Luckily it thought my iPad was an android device.

Meh.  I found it boring in stretches.  I've seen it recently too.  I'll let it be known that I revere pre-1968 Hollywood and don't like many of the new classics made between 1968-1976.  I like how films embraced sexuality once more but a lot of the films leave me cold.  I start liking mainstream films again when Lucas and in particular Spielberg enter the scene.  It's an interesting contradiction in me as I love late 60's and 70's exploitation cinema.

As a TCM fan, I can agree.  My list of favs are ANCIENT!  However, I have some fond memories of movies that, in my youth, were entertaining.  My intellectual acumen has developed since then, but my fondness remains for some of those rather simple days.

You should post in the Classic Movie thread. I'd be interested to see your take on some movies you like

As an example of what I don't like.  Take a look at the nominees to the 1970 Best Picture.

Patton- love and glad it won but only came to it late.  I saw the TV movie sequel decades before I saw the original.

Airport- need I say more.

Five Easy Pieces -  Outside of the sandwich scene,  I don't like the film.  As a matter of fact, I didn't care much for Nicholson until I saw the Shining.

Love Story -bleech

MASH  - liked the TV show but haven't watched the original movie

I think my problem is, I've never  fully embraced the French New Wave.  I'm getting around to watching a few of the films that defined it but again they are hard to like.  I appreciate the added realistic touches but many times the story lines don't engage me and while I can appreciate and love downbeat endings like in the film noirs of the 1940's, many times films of the FNW and 1970's just depress me with their downbeat endings.

I should!  My brother Mike and I watch nonstop!  I miss Robert Osborne so much, but I do like Ben M.

Thanks for the catch Gravity.    :(
Sorry about that.

Scared me at first. I saw the redirects happening in my address bar and then it gave me a ransom ware msg but the message said my android device was locked.  Doesn't seem to have done any harm on my iPad. Probably a good thing I was using my cellular. No chance for it to have populated across my wireless signal through my laptop.

I'm the same way. My default tv channel. Robert Osborne was like losing a grandpa. Like having master classes in his short intros. I really like Ben Mankiewicz too. He has a gentle often self-deprecating humor I appreciate. I think his introduction style is very entertaining

Yep, I am in agreement.  I enjoy Graham Green's FALLEN IDOL, movies like, A BRIEF ENCOUNTER, or good scary movies such as, THE INNOCENTS, or the 1943? DEAD OF NIGHT, or,  the 1963, THE HAUNTING...my list is lengthy!!!  Of course, Citizen Kane, Casa Blanca....but many little gems like THE ENCHANTED COTTAGE....and others....WHITE HEAT....etc...etc...ALL GENRES!

All great films that you list there.  You and I undoubtedly see eye to eye on many films.

Love Willy.

Is there a Runza Hut in your town? Kind of got hooked on them when I was stationed in Omaha.

Shit.
Hope the hell no one got zapped by that. I block a lot of things by default, including frames and redirects, to name a few.

I live in a village 25 miles from York, Nebraska, where I taught English.  Runza just had  some press in today's Omaha World Herald.  They now have 93 restaurants!  They are currently constructing a new headquarters.  DELICIOUS!

When I have my own internet I lock it up pretty tight. Right now I am "stealing" my neighbor's xfinity free wifi allotment using my laptop with an extended range wifi antenna I bought from CCrane. I should probably lock down this laptop better but I just got it and it is my first real windows 10 machine.

I usually browse with my ipad or iphone anyways. I like the windows 10 feature that lets you establish a mobile hotspot.

There is not much I can do with this 2nd gen ipad. Apple stopped the OS updates at IOS 10. Most of the new apps like adblockers and vpn/opendns won't even download from iTunes.

I miss Runzas. I used to have a recipe for the dough out of the world herald. Mine would always turn out a tad sweeter than the real thing. I had to go to a funeral in Iowa a few years back. Had to go eat a Runza and then go see the new Rosenblatt stadium. I spent many nights in the old one.

One of the toughest courses I took at UNO was a Public Relations course taught by a guy named Reilly that was like the chief editor at the World Herald. Never take a course when the textbook is wriiten by the professor.

Reilly, yes.....we all know him.

Wish I could mail you a few runzas!

Just checked out the Classic Movie thread.  If I would start posting, Gravity, I would never get off my computer.  I enjoyed all the comments.....and immediately felt compelled to add to the conversation.  I may decide to give my two cents worth occasionally, but I am afraid of getting hooked!  Ha!

I rip on windows a lot, but they are getting better with their security. They work so hard to collect information that they probably don't want others to get it for free.  ;)

Too late Nebraska. You should have gotten out while you still had a chance. You've already passed the event horizon to the black hole known as BellGab. You're here for life now.  :o    ;)
