I think Art's bored by thank you's and flattery.  He prefers more direct interaction about topics that aren't about him.  Part of why he's such a brilliant interviewer.

I slogged thru it for quite sometime and never really could figure out what his beef with Hoagland was.

Hey - talk your doc about Repatha:  they isolated the genes that cause cholesterol problems and engineered a new kind of compound that fixes the chemical pathway that properly regulates HDL and LDL.  That problem runs in my family and my doc is going to put me on it in a few months so I don't have to die of arteriosclerosis by 50, like every other man in my family.

Another kind of what?  Appetite suppressant?  The most effective weight loss tool for me has been anxiety -- and it's not worth it!

Yeah I was thinking there must be a non-stimulant appetite suppressant.  Nicotine isn't a good solution for people with arteriosclerosis anyway, because it contributes to arterial scarring.  Soy milk seems to be arterio-protective though; you might want to look into a high-soy diet.  Vasodilators have also been linked to better artery health, but of course statins (Lipitor/etc) is the next best thing to Repatha.  And beta blockers seem to be good for the arteries too - they keep 'em nice and relaxed and healthy, with no side effects ;
