So you honestly believe that Russia has invaded Ukraine? And It's our job to stop them? Where is the evidence of a Russian invasion of Ukraine? You are full of shit, just like the American Presstitutes spouting their nightly lies and propaganda. Inciting us to war, just like the War Profiteers at GE and Westinghouse really want... Endless War for Endless Profits. ...

Didn't  you read Major General Smedley Butler's, "War is a Racket?"
What about John Perkins, "Confessions of an Economic Hitman."

You honestly believe the crap they sell us as the truth. Their Endless wars for endless profits. Geez, you're naive.

Where does the author comment on whether it's the west's job to stop Russia?  Obviously nobody is discussing the U.S sending troops to the Ukraine. No serious person anyway.

I opposed the Iraq War and I've written in a number of boards that I feel the U.S military budget is bloated, so we agree on that.

I do however completely disagree with you and the author of that article that Russia hasn't sent troops into Ukraine (and Russia also denies sending the rebels armaments which is completely laughable) and I posted my evidence on that in my previous post.
1.The sudden disapearance of Russian soldiers reported by their parents (obviously the soldiers died fighting in Ukraine.)
2.the existance in Eastern Ukraine of soliders wearing uniforms without military insignia who, when asked, say they're from Russia.  Whether these are Russian soldiers or Russian volunteers who are backed by Putin is, I suppose, up for debate.
3.The turnaround of the military situation in Eastern Ukraine from the rebels being routed to the rebels routing the Ukrainian army.

That is some fine work right there.  Not saying I agree but it's a great pic.

Heavy armored Russian equipment/masked heavily armed soilders with uniformed Russian Co's. Technically an invasion, I would call it 'conducting operations' at the very least. It's it our (US) job to stop them? Yes, if Ukraine asks for help.

One would think. Then again, maybe that is what "THEY" want you to think! Wouldn't Russia, like us rather, use private contractors for that type of action? Maybe not, I guess, if they figure it was a legit part of Russia or that voters voted en masse pro-Russian (odd, even that Scotland vote or the various Quebec votes weren't that one-sided and, yet, those were accepted internationally and domestically. And the Crimean voters overwhelming voted pro-Russia. One would think, looking at UN Charter on self-determination that it might hold, at least a bit, some water.) Granted we don't have any there (at least according to our Press Office and unreturned calls to those "professional security companies") but it is still quite common in other theaters. Of course not in Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa, etc etc. That Georgian Ossetia thing was still a little odd...but, obviously, no Western contractors, or otherwise, there either. I'm sure.
Having said that I'm not pro-Russian and especially not pro-Putin with the mafia and ex-commie connections but also think it is hypocritical to criticize Russian domestic policy (prior to this Ukraine deal) towards Islamic insurgents and radicals (Chechnya etc) or domestic social policy (with regard to homosexuals etc.) I know there is much to be gained (in certain industries and by certain politicians) by a new Cold War (ideally even a hot water via proxy countries like the good ol' days) by both sides but I don't think it is a good thing.

I do think Russia invaded the Ukraine but it has nothing to do with us. Just like ISIS has nothing to do with us. In fact we should pull every American troop from everywhere and let the world deal with their own shit for awhile. Time to let other countries send their young to die we have done enough to fuck this world up!!1

Dark days for Brian Williams, he could lose his job for how badly he warped, and distorted the truth. Fox News got the story and ran with it. Now they are really out to get him.
No... really they are clamoring to give him a job now.

Pale Horse mentioned General Smedley Butler.  Everyone should take time to learn about him and read War is a Racket.

NBC News and Fox News are natural adversaries. So obviously, there's no love lost there. However, NBC News has been called out on the carpet too many times to remember for egregious and dishonest practices. It therefore comes as no surprise that Fox is taking a few jabs.

Hilarous! We help overthrow a democratically elected government (again)... We finance, arm, train and prop-up an unpopular, right-wing government full of Neo-Nazi's... Then demonize Russia for helping it's kindred neighbor.  The Kiev government is slaughtering it's own people for VOTING to leave! That's like us bombing Oregon because it wants to leave the union. Which, of course, we would. (Just try it, "State of Jefferson," and see what happens.)

But hey, whatever it takes to get us to WWIII.. LET"S GO!!!!  Yippie, WAR with Russia, Iran, China... Cant wait to kill some freedom-hating mother fuckers.

It is not OKAY to restart the Cold War. Risking Nuclear war because we want control over the world's energy and banking systems is a dangerous fantasy that we must abandon. PAX Americana is fool's errand. Don't be a fool.

Nuclear War and Clashing Ukraine Narratives

America and Russia have two nearly opposite narratives on Ukraine, which is more an indictment of the U.S. news media which feigns objectivity but disseminates what amounts to propaganda. These divergent narratives are driving the world toward a possible nuclear crisis.

