I've said this privately, but fuck it, I'll put it out there. There's a part of me that wishes the show hadn't blown up because it creates all kinds of expectations. I get emails literally every single day from people asking where the show went/when the next one is. I started the show because I wanted to produce something I'd want to listen to. I'm proud of what I've done. I'm happy the response has been so positive. But there's another part of me that wants to drop off the radar and get drunk in some tropical locale for months on end sans internet connection. I don't get off on attention. I get off putting out a product I'm happy with. I know what I'm "complaining" about are issues most podcasters would love to have, but this is where I'm at.

i thought...sans the tropical locale and no internet..this was what was happening lol

You could always try doing the show while drunk on the tropical island  ;D

Seriously though you don't owe us anything. Whenever it works out for you we'll be here to check out the show.

I hear you. At least you know that when and if you want to do it again you are good at it. There are other things in life to learn and do. I dig your old shows. Listening to them just once isn't enough and at least they exist.

Sort of makes you respect podcasters that work 5 days a week. It isn't easy for them either.

You mean the ones that get paid five dollars per subscriber that used to have an extremely popular radio show host doing the show before he stopped? One extremely popular radio host had 30k subs before he quit. Multiply that by five and then 12 months and see if that is enough to quit your day job and dedicate your life to podcasting five nights a week.

Folks:

Thankfully the meeting with Steve/WABC is still on. I'm trying to get him to bet on, furthermore, BELIEVE in himself. Unlike Art, Steve, has received the greatest bill of all after he was mugged; a clean bill of health.

I'm trying to put together the necessary funds, so I can fly out to New York (and negotiate a new contract for Steve.) I feel confident this will happen. I'm a very persuasive and passionate lover. How that's relevant to this business deal; only time will tell.

ps: Thanks to the 10's of people whom have sent me supportive pms.

To an extent. It's easier when you only work a 9-5.

If I was drunk and talking to one of the paranormal type guests I'd just keep repeating "ehh, who fuckin knows?" I've discovered that 2 cups of black coffee is my magic recipe for being (somewhat) sharp on the show.

You don't have to explain. You could be sitting on your couch in sweat pants every day and eating cheese if you want. I don't get how people want an explanation that is good enough to please them as to why you aren't doing your shows.

If Bateman wasn't that good there would be no demand.

He is that good. I don't think that means people should constantly harass him and demand an explanation that pleases them as to why he isn't putting out a show. How about he puts out a show when he feels like it? Or if someone wants to pay him enough that he can quit his day job he might do one regularly.

I'll just reiterate, if Bateman wasn't that good, there would be no demand.

Am I correct there is to be a subscription service? In other words a business going on here? The "put out a show when it pleases thee" probably won't fly with subscribers. Besides, I think Bateman is made of sterner stuff than you give him credit for (NYC local).

My Lord, the lack of self awareness here is fun.

Roswells, every post you make about this makes Bateman out to be some over sensitive twat. I don't buy it. "Much feelz" doesn't account for all the difficulties he's probably having. From what I've read in my short time here, the guy is essentially trying to get his network or show off the ground, from scratch no less. He had public blow up, so friggin what? Maybe the...uh..."harassment" and Internet bullying were a trigger, but that was shit had to have been building up long before then.

Bateman, don't listen to this Roswells, you go forth and kick ass regardless of how much a weakling they think you are.

Just in case you are serious. That wasn't my intention. You are 'new' here so maybe read a little before jumping to conclusions.

Also there is a great invention called 'the internet' where you can find the answer to whether he is going to a subscriber model.

You be you, no matter what that ends up being. You have to make yourself happy.

Begging excellent but reluctant radio host to return to the airwaves.  On any terms or schedule. But only if he wants. No pressure. No explanation necessary. But get your ass back behind the mic. Now

Where have I experienced this before?
