Will they ever replace George Snoory?

Hi. My name is Scott and I hate George Noory.

People are singing on Open Lines. He caused this.

Much like Jimmy Olson wondering where Superman is,

I look to the sky with wide eyes hoping for the return of my gravely voiced hero.

I've circled October 23 on my calendar (my half-birthday, no less) in anticipation of a much-needed announcement of his return...

Welcome aboard, Mr. Scott.

-----

Will they ever replace George Noory?  Before I start, I must to say up front, I was never much of a fan of the annual Ghost to Ghost show - but that's because I detest 99.9999% of the callers.  I think the idea is sound, but requires more work, namely, in utilizing talented celebs or speakers who claim to have experienced other-entity activity.  They may get that part of it right this year, at least for a little while. I seem to recall Noory name dropping Billy Gibbons again and saying he would tell a ghost story, though I may be hallucinating at this point in my liqour intake.

To me, talk radio does NOT automatically imply audience participation, especially the way Noory uses it as a crutch to interview less.  He's DYING to "GO TO THE PHONES" all the time and I hate the prick for it.  If you notice, a guest will often be on a good talking jag, while answering a previous caller's question, at which point, Noory RUDELY interrupts the guest with a fake laugh and expectorates "That's right! Jim from Los Angeles!  Take it away Jim," as he queues in the next caller.

Miscreant.  Who the BLOODY FUCK cares about "Jim from Los Angeles" ?  Who cares about "Lisa from Houston" ?  Who cares about ANY caller when the GUEST is ALREADY relaying something interesting?

It is an ABOMINATION to the field.  The calls are dung covered beetle-spun orbs of genuflected SHIT and I do NOT APPROVE of their ass kissing Baal Noory.

Though we should not be surprised at Noory's crutch.  Item: Noory used a co author for "Worker in the Light."  Item: The sequel to the book will apparently be mostly comprised of (genuflecting) individuals who want to "share their story with Noory." Even LESS writing has to be done on this one!

The brain damaged bean counter who signed off on Noory's contract should be tied to a vertical pole, his eyelids taped open, and then be forced to watch (on repeat) High School Musical 1, 2, & 3, for 72 hours straight.

THAT will give him a hint of what we FEEL, goddamn it.  But a smigden of our collective torture.

At least when Art did GTG, he knew how to handle the callers and didn't let them BLATHER ON & ON - which you will no doubt witness this time around the ALL HALLOW'S EVE BEND.

On October 31, 2008, Noory will butcher Ghost to Ghost beyond all recognition and ruin whatever joy it once emitted to those who enjoyed that particular Halloween format.  The final nail in the coffin will be driven into the pine with a dry squeak.

Ghost to Ghost with George Noory will be, in truth, the symbolic last straw for long time listeners, trumped only perhaps during some future sign off where Noory does not mention Art Bell.  And that day, too, shall come.

They will NEVER replace Noory.  As desired, they have FOUND the LOWEST common denominator.

"And it ain't us."

(To invert the famous Pogo.)

I read at another George site and I saw that rumor there, too last night.  They did not give a date, it was just brought up in the posting dialogue.  You know how on the show when George just gets that "gut feeling" ?  Maybe this is just that very thing taking place, like a global mass consciouness.

It will be the Master's second coming. . . Not counting how many times he has semi-retired in the past.  However, I will forgive and bow before him as I turn my radio on to listen.

I'd be gob-smacked.  And, honestly, only partially pleased.   Art's multiple returns have become an awful tease. I'd be waiting, daily, for some new announcement on the order of his new family and life in the Philippines.

"I know how you all feel, my friends, but it's my life.  I've decided to take my wife and daughter and live in a yurt where Shirley McClain met the Peladians."

Oh okay, that's a bit mean - but the man has fucked with my abandonment issues.   ;:)

OTOH - if he started his OWN show once again, well - that would be another matter.

I don't want to get ahead of myself but I'm waiting with bated breath to hear something good.

