exactly.  i think people are getting the impression that there's a new show coming soon.  art didn't say that.  he's still bound by a no compete contract, and that contract applies regardless of the time slot he chooses.

Could be, but if he is waiting for the non-compete clause to end why would the time slot matter? If the show is starting upon the conclusion of the non-compete, he would be free and clear to be on at whatever time he chooses.

Still, the whole thing just *feels* weird even beyond the obvious April Fools concerns. If he did come to an agreement with SiriusXM RE: the non-compete, why would they be letting him start his own show to go head-to-head with Coast? It just feels *off*

That was my take on it. Why stress that the time slot will be different because he couldn't get out of the NC if he's just talking about returning after the NC expires?

Art in the past often did April Fool's jokes on his old website on April 1st...
Or note Art doesn't post a start date but does mention his Sirius non-compete contract, which means he can't start a show for over a year from now.

I've survived being a fatal optimist all these years.  Art won't let us down.  He just won't.  That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

i just hope art's recent FB message doesn't get people all bent out of shape when he doesn't start a show next week.  they've misunderstood his post.  he's simply saying what time slot he'll fill when the no-compete contract expires in 2015.  people are parsing the message to mean what they want it to mean rather than what it means, which is far less exciting.

i will say, art's not very good at communicating through the written word, and this is a wonderful example of that.  while i think his message has a pretty clear meaning and i don't interpret it to mean he's coming back in a few days or whatever, its structure might not prevent some people from manifesting and connecting those dots on their own.

The weird thing for me is that if I look at his FB page on its own, that post isn't there. It only shows up in my notifications. And there's nothing on his website. Which is why I think maybe I broke out the champagne too soon.

Not to mention a poor understanding of the Internet, especially social media, as he uses it as the only channel to communicate with his fans.  People like me who stopped listening to Coast long ago might not get the meaning behind the time slots.

Exactly. If Art thought this was a clever way to do an April Fools joke by playing on the fact that 95% of people misconstrue 98% of what other people say then it is either (A) a cruel joke or (2) a bad joke as there is nothing new in his statement that he hasn't been saying for month except a set time for the show which he hinted at a few weeks back. To sum up if it is a joke then it is either in poor taste considering the emotional roller coaster that his fans were put through last year or a bad joke considering that if he truly wanted to pull the mother of all pranks then he should have had the balls to really punk us and say that he will be airing tonight. Boo ya. Just kidding folks. If this isn't a joke and just another announcement then he really FUBARed with the timing of it all or perhaps that was the joke after all. It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma thinly veiled as an april fools joke that may or may not be. Confused. Who cares? There's activity in this station and that is good for BellGab business and my procrastination.

FYI: As I recall, Jimmy Joe Bob ostensibly flew his airplane into Area 51 on April 1, oh so many years ago now.  I was so much less jaded then.