Your assertions have no proof. Where is the source? Where are the photos and satellite videos? Remember, we can clearly photograph the date on a coin from space since 1995.  So if there are a bunch of Russian tanks and thousands of soldiers pouring in from Russia, we would have video evidence to discuss.... Where is it? And lastly, what has the accused said for themselves about "the Invasion."

In every dispute, there are two sides. If you only hear one of them, You really don't have a clue. Listen to both sides, then decide.
Seems pretty simple and juvenile, yet we seem incapable of it.

Brian Williams can win back my support by simply addressing both sides of these issues before it's too late and they have marched us into another fucking WAR.

I never heard of Brian Williams until last week (maybe it's a common type name and didn't register).  Who cares about these so very self-important 'news anchors' - they get paid (way too much) to have gravelly voices, nice hair, earnest looks, and be able to read aloud what someone puts in front of them.  Sometimes they send themselves 'on assignment', where they can pretend to be real reporters.  That's it.

That said, looking back at some of his claims wasn't it clear he was a lying pos all along (I mean more than usual for Big Media)?

Right. They are basically just actors reading Teleprompters. Extremely Well Paid Liars. They literally make millions per year telling us their sweet little lies. Fucking us gently every single night.

Frankly, so what?

I was just a kid when I started getting interested in current events in the US and around the world.  Not politics, just a fascination with other places.

I learned pretty quickly that a 30 or 60 minute 'news' show, which also shared time with sports, weather, commercials, goings on in fake places like Hollywood, only really had time to give a few highlights on a very select (and selected) few news items.  We took the crummy local paper and even those articles (AP, UPI, etc) had more depth and reported events that 'the news' didn't even mention.

I haven't watched 'the news' since, unless I get sucked in from a teaser on something local for the upcoming 11 o'clock news.

The 'network news' is really only good for 2 things:  1) video footage - and even the it's only what they want us to see, and 2) by seeing what is in the 'news', and what is left out, it's not too difficult to see what the narrative Big Media wants to present

By the way, #1 - what does that even mean?  We have 320 million people in this country and only a small percentage watch any 'news'.  They don't trust those people and don't want to be manipulated and lied to.  Of those who do watch, only a percentage watch whoever "#1'' is.  Big deal.

Hell, Noory is the "#1" overnight radio show, and he has what, 600,000 people who listen to at least one segment a night (3 mil cumulative for a week / 5 days?  Yay #1

Frankly, it proves you live in a cozy conservative bubble isolated from reality.  You don't need to watch him, but if you don't know who he is that demonstrates disconnect.

QuoteI was just a kid when I started getting interested in current events in the US and around the world.  Not politics, just a fascination with other places.

But those dispatches from "Harper's Weekly" and "The Saturday Evening Post" only came once a week and candles were real expensive.

So you read the "informed analysis" of the Weekly Standard.

QuoteI haven't watched network news since, unless I get sucked in from a teaser on something local for the upcoming 11 o'clock news.

What network has news on at 11?  You are confusing (conflating?) network broadcast with local stuff.

QuoteBy the way, #1 - what does that even mean?

It means that, up until last week, more people relied on Williams' broadcast for information than other major broadcasts.

QuoteWe have 320 million people in this country and only a small percentage watch any network news.

The rest don't read or watch at all.  They vote for conservatives.

QuoteThey don't trust those people and don't want to be lied to.

Actually, they crave being lied to.  They hang on the word of every "businessman" who will run government "like a business" and promises them "jobs" that "they know how to create".  If only their constituencies were in China, Malaysia, and Indonesia, they'd be telling the truth.

QuoteOf them only a percentage watch whoever "#1'' is.  Big deal.

They don't "cotton to the book learnin', neither."

QuoteHell, Noory is the "#1" overnight radio show, and he has what, 600,000 people who listen to at least one segment a night (3 mil cumulative for a week / 5 days?

Except who's running anything remotely to compete with him (come back, soon Art!) ?  Conflationary apples and oranges.

When Tom Brokow took over the NBC Nightly News it was in third place.  When he left, it was in first, but with far fewer viewers than when he took over.

Well, like I said, Brian and Williams are very common vanilla names, and perhaps the name didn't register.  It's not like I care who the news readers are or what ratings they have.

But let's say my eyeballs never rolled across his name.  That I've never heard of the current news anchor of NBC, or that I don't keep track of the comings and goings of the 'top' anchors at the networks hardly demonstrates 'disconnect' to anything other than network news - I product I don't watch.

I tend to filter out ads, I don't pay much attention to Hollywood, or Vegas, or any number of things I don't give a hoot about.  Oh well.

Wow that's great work. Unfortunatey he said that on his radio show not The Factor. And he also said in the next sentance he was never in the military. You'd know this if you had actually listened to the clip attached to the dailykos page you cut and this paste from.

Nice try though. Keep digging left wing websites, you're bound to find something eventually. Get back to us when you've foind 10 examples with cited references. Run along now.