I went to the FF site just to browse around and get past information.  I was happy to find that Art Bell had posted within the past few days.  I was wondering what he was doing with his life now.  It's maybe just me hoping for something better than what we've been receiving, I don't know but I read something in those lines he wrote.  I don't know it may be nothing and I don't want to get my hopes up too high.  But I'm tired of not having another option.  I would be happy to have another option even if it weren't the return of Art Bell, at least someone with half a brain to compete with the moron that's on now.  I would welcome even listening to a internet show with the same concepts.

Hope I'm not breaking any board "laws" by posting this link.  But I think others would be happy to read Art's own words too.

OOPS!  I did break a board "law".  Sorry, didn't mean to do it.  I just read the board rules and wasn't aware that this particular site was a no-no.  Oh well, maybe others can figure out how to get there.  Again, I'm sorry.

Frys Girl

This is big news, even if it's a rumor. I'll take what I can get.

Hell yes. My fingers are DOUBLE crossed for Art to get back into broadcasting. Which.. unfortunately means I had to break them. But, all worthwhile in the name of the return of the master.

I thought that's what he was doing on ham radio but I never really could get to the bottom of that one. Gawd Friday night had my finger on the delete account button again. Georgie decided all this bad news was just toooo much, so he did open lines where people called in a sang their favourite sitcome opening song. It was so annoying it actually kept me awake.
There are some intelligient podcasts out there, I don't know why I subject myself to C2C. And I agree Eve B, Art has messed with issues I didn't even know I had! Dammit.

I heard parts of that show - my God.  Just when you thought he couldn't possibly get any lower or more stupid,  he does that.  At one point he even suggested wanting to do a Karoake night on a regular basis.  Jesus Christ,  what is wrong with that man?  What is your major malfunction,  Pyle?!?!

JUST BE SURE NEVER TO LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN!

J/K -- shit happens.  ;:)

I can't believe this, but I do because before I found this site I found it on Google on another forum. I dont believe in coincidences. Doink!

I was doing a Google search today and discovered something that if true might give insight as to why George Noory got the position on Coast to Coast and how he remains there.  I challenge anyone to prove this wrong.

I read a comment on one of the websites that Lisa Lyons, one of the Producers of Coast is in fact George Noory's second ex-wife, Lisa Noory.  The last name Lyons could be a maiden name or she may have remarried.  The latter conclusion is doubtful.

If this is true, then if they were divorced and Lisa went to work for PreRad and her struggling ex-husband, George Noory needed a better postion when Art Bell retired this may explain everything.  She if this is true, may have suggested George as a fill-in host for Art.  Then, when Art retired there was a host's setup made in heaven.  Lisa could have fully endorced George for the postion and the higher management aware of Lisa's good judgment decided to give ole George a contract.

We as listeners know the problems with the show and I will not elaborate, but he has the support of Tommy, we know that, one of the Producers and Lisa, his ex-wilfe?  It could be one big happy Noory family.  Of course, she does not go by Noory that would be too obvious.  It is a protective den of ineptness?   Also, if you google Lisa Noory, she resides in Sherman Oaks, CA, home of George.  He may not be married but could it be a partnership of convenience?

This is not known, but taken from another website and could in fact be scuttlebutt.  If it is true, however, it would  explain a lot.  The statement has been expressed around the net that George must have someone at Premiere that covers for him.  And now this may be the rest of the story. . . .

It's hard to prove something like that wrong.  The challenge - I think - would be to prove it RIGHT.

Spikegirl

OMG, Angeleyes, I think Dixie on her blog had said something about Noory's 2 marriages going belly up because George was a terrible provider and they always had money problems. I don't know how much of that was speculation and how much is true, but it would make sense that Lisa needed her alimony and needed her deadbeat ex to be employed so she could get her pound of flesh.

(While as a single woman who pays her way 100%, I am appalled at the thought of alimony and have little respect for women who demand this, I suppose the law is the law if some woman who is too sad to fend for herself like an adult demands it.)

Now it all makes sense. With all the politics at KFI, I have no dounbt that Art was forced to pick this schmuck to take over the reins of Coast to Coast. No wonder Art wants nothing to do with the show now. What a disgrace!

