Ok so I deleted the video.

I am not going to go over board any more on this stuff. If art works it out, then great. If free art didn't work then at least we tried.

At this point, after all this drama, I don't know what will happen next but I wish Art the best. I'm taking a break from things for awhile (I'll still be on the board but won't be posting as much)

If it's for the best, then it's for the best.

However, I'd just like to say that you're a nice guy with a lot of talent. Please keep posting.

Some of us may be campaigning for something that Art may not want.  I love Art, but he's on the fence regarding just about everything.  "Free Art" is a lot of fun but it may not be rooted in reality as Art may not care about the NC clause.

Fair enough, however when he communicated that he'd like to be on the air right now if he could, it sounded sincere to me so I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt.

IT'S OVER WHEN WE SAY IT'S OVER

Oh man, any breaking bad reference will have me laughing so hard. I love that show and Saul.

Yeah. I think Art wants to stay retired.
He was not orginally going to fight his NC. He stated he was going to honor it.
Then he changed his mind. Now it seems like he is back on the fence.

All i know is George SUCKS

I find it fascinating how many people immediately took, "please stop" as "I'm not fighting anymore." I think he wants to show SiriusXM that he is trying to be mature about the process, and if he didn't speak out and ask us to cease the campaign, they'd probably try to accuse him of bullying the company into releasing him from his non-compete clause by sicking a bunch of rabid fans onto them.

Without being involved in the process, I imagine what is happening is that he and his legal council are currently negotiating with SiriusXM to either put him back on the air with streaming authorized, or release him from the NC clause. If these negotiations fail, then I believe that we may see an announcement about a pending lawsuit against SiriusXM regarding releasing him from his contract.

Bottom line: I think that this is far from over, and I think some people are losing hope too quickly on the matter.

Well, #freeartbell was worth a try. I'm tired of the waffling at this point, so wake me when it's over.

If all turns out that siriusxm pushes Art away from doing a show at all, I say gather Arts Knights and minions, its time to put the corporate bullies in their place!

Art has asked his fans to stop, but it is a temporary stop IMO. The man is near 70 years old, and I for one will not sit idly by, and watch a bunch of overpaid suits dictate what I can listen to. I sure hope sirius realizes what kind of sleeping giant they are poking by messing with Art Bells fans.

RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!

Art was the catalyst.

On MV's podcast, when asked what "we common folk" could do, Art answered to the effect of, "I'm not sure, except maybe go to the Sirius offices holding up 'Free Art Bell' signs."

I immediately tweeted and FB'd #freeartbell and then when I got in to talk to him at the end of the podcast, mentioned that I had it out there.

Jen I think you were out of the gate at the same time with the first #freeartbell banner.

But it doesn't really matter. Art inspired it, and now he's asked us to stop.

I do NOT believe it means he's giving up or that he's changed his mind. On the contrary I am convinced he is still determined to fight. At the very least, I sure as hell *hope* he is, and that calling off the fan attack is now in the best interests of what he and his legal team are now working on. (Everyone seems to skip over the key phrase, "It will only make matters worse"...that to me indicates his legal campaign is ongoing.)

Regardless, I absolutely believe our voices were heard. How could they not have been?

In any case, for me, as much as I want Art back on the air in some form or fashion, it's less about that and more about the principle that he does not deserve to be stuck in an unfair contract. I hope once he IS freed (and I'm certain he will be) that he starts his streaming show at some point. But if he doesn't, so be it. At least he'll have the *freedom* to do so.

Which to me is the whole point.

I have lived on this forum every free moment for the last 2 weeks and wanted to express my gratitude to the members.  I looked forward to many of your posts and began to recognize many of the regular contributors.

I hope that Art gets what he wants and win or lose I will remember the time I fought along side so many in an effort to save my hero and I hope to be a member of this community for many years to come.

This is why we can't have ANYTHING NICE AROUND HERE!!!  >:(

Well I guess #freeartbell did it's job.  Some people will whine about it and call it immature but it made an impact it did.  If you look at things over the last few days the movement started small and then got big enough to be noticed online before Art himself was touched and encouraged it... and then things quickly got out of hand.  The message was sent but after a few days there were some actions that could be viewed as harassment.  I'm pretty sure more than a couple people may have taken it over the line.

Now what have we learned?  We have proven to Art that he hasn't destroyed his fan base.  We have proven to Art that he has the support should he fight the NC.  We've made it clear to Sirius that we are serious... (ahhh that joke never gets old right?)  but really the MAIN THING is we let Art know how much he is loved here.  I was really bothered when some of his posts lead me to believe that certain "negative waves" had possibly come upon the man from this very forum.

So... fucking stop it with the negative waves people!  That bridge WILL be there.

Hey Rumplestilsken you can wake up now, Art came out of retirement, and got to host the first EXTRA-Terestrial radio program from the moon, but then the moon dust or the mooninites got him don't remember, and after just 2 hours he had to retire.  See ya in another 100 years!

If you believe Art has retained legal representation, and I do, then any statement from him regarding this matter is being released on advice from legal counsel. It probably means they have, or are very near to speaking with Sirius, and don't want this campaign to become any type of issue.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. I think the other posters were absolutely right when they said that it's all in the hands of lawyers now. Anything further is just going to look like wanton bullying. We're Art Bell fans, and we're better than that.

Truthfully, I've had a lot of fun with the #FreeArtBell stuff. I've been going through some major writers' block, and I thoroughly enjoyed the chance to produce little fits of creativity. Not only that, but I was able to interact with forum members; I'm usually much too shy for very much communication.

Anyway, nothing's stopping us from having good conversations. That's probably where we should stay for a while.

People are read WAAAAY too much into Art's message.

His lawyer has likely given him some very sound advice... CALL OFF THE HOUNDS.

If he is seen to be leading and/or supporting an army of attacks on Sirius, then they WOULD Have a counter-suit and the very simple lawsuit to get him out of the non-compete becomes MUCH more complex.

It is safe to say he wants out of the non-compete and thousands of people have made their voices heard to Sirius.

Now it is time to let the lawyers do their thing.
