Also, I was just at the Dark Matter website and noticed that the link that goes to the streaming site has a new heading: "Keith Rowland's Dark Matter Radio

It seems that Keith is flying solo on organizing the network.

I would've preferred that Art Bell be involved, but it seems he being hands off on this venture.

Jesus, I knew it.  Art's quit Dark Matter Network.  (Sorta kidding).  Art has returned to retirement.  Enjoy Art, enjoy.

No need to provoke Sirius. Best for Art to lay low for now. It could be a possible legal issue if Art is involved.

Normally a NC would not preclude running a network, as long as one did not personally broadcast.

Ask him about the secret messages in his hair?

"you see at 19.5 degrees in my ridiculous hari you will see the remains of an ancient civilization of martian astronauts that were attempting to gain control of my thoughts but were defeated by a application of a super secret hair tonic" - rch

it all makes so much sense now

Guys, I've got a dumb question, but how, in this forum, do you zoom into replies to your posts?  I don't come here frequently enough to follow and I don't have the energy and time to reach every post since my previous comments here.  I click on unread replies and it just indicates that there are some, but it doesn't take me to them.

Hold cursor over "Your Profile" and choose "Account Settings."
You will see "Modify Profile" highlighted in yellow.  Click on it.
You will see your notification choices.
After you've selected your settings, make sure to click on "Save Settings" at the far right of the page.

Maybe the best we can hope for is that he quits retirement. Quits quitting. Nah....I'm not gonna even hope for that one.

Also technically, Art Bell himself is not running the network stream - thats from the artbell.com website which is owned and run by Keith Rowland...

It shows.  Let's hope there's a probation period.  I think some of the worst shows have reached the peak of their learning curve.

I really think it's a consolation prize thrown out to the disgruntled fans.  It's hard to say, though, since Art hasn't really stated his intentions. I'm getting the impression that this is one of those things that wasn't really planned out.  Hopefully some quality control will kick in at some point.

Danger!UFO

It could be that Art just wants Keith to get some credit for his work. Keith is doing all the work.

That's interesting -- I didn't know it was owned by Keith.  Producer Paul said neither he nor Art had anything to do with it, so that makes sense.

I don't know if Art would WANT to do anything other than be on the air, doing the interviews.  This could be the best thing -- keep the site alive, hopefully get a killer lineup eventually, then when Art returns (she says optimistically) he's got a large audience just waiting for him.  But it needs to really be stepped up a notch or several.  Still baby steps.

It is 638 days, 3 hours, 26 minutes, 27 seconds ....  ;)

I would say that they would want to avoid any potential legal issues with Sirius by disassociating Art's name to it. They have already set up a new URL for it and the link to it from artbell.com now looks like just another Advertisement on the website for Keith Rowland's Dark Matter Radio.

Art appears to be winding down folks. He's winding down.

Not to be negative, but does this mean you actually think Art is going to return?  At this point believing that is like believing in Santa Claus.

Spinner

I'm now listening to the 'The Unexplained' with Howard Hughes on the Dark Matter Network and really enjoying it.
I think this one is a winner. :)

Yes, Art will return. He will stream on his website. He already said that streaming is the future for broadcasting.

Most importantly Art will not want to end his broadcasting career this way. Sirius will not have the last word. Art will. He will be back. He'll also have a story or two to tell.

I could be wrong but don't look for four days a week. it could be less. Well, it could be more.

Art ended up getting burned by Sirius and Norry. Oh, he'll be back.

I think right now, he does want to.  But two years is enough time that things could change.  I hope they don't.  I remain cautiously optimistic.

I'm with Philosopher on this one, I doubt that Art is back on the air in two years. Even if he does return, he's going to be disappointed in the call volume and how many listeners he pulls in while doing a web exclusive show.

"Keith Rowland's Dark Matter" is great.
It's a shot at Sirius, I presume an inside joke.

Art will be back--we know that. It will happen OUT OF NO WHERE. Suddenly the chase will start playing and he will be live...
Until then we have a a great network forming.
I am so excited at the prospects here of a 24/7 paranormal website.
Oh my God.. so excited.

Art talked about his back pain and other reasons why he stepped down.  Art wanted to go back to retirement without it looking like he retired again.  I know, this is very pretentious in the sense that I really don't know what will happen or exactly why he left.

Unlike some of the people here, I didn't fault Art for missing a show because of his back issues. It's something my father dealt with and when he had spasms or it locked up, he couldn't work and was in excruciating pain. Sitting upright in a chair for hours at a time, forget about it. I believe Art when he says he didn't want to retire once again but recognize that he mismanaged his negotiations with Sirius/XM when it could have been handled with some tact and Dark Matter could have still been on the air. What I refuse to accept is the excuse of his base leaving him based upon a free trial and that his contract was dependent on whether or not the streaming worked for a satellite radio company. All of the demands and childish behavior related to Premiere only made me question where his head was at, holding on to past grudges at his age. If he does come back in 2015, it should be with good intentions and not because another host is doing a poor job with the paranormal.

OK, I know we're not talking about 'that other forum,'
but this is hilarious...

Art said on the Spec Sheet or the BellGab broadcast that he still loved radio. I really think he missed it. His intentions were good when he went to sirius. (no need to rehash this)

There is now bad blood with Noory because of Oates guesting on Coast. I'm not saying that is a good reason for Art to return. It does provide a little 'fire in the belly', though.

If Art is in good health he will certainly return. Yes, anything can happen. We'll see. In the meantime we have the Dark Matter Network.

There's a good possibility that Gnoory on that site is just another one of the many nom de plumes of Sarah as are 98% of the inhabitants in that asylum.

Heh, apparently "the right thing" to George is to stifle opinion. Good to know.

Art's intentions when coming to Sirius/XM were not pure. He has said several times that he would have never come back if George Knapp was the full-time host of C2CAM and he signed on the dotted line well before Oates was booked as a guest, so let's not use that excuse. Although the Dark Matter Radio Network has a few solid shows, the rest of them are awful and exposes the paranormal field for the small, niche market that it is. If Art is to stick with his web exclusive program in 2015, he should keep his expectations low about his base and just try to have some fun in his final years as a broadcaster.

Holy balls, that Sarah B. is a nut job. Or am I not supposed to mention that.
