Well I guess #freeartbell did it's job.  Some people will whine about it and call it immature but it made an impact it did.  If you look at things over the last few days the movement started small and then got big enough to be noticed online before Art himself was touched and encouraged it... and then things quickly got out of hand.  The message was sent but after a few days there were some actions that could be viewed as harassment.  I'm pretty sure more than a couple people may have taken it over the line. 

Now what have we learned?  We have proven to Art that he hasn't destroyed his fan base.  We have proven to Art that he has the support should he fight the NC.  We've made it clear to Sirius that we are serious... (ahhh that joke never gets old right?)  but really the MAIN THING is we let Art know how much he is loved here.  I was really bothered when some of his posts lead me to believe that certain "negative waves" had possibly come upon the man from this very forum.

So... fucking stop it with the negative waves people!  That bridge WILL be there.

Regardless, I absolutely believe our voices were heard. How could they not have been?

I agree. It could be that Sirius asked Art to "call off the dogs (dogs in a good way as protectors and guardians)" because you were heard loud and clear and it bothered them so much they couldn't think. I can't imagine why else people voicing their opinion would cause harm to Art's effort. We will see if peace and good will is really what Sirius wants.

Thanks Art, I was getting a bit obsessed about the whole thing. Spent all day everyday checking and posting thinking about how evil SXM is since C2C popped up. So many people including you I guess still do not understand the difference of your deal with SXM and Premiers. If I am wrong please explain. Don't Premier pay to be on SXM? If so that is very different than you just using their equipment to broadcast free from home. Anyhow  if you want it stopped. I'm stopping.  To be honest I have a hunch your tired. Had enough. And aren't sure you even want to do it anymore. Maybe it was romanticizing the old days and thinking wouldn't it be great again if...stop!! And it was not. The time has passed and its time to hang up the microphone.  So why let all these people think Ill be back if they fight. In my heart I don't think you want the NC dropped. Gives you plausible denial. Its Ok Art. I love you and respect you anyhow for all you gave. 10 years later is a lot when your going from 60-70. But part of me hopes I'm wrong and you fight and win and give us a few years of wonderful shows. Either way I am done. Whatever happens will happen. Here is the bottom line, this is a job I took only because of my love of Radio, not for the money,
heck 75K is not ever going to make me rich and if Sirius does not want me they sure will not take
me because their Web Site is messed up, it will most likely just piss them off. That does not change
the love I fell for all of you for trying.

I still feel I was right in my decision to halt what I felt had no real way forward and would make the
same decision again today, I only took that decision after receiving a no to any further remedy.

Truly I do not understand why they would say no to me wanting a way to stream, then turn around and
replace me with Coast which is doing exactly what I wanted to do, maybe they we just pissed. Either way
thank you for what you are trying to to, I love you all,  but please stop.

I find it fascinating how many people immediately took, "please stop" as "I'm not fighting anymore." I think he wants to show SiriusXM that he is trying to be mature about the process, and if he didn't speak out and ask us to cease the campaign, they'd probably try to accuse him of bullying the company into releasing him from his non-compete clause by sicking a bunch of rabid fans onto them.

Without being involved in the process, I imagine what is happening is that he and his legal council are currently negotiating with SiriusXM to either put him back on the air with streaming authorized, or release him from the NC clause. If these negotiations fail, then I believe that we may see an announcement about a pending lawsuit against SiriusXM regarding releasing him from his contract.

Bottom line: I think that this is far from over, and I think some people are losing hope too quickly on the matter.

Agree completely.  Whether in negotiation or preparing for a solution in the courts,  pissing in the other guy's cornflakes, especially when he's in the catbird seat, is at best counter-productive.  I think the fact Art asked for a stop in the on-slaught is a sign he wants to get this resolved.  One step at a time. Whether it gets resolved, or if he does another show even if it does, is TBD.
