I know i'll keep my siriusxm (get a new one when I can) just for the quality/reception/on demand shows... and it'll def. take a break for my "friends" servers in almost englandish areas....

TumbleWeed

Damn it art, now you have us all scared.

coaster

Hold your nuts. Theres a contract involved. Even I am dancin like a retard. I diont think Art would bring it it up if he already didn't know for sure. IS this a thing then

I too find that verbiage a little worrying...
Dang! Now I'll be worried the whole weekend.

Artie isnt going anywhere. If sirius says NO, then Art will quit and just broadcast from his website. Problem solved. Art obviously doesnt need the money if hes calling sirius' bluff!! YAY Art!!!!!

Designx

Chances are it wont be live streaming...

If Art wins this hand, it really could be a C2C killer.  Yes, universe, this must happen.

Yep. With free streaming for everyone, everywhere in the world, there's just no reason to listen to anything else.
Coast will be toast.  8)

Art probably knows enough military types to get his own satellite and wind up competing with Sirius.
The all Art Network.
Bellstar.
He is THE Master at Radio.    -- thats better

It very much sounded to me like he was either going to stream for free, or he was quitting... Are you effing kidding me?!?!

My hope is that he announced that on the air to push Sirius to stream it for free, and isn't really planning on quitting... That's my hope anyways... Now I'm worried.  :-\

For the record... I stream Sirius on 5 different devices (including two PCs) and I have never once had a problem on any of them...
could be an audience numbers thing for him, maybe ?? or to really knock off the shenanigans of snooray and sons...

Not sure If I would way they are a piss poor company, it seems like they don't have the web horse power to stream live?

streaming audio on the internet is simple.  it's BLOODY simple, and inexpensive.  siriusxm is a publicly traded company with 28 million customers.  this should have been figured out within a week of the first sign of a problem.  but it wasn't.  of course it wasn't.

it HAS TO BE for a caller-driven show to succeed. This is non-negotiable.

Yes.  Bob Bigelow is in the satellite and space industry and he probably could set Art up well.

i don't think that was a prediction, but rather a play by play of what art was saying.

Must be that 4 minute delay.   :-[

I'm pretty sure art said it would only be for the live show, all the on demand stuff would be subscriber only.

same here, im gonna keep sirius until Arties site can be dependable for a couple months at least.
I'll keep sirius for other channels I enjoy, the sports, the classical, the ON-Demand AB Dark Matter shows, so I'll always have access to, or my own account when this comes to pass..

like i said, opie and anthony did it for years through cbs radio.
What did they do about the censoring?

EarthAlien007

If they don't agree then we'll just keep crashing their system.  ;D
Art's offering to help fix the situation.

then there would be no point.  part of art's problem is with the diminishing callerbase due to the stream problems.

Twotrips

Me too Steelbot, but He does like to think out of the box. :)

I would be very surprised if Sirius agrees to this.

And I wonder what Art meant when he said, "If not, we may not have a viable situation."  Announcing this prior to Sirius agreeing to do it is odd...

I think art is using the power of his fans to  "convince"  sirius to take the deal. much better than sending kneecapping thugs to the ceo house. It's gamemanship and a power play. this is why paul the producer has been asking about the errors everyone is getting and documenting them.

Yes, Artie said it only applies to the LIVE broadcast.

coaster

absurd. I hope it works out, but 99 percent of you don't really know how radio works. take it from somebody who spent 12 years in radio. all of this is nonsense

I think he realizes the demand is there and the net is available so perhaps it is an ultimatum to Sirius, or else it's Podcast City with streaming through AB.com.  He may feel he is more important to Sirius than Sirius is to his show.

What did they do about the censoring?

they simply didn't use profanity during the simulcast, although sometimes things slipped, and there was someone at cbs radio running the delay dump.  every morning after the simulcast ended and it went satellite only, they'd receive a "dump report" from cbs listing all of the comments that were dumped, which they'd read on the air.  some of the things cbs chose to dump were quite silly.
