remember when, for a short time in the early 90's it was cool to say "alternative rock"

it was a time of oven mitts. terrible. around then i was going to see speed and thrash metal bands. little did i know at the time that those bands would all break up or turn into shite before the decade was out. 1994 though, that was a good year for rock music. maybe an apex of some kind. several bands released quintessential material that year. a lot of shit happened in general.
