I have to say that even the strongest hugger of nuts cannot really blame people for being mad and venting.  But really I just don't get the whole angry post thing in the first place.  Somebody said it earlier but really "how angry can you get over a fucking radio show?"... take it a little further "how angry can you really get over some posts on an internet forum?"

Really, I just don't see how typing away at a keyboard can really help anybody express their anger effectively.  Actually, if you ARE expressing anger by typing away at a keyboard, more times than not, you must have serious issues expressing it elsewhere in your life.

I have told Sirius/XM I can go on the air as soon as tomorrow if they wish. Do not get to excited yet. It is now up to them.

Agreed. I can't see them doing a 180 from their decision about the streaming the other day. What has changed? Testing of the stream on artbell.com with a sample sized audience and a request to be an independent broadcaster. I don't see how this saves face for Sirius or earns them any more dollars. I think the main sticking point still stands for Sirius and that is giving the milk away for free. No one buys a cow when they can get the milk for free.

Believe me no one wants Sirius to agree more than me but the realist (or is that just the pessimist) in me just can't see it happening.

Then again I have no idea what is going on behind the scenes so as we say down under; opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one.

I agree and while all we're doing is speculating, I can only think back to some contractual issues guest hosts on Howard 101 had with Sirius management.  Scott Greenstein wasn't a pushover in those and I doubt he will be with Art now.  That being said, if Art goes independent and doesn't take a salary from Sirius (maybe just a low share of profits or a point system?) the company will still be getting ad revenue.  At Art's level in the company and with his draw, you can figure about $500 per ad and maybe $1,200 a live read last I talked to the advertising department at Sirius.  That's on the level of Road Dog Trucking and other, similar stations on the network.  Ad revenue without having to pay talent?  Why not?

I just joined this board and I like you read through this whole thread. I can't say I'm impressed with all the bashing that goes on. I understand people being upset about Art's decision. I am too, but I sure don't think bashing people is any way to act. People who are supposed to be adults yet act like school children. All I can say, is grow up. This is not the first forum I've been in where I've seen this kind of behavior. I'm here to get news about Art and not to read a bunch of haters. I hope Art will come back to do a show for all his fans but I'm not ever going to bash people if he doesn't and all you Noory haters are just as bad. If you don't like him, then don't listen to him. Simple as that. I don't go to forums of people I don't like just to bash them. I just don't bother with them. That Richard Hoagland post took the cake for bad taste.

A site called georgenoorysucks.com shouldn't let users comment on what a terrible host C2CAM has? The people complaining about the angry messages directed at Art Bell are talking out of both sides of their mouths; we can mock George Noory on a nightly basis but can't talk about how badly Art mismanaged his SiriusXM departure. On what planet does that make sense? Despite what Art has said, I've seen some well thought out posts in this thread, one from a user who spent $500+ anticipating Art's return with Dark Matter only to have him leave six weeks in. As I pointed out before, no matter what the problems were with the internet stream I believe this all could have been handled in an adult manner BEHIND THE SCENES as the show continued and Art honor his commitment - not to people who were using a free trial but the faithful who bought radios in advance to hear him one more time after years of waiting, grasping onto every cryptic hint that he was coming back. Sure, there have been downright brutal posts in this thread too - some out of frustration, others seemingly with glee about the situation but it's far from the majority. I resent that anyone who posts about how poorly Art handled this is quickly labeled a troll or a hater, when most of us have been listeners for many years.

It's gotten really bad lately:  the worst I've ever seen it.  Something really should be done.  However, it's not my board, and MV seems to be okay with the free-for-all aspect of it.  Right now, it's not making the board a very fun or pleasant place to be.  I haven't put anyone on ignore yet, but I'm about to start.  I have a small list of 47 names.  (JKing).

I think this is a little different than the whole BTLS fiasco with Howard 101  (I assume that's what you're alluding to.)   Bubba complained about money issues publicly for months, and continually threatened to quit.   Plus, by the end, they were just rebroadcasting his terrestrial show - and still paying him a salary.

That all said... I really can't see how SiriusXM would be at fault for not allowing this - and holding to the two year no-compete.

Personally, I really hope everything gets worked out.  But if it doesn't, none of the blame can be put on SiriusXM, in my opinion.

Eddie Coyle is more than likely the most intelligent forum member here; and quite possibly one of the most well read, well thought out people I have ever had the priviledge to cross paths with.

OnA were exaggerating, the timeout feature was previously 90 minutes until SiriusXM increased it to 4 hours upon Art Bell's request. Apparently it's to save on bandwidth if someone has left it running endlessly but it's a hassle to click "Keep Listening" when you're running on the treadmill or cooking dinner.

I've heard some of the earlier stuff too and I think that the story was funny originally. But hearing him on Dark Matter and his serious, quavery voice going on and on pissed me off. The show deserves better! I like stories about aliens because they make me laugh, but reading up about him and how weird and shifty he is was unsettling,

At first you just didn't know.  OMG -- his DOG was killed?  Fairly riveting story.  But wait!  There's more!  Now he's got the alien in the fucking freezer?  And you wanna hear him scream, Art??  But wait!
