Leaving aside farmers and the rest of your conspiracy nonsense, I know this will come as a shock to your "mind" but  there are an awful lot of energy workers, forestry workers and fishers who live in cities.  They have these things you may have heard of called 'cars.'

And?

Williams must have been working on an expose of Wall Street, and the Wall Street security forces are digging up this old story to prevent him from running the anti-Wall Street story.

If Williams defenestrates in the coming weeks, then clearly a Communist cabal has done him in.

pate

apropos of nothing:

I want to apologize for my behaviour in here the other night.  Apparently I got awfully deep in my cups whilst celebrating Ronald Reagan's 114th birthday (You know, the greatest president this country has seen since George Washington {who incidentally served four record-breaking full terms when you count his re-incarnation as George W. Bush} God bless you Ronnie!  Hoist a pint for me up there w/ Maggie (best PM evuh, since Churchill)}

Anyhow, I think the piles of poo everywhere konfused and konfounded me, so I figured it was the BellGab latrine, hence my churching all over the place.  I'll try not to do it again, but no promises...

Carry on....

Or perhaps he was going to expose some secret of ISIS.

Acually, stranger than that, believe it or not. Williams has been going around telling several different version of this lie for years! He even made SURE he was booked on Letterman the exact anniversary of the incident.

How could he be so dimwitted as to not know that the military people involved would eventually get fed up with him going on TV every 15 minutes to tell his lies?

Juan, just because you're obviously an idiot, don't play me for an idiot.  This is at best what the accountants would call as the question of whether someone is self employed or a contracted employee.  Clear Channel (or whatever they are called now) signed his contract and they pay his checks and so, yes, they are indeed his employer.
Well, you've now branded yourself.

Word is 6th months without pay. So for a guy making $$ some extra time to have fun and wait for things to blow-over and either get his job back, go somewhere else, or simply retire with his millions and have fun. Maybe even this nest tax-year get in a lower income tax bracket due to that 6mths of no pay. Or, better yet, become bitter and expose the other frauds in the network, anchors, and behind-the-scenes antics of the "news industry"!

What?! NBC is a pillar of truth, integrity, and objectivity!

It would be great if he became the next Bernie Goldberg, but I don't see that happening. If he's out for 6mo, he'll probably wind up on MsNBC down the road, or hosting Meet the dePressed.

Seems like this 6 month suspension will lead to a resignation by Williams, more sooner than later. And Williams endless drive to become a bigger celebrity/journalist than he is will be his undoing. Pathological hubris. It will be interesting to see how he tries to redeem himself in the coming years. He has a lot of jet set pals in the corridors of power of NYC-DC, so I don't think he's going to vanish into obscurity.

Brian Williams departure really is irrelevent. There's no difference between ABC CBS NBC.

What's really going to devastate the left is John Stewerts departure. Where will the under 40 left get their news now? SNL is only once a week. MTV news is gone. How are these people supposed to inform themselves during their Xbox binges? It really is infuriating! Obama should mandate Stewert stay out the air.

People who watch the Daily show were the most informed of current events, while the people who watched Fox were the least.

Fox News dedicated over 100 segments to the lie that Obama ordered a "stand down" in Benghazi. It embraced birtherism. It's entire years-long campaign against ACORN was based on a lie. If fakes its graphs to mislead its viewers with its own patented brand of math. It photoshops people's faces to make them look more haggard. It puts a D behind the names of Republicans who are unpopular or who have screwed up.

And yet about things that actually really matter - the non-responding economy, whether a zillion poor illiterate immigrants (many who are criminals, or are carrying diseases we long ago eradicated here) pouring across our borders is good or bad for the country, 'climate change', Obama's grossly incompetent or traitorous (pick one) foreign policy, the non-reporting on the ultimate consequences of his Himalayan pile of debt, reporting on his usurpation of power, the 'success' of ObamaCare, the non-reporting on his destruction and 'fundamental change' on everything he can wrap his tentacles around - on and on and on and on - everything the mainstream says about any of this is all a pack of lies.

I stand corrected. With overwhelming evidence like that I feel so much less informed of current events now.  :(

I agree it was unfair to ask someone who wants to hold the most powerful office in the world, to provide proof of their US citizenship and birth location. It's just the stupid Constitution that requires it, who follows that silly document anymore. Fortunately Obama only took until 2011 to comply, 3 years after he was 1st elected.

