Who is Jess?  A head honcho at Sirius or just some flunky typing the current party line from his Sirius FAQ sheet?

Does anyone else have this "Independent Broadcaster" agreement with SiriusXM or is this another example of Art trying to chance their business model? (real question btw, not being troll-y)

Sirius XM rebroadcasts programs that it doesn't own. I'm no legal genius by any stretch of the imagination, but it is being done.

Jess is probably just a fluffer. I think the brass has better things to do than troll social media.

My thoughts exactly.

onan

I'm upset with Art. But Sirius will never get another dime from me without Art.

am i the only one that thinks art is smoking too much ¨e-cig¨ to think SXM would let him stream (for free) a show that is based on a subscription model? LOL seriously... this doesnt make sense to my small brain... obviously he wants to return to the Philippines

Is there a THC enriched e-cig cartridge?

Exactly. No need for anyone to get worried because some random social media intern isn't up to date.

That's what I'm thinking, TGC.  Yep, the brass has better things to do.  I'm hoping one of those things is dealing with prima donna former show hosts.  ;)

Art backed out of his contract. He should have known better. NO EXCUSES!

art bell breached his contact and has a no compete. he will not be returning, its as simple as that. the only questions that remains is, if he offers his show for free (no c.crane adds, etc) and does it as a podcast, out of passion/hobby.. does that breach his NC clause?

Absolutely that would breach a well written NC contract. Citing milk/cow metaphor.

I think that may be official, hate to say.  I doubt they'd have a clueless intern in charge of their official Facebook page.

And by the way, not one off you mouth breathing sycophants said word one about the nasty and vile stuff that has been posted here about Noory.

There have been a handful of us over time who've called for a bit of restraint even on the GNS thread.  But at this point, after what we've seen here, and the attacks we've gotten for even suggesting people dial it back a notch, well I know I and some others have given up expecting any civility whatsoever.

Actually, yeah. Cannabis smokers have been using vaporizers since the 80's.

The cannabis vape-pen thing was really big in California a few years before e-cigs got big advertising in the US.

Wait, shit, was that question rhetorical?  ;D

It doesn't seem to bother them with their customer service.  ;)

But if they've removed Art's name from the lineup and tonight w/be the final Dark Matter?  (As posted upthread).  That sounds as though some powers that be are moving forward with the d-i-v-o-r-c-e.

That's my thought as well.  Looks like the Sirius ship has sailed.

I resent that anyone who posts about how poorly Art handled this is quickly labeled a troll or a hater, when most of us have been listeners for many years.

Even though I'm a huge Art fan, I agree with those who think he handled this badly and also I'm unhappy he went with Sirius instead of AM radio and also I don't like alot of the guests he had on DM so far etc. etc.  I don't think anyone who expresses any of that stuff is a troll or hater.  I just get bummed seeing some fool post stuff like "Art eat a fat dick" every friggin page.  It embarasses me knowing that Art himself reads and posts on this forum.

We should be able to express discontent without the most infantile insults, but .... ah never mind blah blah blah.

Oh you'd be amazed by how many companies employ clueless interns on their social media pages.

but given he is not profiting, how is it a breach? art says he wants to stream a show for the PEOPLE (us and his ¨base¨lolz) if he were to do a casual call-in show, but in podcast format (no advertisers, no profit) I dont see how that is a breach...

That bothered me from the start.  I was surprised it was Sirius instead of AM, especially with Art's love of "classic" radio.  I didn't know much about Sirius at the time so I did a little on-line research way before he came back.  It didn't take much to learn about the problems Art supposedly walked out over but I thought, what the hey, I want to listen to Art and I'll take take the risk.  I didn't have big problems with Sirius but the ones I had certainly weren't going to make me stop listening to DM.  Too bad the host didn't feel the same way about continuing the show.  :(

Maybe.... Or it could be just that they updated the page last week and new versions of the host section are only "pushed out" every Wed night. Who knows?

Agreed.

Just don't see this working out with Sirius. Also, Art may have the same streaming issues as happened on Sirius.

And his small crew is now responsible for streaming support for thousands? (shiver)

The idea that some webmaster can deploy icecast (even contracted through a third party) and expect better results is mind boggling to me. And I'm not talking about that 300 person test last night.... but the real world where 75000 or more are listening.

How do you support that? That kind of infrastructure either needs to be contracted from a third party or built by a network that has many shows.

I know.. I sound like a broken record. In my IT experience (and seeing only what's made public) it's a very bad move. Live streaming on the internet is always problematic. Always. And if Art is looking for a low complaint threshold it's not going to happen.

However, you may never find out if I'm right. Sirius has to buy in for a true test.

I'll be quite content to be wrong. But this whole situation has alarm bells going off in both my business and IT brain cells. The expectations seem quite askew.

I've been hoping for "Dreamland" but we're still hanging in Purgatory.