BTW, good detective work!

Frys Girl

Angeleyes, this is why I joined this site. That explains A LOT. How sad.

Quote(While as a single woman who pays her way 100%, I am appalled at the thought of alimony and have little respect for women who demand this, I suppose the law is the law if some woman who is too sad to fend for herself like an adult demands it.)

Alimony is - for the time being (a short time, given how younger couples are planning their fiances) a complicated issue. In a world where women take on the bulk of the homemaking, and/or take on supporting the family so hubby can advance though further education, and so on, alimony make perfect sense.  If fiances are part of the partnership then whomever put in the "sweat equity" deserves their cut.

I have known both men and women who received what was (unfortunately) known as "rehabilitative alimony"  - what that meant was they got money beyond child support while they furthered their own career potential and COULD support themselves in a manner similar to the way they would have lived if they had remained with thier partner.  In each case, this was largely because they had held down the fort while their partner got an advanced degree and much higher earning potential.

In other cases - plans were made around the equity (usually the house) that benefited the children.  Whomever had primary custody of the children got to live in the house, while both continued to pay their share.  Once the youngest child graduated collge - or became 21 if not in college - then one partner had to buy the other out or the house was sold and the proceeds split.

But - given the way lifestyles and economic trends and plans are changing - what's fair will have to change too.

I DO absolutely agree that once the partner with the lower earning potential has had the time need to advace as far as they choose - Or as far as the person paying the extra $ has (not in terms of income exactly - but in terms of potential --So - in one case- for example - the husband had a doctorate - but the wife had stopped at an associates to support him though school - she didn't want a doctorate - just to finish her BS and get licensed as an nutritionist) then they should be cut loose. And  - it has to be a REASONABLE amount of time.  Not leasurly - but not undoable pressure either.

If I were in a situation where my job in life (HIGHLY unlikely - it's just so not me!) was to hold down the home fort and make it possible for my husband to advance, and things fell apart, you're damned skippy I'd want a share that refelcted my contribution.

Frys Girl

I think Lisa deserves whatever alimony she receives. She was married to Snoory, after all. I also think she wants us to suffer since she suffered. The only solution is to find her a new man who can do good radio.
Also, alimony is VERY case-by-case. THere are certainly abusers of the system, and good, greey lawyers, but that's the system!

This is only a test post however I'll make it count.

))))))) W O W (((((((

George and Hoagie make a cozy lookin' couple.

I bet Hoagie's not the submissive bottom all the time. I can't imagine George taking charge and being an aggressive topsince he's such ap little bitch.

George whittering on about how his father was born in Egypt, and how he promised he would go back there blah blah....to Dr. Zahi Hawass his guest.
Nov. 24th, hour three, at 10:59....George "TELL ME WHAT'S NEW UP THERE IN THE GAZA STRIP AREA?"

Hey, every night I become one step closer to becoming stupid enough to enjoy this show.
Not sure which thread to post this on, I am too illeterate at this point to figure it out.
Bloody hell.

do you think he ever goes sloppy party bottom?  or does he just stick with the standard bottom routine?  the former seems like quite a commitment to me.

I can't believe how ridiculous George Noory is.  I know this has been said before but he is a horrible host.  He just plain sucks.  It's just silly now...really.  I am grateful for the Art Bell streamer thing.  I plan on cancelling my Streamlink thing.  Funny thing is that I've felt Snoory has sucked since day one but got my Streamlink so I could listen to old Art Bell and new Punnett/Knapp stuff.
I wonder if the people back in St. Louis felt as tormented as all of us by having to turn the dial every night when the NightTurkey came on the air? Snoory has on the Dream Dudes tonight? Are you kidding me? What a joke!

Nice.

Thanks! He is just too much to handle.  I've been lurking here for awhile and I just had to post about my disgust with regard to how the show has went downhill.  Did Art always have the most interesting guests on? No but even when his guests were lame, Art's questions and style made listening to those guests more palatable.  I have a really hard time accepting that people in St. Louis actually liked this guy.  I just cannot listen to him any longer!
