I had to work with that dude overnights at a Truck stop Hardee's for like 4 months. He was in back making all the sandwiches and I ran the register and cleaned the lobby, made the fries, stocked the soda cups, etc. he'd always take too long and talk shit about the customers within ear shot. He'd piss off a lot of big burly truck drivers by saying stupid shit like "Why do they want that?" and "Can't they just get it like it is on the menu?" He would always get frustrated with my humor and complained to the boss that he never knew when I was joking or not. Eventually they fired him.

Did he carry on and on about Tiffany too?

Sorry, did you answer the second part of my question?  Did Oates say anything about Art, their differences, or George's position relative to same?

I don't recall saying George was an angel, in fact I don't recall even saying I thought he could hold a candle to Art when it came to conducting an interview.  I have said before I believe he prepares poorly for his show, and generally just goes through the motions.  (I proposed a drinking game to George btw, one shot for everytime he says "of course", but realized I could never afford to play my own game.)  He's not as talented as Art behind a mike, but few people are.  And like you, I wouldn't pay for his program.  But that said, it's tough being Gene Bartow.

My point was many of those who think I (and others apparently) am (are) showing disrespect for Art are the same ones making childish comments and posting vulgar photoshops about a guy who is just as much a human being as Art Bell, you, or me.  I haven't said anything here about either men I wouldn't say to their face.

I didn't listen to Oates. I wasn't about to, so I can't tell you what he said. I DID pay for Noory, I was a coast insider/streamlink member since it was created and dropped it because of the Oates interview. I am not one of the people who posted vulgar photoshops or reveled in disrespect and outright slander. I was, for that period, his most vocal and ardent supporter because I didn't think he was getting a fair shake. Well, here I am, telling you that you that you're being harsh.

Here we are again scarcely a month later and quite a few are here after Art. The theories run rampant, the accusations dripping with bullshit are being thrown, all while Art explains and reexplains every possible detail of what happened and why. It's an airtight explanation, he's not copping out, he's not trying to quit, he's not pulling a fast one. It is exactly as it appears, and SiriusXM wouldn't give the reliability that its customers deserved so Art upped the ante and lost by offering a solution that they didn't take. He offered another one, and they're silent on it. Seems pretty friggen' straightforward to me.

Yet there are people here that apparently don't want to give the few more days needed to know if this a yes or a no. Rather, it's just mudslinging, theories, repeat questions that were already answered, and general bullshit. God damn, let's let it play out before we stroke out and start throwing tomatoes.

I wish art would just try to get out of nc. I mean they are pretty hard to enforce generally.
What's the worse that could happen? He loses and is in same boat.

Oh well.  Cheer up, at least we'll ALWAYS have Jorch!  Right, SciFi?

Falkie:
Your points are well taken. Perhaps I am generalizing, but I had issues with the app too. I signed on to Sirius Internet streaming only to hear Art, so I didn't have any prior experience. Anyway, I deleted the app from my iPad and iPhone, then downloaded it again and it has been fine since. I have rural Florida DSL with a crap router - so the entire Internet ISP goes down at least once every few days. I'm not making excuses for Sirius, just saying that my experience has been pretty good overall. Also, I called and cancelled my subscription. It runs through the 12th...so if Art announces a comeback in the next 2 days, I'll happily re-subscribe.

... I am sure there are many meetings going on about this.  Legal, programming, customer service and technical are all involved in this project...
You are right, except these meetings already happened. By Art's own admission, multiple meetings were held, beginning on his THIRD day of employment.  And those meetings cost Sirius money.  Far before Art had established himself on SXM, before any kind of revenue stream could be realized, he started dragging them into meetings, complaining about their technology, and generally making himself very high maintenance.

In his first week working for them.

I wish I could be listening to Art on the radio right now, but I can't say I have a great deal of sympathy for him at the moment.  I have read all of his messages here, and am glad he is keeping us up to date, but I just don't understand why he did what he did, seemingly without any kind of plan at all.

I just don't get it.

It's over peeps. Arts riding off into the sunset.70 is just really an age art needs to take it easy at.
If he does anything at that age it should be guest hosting.

This is too funny. My mother is 73, she could run circles around Usain Bolt. It's really only over when you're dead.

F it. I'm just gonna watch football.
I would like to know if Art could buy out the 2 year non-compete

Oh yeah, for decades. Can you imagine 30 years into this contract with a 93-year-old George still broadcasting?

Saints blowout .

