Bad  kimchee?  OD'd on crack?  Took a 9mm in the back of the head?  On a beach in Provence?  Some NK generals just made a somewhat conciliatory trip to SK too.

The South Korean Minister of Defence informed the National Assembly yesterday that the North is preparing for a war in 2015 with the aim of reunifying the country.  Not so sure that the trip you cite was truly conciliatory.

Little fatty is probably pigging out on puppies stuffed with rice.

That's a real thing.

I have the recipe.

Essentially you need a puppy, some rice, and a stick.

I use a broad definition; any visit by North Korean military to the South that doesn't result in casualties is conciliatory.

He's putting out feelers for 2016 for the Democrat party. Unfortunately despite being a communist dictator he's not leftwing enough for MsNBC, CNN, NYTimes.

You can, and the puppy can be any breed; though I believe the cuter the puppy the tastier the meat.

Only thing that is insisted upon is a nice swishy stick.

So, feed the puppy chock full of dry rice. This will expand the rice when it meets and absorbs the gastric juices. Once the puppy is fit to burst with the expanding rice you'll want to tie its legs together and hang it from your Beatin' Hook.

You really want the meat to be tender, so you need to make the beating to death of the puppy a long, drawn out affair. This releases adrenaline which really makes the puppy meat nice and tender.

Amateurs and noobs will just conk the puppy on the head and kill it outright, long before it has time to die terrified and screaming.

A whippy stick will have the effect of slowly killing the animal, guaranteeing the most tender meat possible.  That's the pro tip.

Then you'll want to bake that puppy at about 350 for an hour or so, depending on how meaty that little fella is.

Cut open at stomach to serve, and rice will spill out onto the serving tray to add aesthetic value to the dish.

Shocking display of cultural insensitivity.

Shocking display of cultural insensitivity.

speaking of...

...the 2002 World Cup was held in Japan and South Korea, and as usual many thousands of Westerners were booked to attend the games.

Now, Korea... well, you see they eat dogs in Korea. And it was pointed out to them that, you know, serving dogs to Europeans probably wouldn't go down all that well, owing to those cultural sensitivities we were just talking about there.

The government and food industry took action, of course, as you would expect, before Johnny Foreigner descended on the Land of the Lotus Blossom, or whatever the fuck they call themselves... but not in the way you might think.

Logic would dictate that the restaurants just remove puppy from the menu, hide their Beatin' Hooks in the back room, and instead just offer Cheeseburgers and, for the French, Horse.

But no.

The Koreans instead decided they could convert the Westerners to simply accepting dog as a viable foodstuff, negating hundreds of years of Western repugnance at the thought of eating a man's best friend, via the cunning use of a poster and ad campaign.

"Hey! Round Eye! Eat Dog! It's Fucking Great!"

Didn't work.

Did NOT work.

I recall some news articles (mainly tabloid) and protests over it back then. I abhor the practice of dog eating, especially though in the cruel way they do it (the beating part is accurate, the crazy orientals think this makes the meat more tender.) It goes on beyond just the Koreans. The Chinese are a big cause of all the threatened and endangered animals, and poaching, because they have weird, backward beliefs about using animal parts for things like "E.D." problems or virility.

Having said that, in theory dogs would be perfect food item. Even easier than sheep because they can obey commands. So just say "here Rover" and you have your dinner.

I prefer my vegetables when they've only been processed through one animal.  Not too keen on carnivore meat.

At a night market in Guiling, I had the opportunity to see people purchasing local live wildlife for dinner - owls, salamanders, cats, rats, any bird that could be caught, you name it.

Kelt

As a rule of thumb I won't eat any animal that slithers, scuttles, scampers, or swims. The Four S's.

Slithering animals... your snakes, worms, eels, that sort of thing.

Scuttling animals... crabs, spiders, lobster, insects, etc.

Scampering animals... rats, mice, ferrets, weasels... plague carriers, essentially.

Swimming animals... eels again, squid, octopus, rays, and the like.

Exception being fish like salmon or nice tuna steak.

I'll pretty much eat any mammal that doesn't necessarily fit into the 4S criteria, so puppies, cat, horse, maybe human in an shtf situation... all good.

Uncle Duke

Couple points about Kim:

1) He did not make an appearance at a recent, huge rally honoring NK athletes from the Asian Games.  Noteworthy considering what a sports fan he is.

2) Last week, his name did not appear in an official letter from the NK government to the PRC in recognition of China's national day.

I was in SK in 1987, there was a push on by the SK government to keep eating dog on the down low during the 1988 Soeul Olympics.  I remember how embarrassed my MoD host was when I asked about a poster in a train station advising the locals against eating dog during the Games.

Would be funny if you could train a sheep to herd them.

Cool story bro.  Reminds me of something FtF would post.

Even if (snort) it is true, it simply means that they need a better ad agency.  My campaign slogan would have been:

"DOG!  It tastes better than pussy!  Um, cat!"

Humans will eat anything.

Yet most exhibit an illogical self righteous streak when confronted with the mere suggestion of cannibalism for a change of pace to go with that marvelous 1988 Cabernet Franc you found (the bottle amazingly secreted within the dung encrusted French Quarter convenience store at the corner of St. Philip and North Rampart.)

The hypocrisy is stunning in its depth and laughable ... on its surface.

Which is more honorable?  Consuming a puppy? (Cherry Kool-Aid with that?)

Or consuming your enemy? (with a black olive haloed Cabernet Franc ...)

Given the topic, can you think of anyone more deserving to be prepared as pulled long pig (no offense, Digi) than this unstable Kim Jung Un?

Logic is good for the palate, and it brings many gifts to the kitchen table.

And there, my f(r)iends, you will see a beating that is always justified in the end, then it's straight away to the coven oven.

Piece on earth was all it bled.

Go ahead and eat a neighbor
Go ahead and stew a friend
Do it in the name of starving
You'll be justified in the end
There won't be dinner bells ringing
Come lunch time today
On a bloody kitchen counter top
One steel cleaver chops away

(Perhaps Dennis Rodman held a private BBQ on his most recent visit.  If you know what I mean. The tabloids showed "Den Den" as quite a bit heavier upon his return to the states.)

Didn't show today for the big annual commemoration of the founding of the Korean Workers Party by Grampa Sung.
