Art Bell Quits Dark Matter

Started by DesertFox, November 01, 2013, 07:13:24 AM

What`s up with all this talk about banning people? Look,  if you can`t handle the heat, get the fuck out of the galley; that`s what  granny used to say...rest her soul.

For those that are new here: you will find vigorously debated subjects by some pretty astute folks. Yes, it can be a bit trenchant at times, but when it`s said and done (I hate "at the end of the day"), you might actually enjoy it, if not benefit from it.

Tonight is the last scheduled show for Dark Matter.

Most of the talk about banning people has stemmed from low brow personal insults and ludicous accusations such as Art killing Ramona.

Most of his posts are unnecessary and uncalled for. And then there's the personal insults.
You're right. Troll might not be the right word for him.

I think the term "troll" is way overused on message boards these days. When in fact, the alleged troll is someone you simply don't agree with and want to silence. I don't like a good portion of what I read here, but I'm not going to whine to the moderator like a spoiled child. Believe it or not, some of us enjoy reading all the comments here -- not just the ones that we agree with or make us feel better about ourselves. If you can't handle reality, then I suggest you utilize the ignore feature.

Then it is a TOS issue and MV will address it (if brought to his attention).

Stupid people are everywhere. If they aren't a danger to themselves or society, I say let them make asses of themselves so the rest of us have something to laugh at.

Damn straight.  I have been here way, way too long to let these pantywaists try to turn this place into the next Fantastic Forum.  "Oh, look, kitty cats.  Let's send Art some cat photos so that he'll feel better." ....

Hahaha...heaven help us all.  I'm more the unicorns and rainbows type.  ;) ;D

Yes, as it would be to receive castration by the lovely and strong hands of Xena.

As wonderful as that sounds, I'll have to pass. I'm not attracted to the lesbian tree-hugger type.

Let them do it on a C2C forum. I come here to converse with at least reasonably intelligent people with insightful things to say, not mindless bashing about people's mothers and such.

Somehow I have failed to observe any of  those qualities in EC, and I avoid his postings whenever possible, but if he makes you happy ,Onan, you are perfectly entitled to your  opinion.

And that's the beauty of a forum like this. How boring would this place be if we all acted like Ward and June Cleaver on thorazine?

I think this is a little different than the whole BTLS fiasco with Howard 101  (I assume that's what you're alluding to.)   Bubba complained about money issues publicly for months, and continually threatened to quit.   Plus, by the end, they were just rebroadcasting his terrestrial show - and still paying him a salary.

That all said... I really can't see how SiriusXM would be at fault for not allowing this - and holding to the two year no-compete.

Personally, I really hope everything gets worked out.  But if it doesn't, none of the blame can be put on SiriusXM, in my opinion.

I really hope things work out for the best!

Yeah - the BTLS saga and the continual Riley Martin problems...

I do think you are right.  Art walked away from the show. Based on what we actually know, which for all we know could be 10% of what is actually going on, Art handled this very poorly.

EC picks on women in my opinion and is totally insecure.  Detox works...

Great. Both of you can take the blue pill and use the ignore feature. I'll take the red pill and live in the real world where things can get really interesting -- and salty.

Art is there, but I highly doubt that SiriusXM will answer the door.

Ignore feature loses arguments!!  >:(

I'm hoping there's just a time lag between the folks in India or wherever doing this update, while stuff is being negotiated between the Art-side and Sirius.

Didn't Art have THE top or one of the top guys at Sirius directly contact him first about doing a show on Sirius originally?  I remember Art laughing about somebody at Sirius having to pay the small fee to contact him on Facebook.  I'm hoping Art didn't burn the bridge with somebody like this.  Once it becomes personal, things really get tough, unless the bottom line is really attractive.

Have you not heard of the ignore feature? Why should the rest of us tailor our experience to meet you expectations?

I'm not the head honcho at Sirius, obviously, but if I had wooed and negotiated with Art, worked to address his complaints and requests, and get handed an ultimatum, I honestly don't think I'd be too open to giving it a second chance.  Hopefully they're more professional than I would be and will look at the bottom line.

Take your pick:

● It is certain
● It is decidedly so
● Without a doubt
● Yes definitely
● You may rely on it
● As I see it yes
● Most likely
● Outlook good
● Yes
● Signs point to yes
● Reply hazy try again
● Ask again later
● Better not tell you now
● Cannot predict now
● Concentrate and ask again
● Don't count on it
● My reply is no
● My sources say no
● Outlook not so good
● Very doubtful

am i the only one that thinks art is smoking too much ¨e-cig¨ to think SXM would let him stream (for free) a show that is based on a subscription model? LOL seriously... this doesnt make sense to my small brain... obviously he wants to return to the Philippines

HMC

Does anyone else have this "Independent Broadcaster" agreement with SiriusXM or is this another example of Art trying to chance their business model? (real question btw, not being troll-y)

Karen, you're right, I fear.
Trivial point: I'm a Sirius subscriber both car& home, before, during, and after Art....and they never adjusted the timeout feature as far as I can tell. You still have to click continue every ninety minutes.

I'm sending that hopeful, positive energy to SXM all day, but I don't feel very hopeful.

I hear you.  It's not really wise to issue ultimatums and walk out the door on somebody who is essentially "the boss," and then expect them to open the door and welcome you back.  From what we've been privy to so far, I sure as heck wouldn't have handled a similar situation this way, IF I wanted to keep doing my job.  So there were problems with Sirius and DM.  I would have much preferred that product than none at all.

That might be true in a perfect world. But in today's political climate, any dissension must be silenced.

art bell breached his contact and has a no compete. he will not be returning, its as simple as that. the only questions that remains is, if he offers his show for free (no c.crane adds, etc) and does it as a podcast, out of passion/hobby.. does that breach his NC clause?

I just don't see Art doing a podcast.