Doing a FREE podcast does not violate a NC agreement. Doing terrestrial does.
I doubt his contract specifically says ¨no podcasts.¨ Especially if he isn't receiving a dime for it (ie NO C. Crane)
I really think Art just wants to retire for good this time and is trying to save face.
Art if you´re reading this, its OK to retire... even though we are upset.
It would be great if you can paste a scan  (or private message) of your contract (just the no compete part) so us lawyers can take a look at it!

You've identified the "behind the scenes" reactions of corporations to squeaky wheels like Art:  They find another wheel.

The problem was Art wanted to retire at 68 and made up this mini-drama to hide behind instead of honoring his contract with Sirius and more importantly with his fans.

Bullshit.

I too am in the camp that it could have something to do with internet connections and cheap wireless routers. I had one issue the whole 6/7 weeks and I just restarted the app and away I went. The biggest problem I had was that my fat fingers could never rewind the progress bar properly but that's hardly a deal breaker.

No, it's perfectly conceivable that Sirus' systems are not up to par.   I also had problems, and I am a computer tech [here's my badge].   I attempted to use the system with multiple mobile devices, and desktop computers.    One night in particular;  it was like pulling teeth to get the system to work properly.     One night in particular was really bad --- I finally gave up after 2 hours and just caught the program the following morning.

At first I was listening to a live broadcast; then it suddenly quit.   So, I restarted multiple times;  each time catching up to the same point it cut off before.    Switching to a different mobile device --- SAME result, followed by 2 separate desktop computers and multiple browsers.       This was no connection issue on my part,  this was a back-end server issue on Sirius' part.

I have a very high speed broadband connection; enough to stream HD 1080 quality videos ----  but, that doesn't matter;  I 've also streamed over 56k dial-up modems and had less frustration.

Also, do you guys not realize part of the problem was the 90 minute automatic timeout that's geared to "save Sirius and us bandwidth data costs" ?

It's a 4 hour program --- SET THE TIMEOUT TO 4 HOURS; it should have been that way from Day #1.

Secondly,   who thought it was a great idea to make a mobile app that doesn't allow you to enter in the CHANNEL NUMBER when that's how you find channel numbers on the satellite receivers..

I'm a guy that's been streaming talk radio for nearly 20 years online --- and I RARELY have problems.      Sirius is seriously one of the worst platforms I've ever encountered.     Don't get me wrong; it HAS POTENTIAL  ---- but it's severely lacking in obvious user interface design and back-end server support.

So,  IN SUMMARY:

* Back-end streaming servers that are not up to par.
* Terrible User Interface design  (has potential,  but lacks obvious things such as selecting by channel number)
* Setting a timeout to less time than the program length isn't a real good idea --- took way to long to "fix" and should have been implemented on DAY #1.

I've seen / experienced worse and  I've definitely seen / experienced much better.    For a premium service like this ---- Sirius SHOULD be on the FAR END of the "better" spectrum and they are most definitely not.

Unfortunately, I can.  PremRat will have to dig-up Paul Harvey to come in and drag him out of the studio.  "Time to go, Jorch.  The angels are calling.  Careful through the portal!   Gooood Day!"

Yes, Art, if you ever need cut-rate legal advice in a dispute against a huge media corporation, I highly recommend getting it from "us lawyers" on the Internet.

Ok, I agree, I am a washed up has been who has lost what little talent I might have had, my memory is fading
fast and my skills as a Interviewer no longer exist. Like a Prize fighter who took one to many punches I am off
in zombieville. I can take a hint, I am done. So I will now leave and abandon my idea of free streaming along
with a life that has now lost all it's meaning. I am sorry to have crushed so many dreams and now understand
full well that the real King has taken his rightful place on the throne of Bell Gab. I understand I am dead to you
all.

                                                                                                                                Art

I am now on page 105 and reading onward.

Mr. Bell let Mr. Noory keep the crown avatar.  You will always be the King, and he has a crown, too, as Queen of the Paranormal.

Sirius's software is buggy and sucks.
And so do its execs who did Art a huge disservice by knowing full well their site was buggy and who did nothing to fix it.
Don't try to blame this on the customers or users of Sirius's seriously flawed website model.
That dog don't hunt.

Somewhere in the high desert, a series of upset dogs is howling right now.
They're probably mad that they can't listen to Art anymore too.

Its about time he does something. Worst first round pick for the Saints in a while.

Apparently, Dark Matter has now become a reality show, to be played out at BellGab.  MV.  Always thinking.

Art and the responsible parties should get together on Jerry Springer.

They should take Brees out before he gets hurt. I wonder what Art thinks of this game. If only he had a way to tell us

Heather Wade

Sirius should talk to Netflix regarding the streaming issues.  Never had a problem with Netflix, and you would think streaming hd audio/video would be more prone to drops.

Feel free to attack me, just a thought.
