I've now listened to 3 of those streams and the only one I've liked so far is the spec sheet.
There was one with 2 guys talking about the little people. on and on about them.
I had to turn it off.
And then there was a woman who kept saying " um " every 5 seconds. I finally clicked off on her too.
Am going to finally listen to Bateman tonight.
I wish Keith would have a way to go back and let us listen to shows we missed instead of only giving us new shows. There's no seeming way to backtrack and catch up.
I've missed shows in part because the last couple of days for some reason, all I want to do is sleep.
I think all the stuff about the car and staying up all night finally caught up with me.
And I've blocked YP.

You're right, of course. Stoking the fire is inherently childish. But as an anthropologist, I am fascinated by general human nuttery. I will stop now. 

I find that a really interesting statement (and one that forces me to question my career choices.)  I am fascinated by general human nuttery, their anger and actions that make absolutely no sense and defy logic (knowing full well that sometimes what I do / say defies all logic as well.)  Perhaps I needed to chose a career where I could be paid for being consistently baffled by human behavior and for my attempts to sort it all out.

Just the other day I listened to the Harlot episode (23/10/1997) and found a dreadful interview with a musician and multiple ads for gold (just like George today) or health products as well as stupid callers that interrupt the guest, things I tend to forget over the years when the highlights remain. Later on when he would pop in on Coast to Coast on a semi-regular basis he was tired, short-tempered and not fun to listen to whatsoever. As I said before, if he returns I hope it's with good intentions and he's there not to stress over call volume but only tries to put on an interesting and thought provoking program.

To me, Art didn't always have great or even good guests...that wasn't the point.  Art is why I tuned in.  He was always at the least...good and often much more.

With regards to Art not being involved in the Network...that is no surprise.  He said Keith would be doing the heavy lifting.   I didn't expect him to do anything with it.

And that has NOTHING to do if he goes back in 2 years...what Art does regarding this network mean nothing about his return.

Art said he's coming back within 2 years and i'll take him at his word(at least for now...unless something real comes up)...I see nothing here that changes that.

I liked that episode as well.

The thing I always used to sense from listening to Art bell in the 90s (real or imagined) was a certain 'wink/wink/nod/nod' type of tone when one of guests was batshit crazy. Almost like there was an inside joke between himself and his audience.

Much of the content of his show was done with the utmost seriousness, but often Art played the 'straight man' to wacked out guests with very entertaining results.

-I think the bulk of Arts work in the 90s was pretty damn good- Some excellent interviews and terrifying information. Listening to those episodes today does not and cannot ever evoke the same feelings since we are in a totally different time and we have now followed many of these 'guests' through the years.

Remote Viewing (for instance) is something I really bought into. Since it WAS operated from the Military and Armies of the World have regularly tried to tap into physic abilities and the occult for obvious reasons. I always figured 'remote viewing' worked and the Army had taken it into a very secret place and publicly claimed they shut the program down- Plausible, I would think.

But hindsight being 20/20 its actually obvious that it was a total waste of tax money for something which never worked. That is why somewhere around the year 2000/2001 Ed Dames became 'funny' to listen to rather than scary. The interviews themselves may have been just as good- But I was seeing the entire thing through different eyes (...er...Hearing it through different ears lol?) so a comparison is impossible if that makes any sense.

Especially considering that by the year 2K many , if not most of us were online- Now an 'interview' with Dames (or anyone) can be fact checked. People debunked. Claims shown to be exaggerations or outright lies... Ed Dames remore viewing Santa Clause and almost setting off REAL ALARMS (google it- the story is funny as fuck)

So yeah... An interview which might have been terrifying and informative in 1997 is now funny as shit in 2013 and can never be experienced in the same way as it was 'LIVE'.

I think if you were to compare 20 Dark matter shows to 20 shows in any month during the mid 1990s- I think DM fails pretty hard. Partly this is a result of the same recycled material/guests but there is more- Hard to explain exactly but that 'inside joke' with the audience was absent AND the terror which some of old coast shows evoked, the unsettling feelings- ALSO absent- Leaving a fairly generic show imho.

-That does not mean to say I think Art isnt a  fantastic interviewer (I feel he is one of the best) but if my only experience with Bell was DM I would eel very different.

Personally I loved the Art Bell Sirius shows--it didn't have anything to do with believing them or not, back then or now.  Some stuff I think is possible and some pure nonsense but it was still entertaining with a great host.  And Art still had it on Sirius.

I just listened to 3 hours of Bateman's show and it was like 3 minutes. I wanted more !!!
Bateman could give Art a run for his money & the $noore should listen to him to see how an interview should be conducted.
So far with the exception of  MV & the Spec Sheet guy  ( and their shows aren't as serious in vein as many others are. their show has much more light banter between the hosts  but is still eminently listenable), Bateman's shows were the best of the paranormal shows on the AB Network I've heard AND far superior to many other paranormal podcasts I've got on my Itunes paranormal podcasts section.

And I've got about 100 or so I've not listened to yet.
