5.  November 15th, Art posted on BellGab, asking his fans to stop the #freeartbell assault on SiriusXM's facebook page.  Art's post here included the words:  "This will only make matters worse…it will most likely just piss them off."

Based on the above,  it definitely seems to me that between November 13th and November 15th there were communications between Art's legal counsel and SiriusXM.   My best guess is that Art asked for the spamming of SiriusXM's facebook page to stop as a show of his good faith negotiating, and probably at SiriusXM's request.   Logic tells me, (and some will certainly disagree), that IF Art's legal counsel contacted SiriusXM, and all he got back from them was "NO!", Art Bell would not give a flying flip if everybody on the planet spammed SiriusXM's facebook page and brought it to its knees never to return.   His request that we stop is a good sign.

Furthermore, I completely agree with the above.  A very astute assessment.  Bravo.

Excellent assessment, LV, based upon what is known.
Haha, I'm so glad you're still here.  I love your caveat "based upon what is known."  It brings to mind the immortal words of Donald Rumsfeld:

"Now what is the message there? The message is that there are no "knowns." There are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say there are things that we now know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we do not know we don't know. So when we do the best we can and we pull all this information together, and we then say well that's basically what we see as the situation, that is really only the known knowns and the known unknowns. And each year, we discover a few more of those unknown unknowns."

Now, those are words to live by!  :D

Just keep in mind the sage words of Donald Rumsfeld above, and all will be well.  ;)

The only thing that's missing from the summary, which I've repeatedly mentioned, is that #freeartbell originated *from* Art on the podcast, starting at the 53:48 mark, when asked what "we common folk" can do to help him. Art's response: "It's a good question. I'm not sure what that would be. I guess, I don't know, maybe go to Sirius and hold up signs that say 'Free Art Bell'?"

The tone of his response was humorous and I'm pretty sure it was an off-the-cuff, unpremeditated response. Certainly, I don't think he anticipated what it would turn into. Nevertheless, that was where it started. Just for the record.

Could anybody please send my by private message (here is fine as well, however, I may miss it in the thread next time I'm online, thus won't see it). I am wondering which username George Noory uses when he comes on here? Thanks

Not sure if Art's plea to stop was a Sirius request. I don't believe that enough time has lapse since Art retained the services of a legal "team" to have gathered all their evidence and put together their strategy to fight this.

I believe that the stop notice was probably part of the brain storming. The cease and desist is either a show of good faith prior to going into negotiation or litigation, a separation of responsibility or it's simply a minimization of potential harm that it could have caused to the case.

In short I don't believe actual negotiations with Sirius have begun yet. These things take time.

Lonevoice: very awesome!

A new thread should be started:

The Return Of Art Bell

I think he will return to have his own online streaming "radio" show, via his website.  However, the problem with this is that his website won't support that many people all wanting to be on the site at the same time:  it will crash.  He'll likely end up having to go the podcast route, where the show is recorded live, but not streamed live, and then later posted onto his website.  The way the Bellgab podcast do theirs.  I see that as the only way around the bandwidth issues that are sure to crop up.

Do you guys think Art will keep us apprised of the negotiations?  Or, if he's not able to give us a progress report, do you at least think he'll come back with the final thumbs up or thumbs down?

And, any idea how long these things usually take?
Hi Maren,

I dont think hell give us an update on his legal proceedings as it is wise to not do so, but i assume he will pop in here every once in a while to say hello and let us know hes fighting the good fight. Id be happy with that. Just as long as he doesnt outright disappear.

It could be all of the above.
Let's hope that Art has excellent legal counsel; I'm sure that he does. I live with a lawyer, and I'm constantly told that there are ARMIES of incompetent, greedy, corrupt attorneys who will take money from the client and do absolutely nothing. I'm assuming that the firm he has retained are excellent in their field, excellent litigators, and probably had requested him to send a message to us to protect his case, based on a whole different realm of reasons.

That Rumsfeld quote made my brain fizz up.  I guess its main point is:  "Beware of the unknowns, for they may exist and botch up the works."

................IMO we need to keep up the #FREEARTBELL movement. If we stop it makes for a potential argument that Art led and, or, coordinated it. We are his fan base NOT his army. Let's keep the heat on Sirius and show them what a REAL public fan base push looks like. Not a phony campaign of a handful of employees as others have been known to do.

I totally agree, and what you said is spot on!!!!  I think Art was telling us to STOP harrassing SiriusXm, which I agree with. But it looks like Art's fans are lukewarm when we all suddenly stop because Art said so. What kind of message does that give to potential investors/business interests regarding the will and resolve of his fans?  It says we are fickle with no backbone or true passion for the man!! NOT GOOD! I say commence with the   "Please Help To #FreeArtBell"  Movement!!!!!!!!!!

If I might be so bold, SaucyRossy has the video talent needed to make a great viral video.  I would have mentioned it in the statement, but it was best not to include someone else's name, especially without having consulted them first.

I agree. He has more power than the lawyers in favorably resolving this crisis for Art and us fans.

Yes, it's a request I'll honor. It might have been a little embarassing for him, but we're a passionate bunch. Hopefully it made him realize his base is still there and going strong. And I hope it hardens his resolve to try everything he can to get back on the air.