Everyone knows Benghazi was just a "false flag" made up by right wingers. Those people didn't really die. The fact numerous US soldiers who were minutes have stated they were ordered to "stand down" was an obvious lie. It must have taken 8 hours to assist because they were watching the Grammys. Who couldn't figure out it really was a spontaneous protest of gentle giants fueled by a youtube video that lead to the attack as Obama claimed for months. I mean duh, The fact it was 911 was purely "coincidence". Yep, Benghazi never happened at all, it was another right wing lie, like Iraq's WMD's.

And now the Daily Show is ending, and there will be no one to inform the public of the truth. Such a miscarriage of justice.

Yes, things are so bad that Republicans are focused on banning types of clothing (Oklahoma and Montana), banning abortion (federal) and blocking gay rights (Alabama and Kansas).

I wonder what the 'party of small government' will get up to next.

The RINO, Establishment, Globalist, in-the-pocket-of-the-Chamber-of-Crony-Capitalism Republicans, and that part of the party that won't leave people alone any more than the D's do, also suck.

Of the Republican politicians (not the base, not the people who vote for them), a minority are Conservatives and even most of them are wrong on certain issues.

Thanks for posting that link, interesting.

But let's compare apples to apples, or in this case road apples to road apples.  The proper comparison would be Network Evening News (38%) vs Fox (35%) vs  Local TV News (35%).  The 3% difference is probably within the margin of error, even if we agree the stated answers to the quiz are correct.

The evening news programs are all pretty low, which was my point up-thread about not bothering with the evening news at all, and not caring who the various anchors are.  Watching that stuff is mostly a waste of time .

It makes sense that those who seek out a comedy show based on current political events are more likely to be already up to speed on the subject, vs those who sit thru 20 minutes of 'news' then watch MASH reruns.  A better comparison for the Daily Show (54%) is probably something like Rush Limbaugh (50%), again likely within the margin of error.  I don't think either of those 2 shows, or the other shows listed, spend much time on who is running GM or who the governors of the various states are, or some of the other quiz questions.

Some of the questions are open to interpretation.  After Chief Justice John Roberts turned the US Constitution inside-out and backwards in order to find ObamaCare to be 'Constitutional', I wouldn't say he's 'Conservative', and would have gotten that question 'wrong'.  Was 'sellout' one of the choices there?, I'll have to take the quiz

Still going with this? When in doubt, make up your own stats. The fact remains, people who watch Fox News are the least informed of everyone surveyed. They're less informed than people who watch no news at all. Limbaugh is, for all intents and purposes, the same as Fox. They get their talking points from the same think tank talking point mill, and the same talking points and catch phrases filter through all of right-wing media daily (eg: "ticking tax bomb").

I don't know what you mean there, but network news programs have about 30 million viewers nightly. Cable gets 1-3 million viewers on their most popular shows, tops.

I mean when the people getting their info from the evening 'news' (Network, Fox, or Local) score in the 35-38% range - on the quiz the stats in the article and the accompanying tables were based on - those viewers are clearly not really being informed when they watch.

Regardless of how many are watching.  Maybe that explains the piss poor politicians we elect in both parties.

No more Colbert Show, Daily Show soon to be gone.  Guess I'll have to watch Fox News for a good laugh and fake news.

Don't know about Oklahoma or the Federal Republicans, but the guy in Montana and Sam Brownback are hated by the Chamber of Commerce.

At least you'll get a laugh. More than I ever got from the daily show. Red Eye used to be great, then Bill Schultz left and it got kinda vanilla. He was a lib too, but pretty funny.

Hopefully women's overalls and men's skinny jeans.

Abortion will never be banned. If need be California will build high speed rail to every state simply to ship people in for abortions.

Then you're just making assumptions based on those numbers. I like the part about correctly interpreting who is and isn't a RINO though. That's relevant to anyone outside of blog comments.

Yeah, I miss Bill. He asked for too much $$$, and that was that. Although, JoNo is getting much better, and an extra bonus is she is very easy on the eyes.

No problem with political satire and making fun of our noble saviors. It should be done more. But as with all mainstream political satire, it only takes 2min to figure out the only polyocal folk they make fun of are the right. SNL, Comedy Channel. Makes no difference. Sad part is half the country actually thinks this satire is reality.

I will miss Stewet & Colbert. And the 2 minutes of my life I spent watching them.
