I just know what's been reported. But nothing says you have to believe what's reported or the source, in this case the State Dept.

"The original pair of messages from Froman were given the lowest classification stamp, "Confidential," about a year ago when they were released. Notations indicate the information was classified because it came from a foreign government or pertained to diplomatic exchanges."

"State Department spokesman John Kirby stressed that the classificationâ€"an 'upgrade' in State parlanceâ€"did not address the issue of whether the information in the message should have been treated as classified when it was sent."

Exactly. It is EXTREMELY rare that information is retroactively classified. I dealt with classified for more years than I care to remember. Material is classified due to the nature of the information or its source.

She broke the law - the information she says was retroactively classified as Top Secret and SAP?  Bullshit. Something is either TS or it is not.

Eh, probably relevant to yoga pants and weddings.

Global warming...which most people here don't even believe is real, no matter how classified anyone says it is.

I saw that item. More of the same. Not classified at the time but classified retroactively. Clearly, she shouldn't have forwarded the email. No question. You can see the same problematic behavior in the corporate world as well. People have trouble keeping private info private when it's so easy to share it.
But she wasn't some low level employee or even someone new to the government but the HEAD of an agency when she forwarded emails, set up private server, used multiple devices (and lied about it,) and accepted foreign money into her private Foundation. For a Secretary of State to claim she didn't understand about technology or classification or tell the American people and media a known lie (while discussing the real cause for an ambassador's death in her private emails at the same time?!) So at best she is highly incompetent and "misremembers." That is the only argument Hillary supporters have because the only other option is that she is criminal, corrupt, and a liar.

Again, it's the same issue as before. If the people who sent the email didn't mark it as classified but should have, they are at fault. If it was marked as classified and Hillary passed it on anyway, that's on her.

One aspect I don't see discussed much is that some government agencies were sending sensitive, if not classified, info to a server that anyone could see was not a government server. That's a problem.

Don't worry she can just hit the mistranslated "reset button"- which was NOT EVEN WRITTEN IN CYRILLIC. So incompetent.

Yeah, though it is tough to go against the HEAD of the agency you work for on that when says "this is my email address." Even Obama, who apparently set up a fake email to communicate with her, did it? I need to source that though. Anybody can tell right on the email that it is not an official government email address so it is weird that nobody noticed or pointed it out. No wonder Clinton and Podesta fell for a phishing attack (in Hillary's case it was a porn link she clicked on) if they are that inept. It was discussed in some of the Podesta emails but I think only after it started to become a political concern.

You made the claim it wasn't classified at the time. I proved you had no clue what you were talking about.

When you are given a security clearance you are trained to recognize what types of information are classified and at what level. The markings are inconsequential. It is a law that you attend your initial and annual security training. The State Department cannot even provide a copy of her inbrief forms.

Ask your last question to Obama. He sent at least 18 emails to at least two of her aliases. You would think that emails between the POTUS and the SOS just MIGHT contain classified information.

Of course he lied stating he didn't know about her private server until it came out in the news.

Now we now that the Secret Service got involved in investigating hacking attempts and in helping to administer the server.

This is the corruption you want to remain in power.

It's very possible Susan Rice lied but I can't say I know that. They very clumsily went with the most convenient explanation for the attack, then had to correct it.

As for setting up and using the server, she trusted people who told her it was okay and she should have known better than to trust them. She tends to be cautious but she wasn't in that case.

You haven't proven anything, sorry. You can show three different people with security clearances any given document and ask whether it should be classified and at what level. You are likely to get three different answers. In many cases, the judgment is very subjective. The big mistake was the server since it was not as secure as the proper State Dept server.

I don't get how you expect to be taken seriously about anything involving anything serious. Is it because most people are stupid? Because that would make sense, but only that.

No you dip. I let you prove it with the quote you put in your own post.

She didn't set up that server for convenience and she didn't set it up to leak secrets to a foreign power. She set it up for one reason. To hide her activities from anyone else inside the government.

She did not want her activities to be subject to FOIA and she violated the Federal Records act irregardless if classified information was transmitted. If she had pure intent she would have turned over the contents of the server on the day she left office. She knowingly broke numerous laws.

I quoted a news article which quoted the State Dept. I said you could disagree with them and you have. So take it up with them, not an anonymous poster on BellGab, meaning me.

You asserted the information was not classified at the time. The article you posted later made no such claim. You are typing now to see your own words in print.

"The original pair of messages from Froman were given the lowest classification stamp, "Confidential," about a year ago when they were released." Clearly, before a year ago, they were not stamped "Confidential." But maybe you or someone else knew that they were. Terrific, but I as a BellGab poster stand by my assertion which is based on a news article which is fairly well worded, IMO.

Once again 3.14, the stamp does not make it classified. It marks it as classified. If it was classified because it came from a foreign source, it was classified on the day it was typed, whether or not it was marked.

Dem elector will not vote for Clinton...

I've heard in some states like California Bernie is on the ballot as a "write in," I guess there you need to be approved to be a viable write-in. Hopefully the Sanders supporters who turn up to vote will write him in. Ideally though they stay home.

I know it would never make a bit of difference, but still interesting someone would have the courage to step forward on principal.

Oh, Bernie got paid off and left but there are some of his supporters who are initiating this effort apparently. He skipped the scene but some of his adherents are still going for it, especially after it came out that the DNC/Clintons stole the nomination or at least were actively in cahoots together against him.

It's just a pointless point. Classifications exist for a reason. The stamp is a necessary part of that system. You either follow the system or you don't. This includes the sender and the recipient. That's as much as I'm going to beat this dying horse.
