If Art gets out of his Non Compete clause I will volunteer to read this entire thread on artbell.com's stream during the testing phase. Expletives beeped out of course.

That'd sure be a lot of beeping.

DM officially -1 min expired. RIP

It's the end of an era. The best damn 6 (or 7) weeks in recent radio history  :'(

I feel like we should have some sort of ceremony to memorialize Dark Matter. :'(

Dear Art,

For a brief period, 6 weeks, it was like my world was complete. Seriously. I had missed you for such a long time. Used to listen to you every night, and had all the stations along regular long distance routes programmed in my car radio so as to not miss a thing.

There is just not a lot of good radio on anymore. And as someone who grew up in Chicago, I know good radio. Some of the best in the USA is (or was) in Chicago.

Art, as a fan, and a fellow ham, I just don't know what to say. For some people, your return was a major event. The return of a beloved ritual... a familiar voice.... interesting subjects.

There have been times that I, and others, have blamed you, Sirius, streaming, or <insert scapegoat here>.

I'm sorry for that.

Regardless of the garbage that has been spewed by myself and others in the thread, it has to be said: You are the best broadcaster I've ever heard. Pure entertainment, good topics, interesting guests, and un screened open lines. It is a deadly combination for a radio show.

So regardless of who played the worst role in this debacle on Sirius. Remember this: If you are breathing, you belong on the air- anything less is a waste of material.

THIS^^

You know, it says -5 minutes but I'm still able to listen to every show he ever did through this siriusxm player. It might change. I'll keep checking.

Honestly, I don't want to spend anymore time thinking or talking about it. Art's not.

If any of you have any form of communication or channel open that I am not aware of,   please feel free
to ask Sirius/XM any of these questions that we all want the answers to.

                                                                                                                    Art

I'm 20 pages behind, I have no connection to SiriusXM other than my pocket book. I cancelled, they asked if there was any way to keep my business. I stated whey they got Art back, I would be back. That is pretty much all the communication I have.

Jnthn932

To top it all off, the shows I downloaded are all gone now. Whoopty fucking do.

Paul--With your experience in the business--what would you put the odds of Art getting out of his NC?

Ooooo, so we're playing the blame game?
Alrighty then, here's my list:

Of course, Bush (all of them!)
Dave Noorie
Adobe Flash Player
Error 1001
Error 305
Spiders (all of them!)
The giggling Aussie
Peach fuzz
The letter "S"

I'm sure I'm leaving some other guilty "entities" out... :D

Obama.

I'll even sign a non compete so I can't be poached by the other show.

Does the NC cover Skype?

Perhaps Art can do a show over Skype and we all connect via a massive group call. ;)

As I said back on page 201,
"I spent time as ATC (Air traffic controller)  I learned never to bet."

So sorry, I offer no odds.

Ok. Let's get things straight.

I called 5 times in 32 shows. One of those times was because Art was begging for people to call on Skype.

I called when he had open lines to ask a very pertinent question about the back catalogue and also to plant the seed of a 24/7 Art Bell channel.

My second call was the next night when he was begging people to call in over Skype.

The third call was the next night when he was also asking for Skype callers and I called to ask a question to Jim Sparks about whether he had any toilet breaks or was given food whilst on his 8 hour plus trips to the spaceships. A very important question. :)

My fourth call was during another open lines segment the night he ditched the boring guest. I asked him another very important question as to whether he planned on doing a Predictions Show on New Years. He asked me what my prediction was and I predicted the demise of the wrong program. :(

My last call was on Halloween to relay my story about my daughters "imaginary" friend. Art thought that the situation was very creepy.

All the correspondence I have had with Art and Paul have been positive so I don't believe I can be blamed for the downfall.

I know you are joking but the reason I was able to get on so easily is because 4 out of the 5 calls were from Skype. Because DM was not available to listeners overseas who never tried to sign up like I did there simply wasn't international audience to generate calls from over Skype. I have no doubt that if Art did a free online stream available to everyone then he would get many, many more calls from overseas.

The real reason it failed is Jasmunda but it's not entirely his fault.

Being that he's in the land that doesn't officially exist, every time he called, the Sirius servers had to reverse themselves due to the fact that everything in Australia is reversed, even the speech when Art would reply to him.

The servers couldn't handle it and that's why Sirius and Art's show kept crashing.

I get ya--though my guess is about a zero chance for NC or any further ART show...I suspect ART deep down(and probably consciously too) always knew(and wants it this way) this too.  Would LOVE to be wrong.

To the tune of the theme of M.A.S.H.

Moronic Asshat Sirius Hats ( in suits ).

" Through early morning moonlight I see.
Visions of things not meant to be.
   The programs witheld from me.
I realize but can't quite see.

   That Sirius isn't painless.
They put us through such changes.
And I can't take or leave it if I please.
I can neither smile or grin.
   Because AB didn't win.

   Not listening is hard today.
Why it hurts I cannot say.
The pain won't completely go away.
Because there's no Art Bell today.

Art Bell decided to go all in.
He thought against the suits he'd win.
But they just got the best of him.
And in this game no one wins.

The atomic clock will show the hours.
And through the silence we'll all cower.
The darkness came and now its gone.
We've not e'en have Crystal's Oh Sweet Song.

A brave man once requested me.
To pay for shows that were not free.
Was it to be or not to be.
   And I replied " Why, oh why, wasn't it free ? "

   Cause Sirius isn't painless.
It brought on too many changes.
And I can't take another empty dial.
But you can do the same thing if you please. "
