lying around.

IMHO Gary has chosen absolutely the wrong issue to fight Hoagland on, and I've told him that. All the bullshit RCH has flung around--the Accutron, "Von Braun's Secret," The table of coincidence, all absolute rubbish and demonstrably so. But Gary obsesses about some pictures of other faces on Mars which were used as set dressing on a TV show nobody saw. Silly.

Where can we read your review of, The UFO Diaries?
